#1 || Colorado Yeti || Rickey Ramero - LB || @Ramero
You can't deny that this kid is the #1 overall prospect on the board. When you look at what he did for San Antonio this year and the leadership role he had on that team, you know the Yeti were salivating. He's already a player that can come in and make an immediate impact on the team, and shores up some of their defensive woes, being another linebacker to run with Jonathon Saint and Haruki Ishigawa.
#2 || New Orleans Second Line || William H. Harrison - S || @Mongoose87
Not going to lie here, I debated this pick for a long time, wavering between Harrison and Gambino, but I lean towards Harrison because the Second Line just added Fuego Wozy to their defensive line, and it wouldn't make sense to pick up another. Besides, with the recent loss of Jaylon Broxton to the Otters, their secondary and especially at safety could use some much-needed help if the Second Line want to compete next season with the Smallwood and Wozy FA signings.
#3 || San Jose Sabercats || Brad Pennington - QB || @Dawegg
This pick is obvious. With the retirement of Chris Orosz springing up on the Cats and without a S9 QB that they can draft on the board, they're going to go with one of the highest earners and one of the biggest locker room presences in the draft. Surely, he's tied to some controversy, but in the end you can't deny he's a great player that will be a franchise cornerstone if developed right for years to come.
#4 || Baltimore Hawks || Childish Gambino - DE || @Renrut
The Baltimore Hawks are known for their lack of drama. With a locker room sewn together with older, and more experienced, mature attitudes, they'll be looking at the right guy here. Gambino is a player who can make an impact day 1 for the Hawks as they look to compete for a playoff spot, having been cut short by the 13-1 Wraiths and the 10-4 Liberty just a year ago.
#5 || Yellowknife Wraiths || Omar Wrong - DT || @`xdave2456`
It is well known that the Wraiths' issues come on the defensive side of the ball. That's what they're going to address here, snagging #2 defensive line prospect Omar Wrong with the fifth pick. With a defensive line coupled by two aging S1 defensive ends, this is a perfect fit for the Wraiths, and while Wrong didn't make a huge impact in the stat sheets, he was able to draw constant double teams and allow his teammates to rush quarterbacks and running backs last season. Now at a higher level of talent we'll be able to see him on 1-on-1s where he can unleash his full potential.
#6 || San Jose Sabercats || Viggo Squanch - WR || @Durden
The Sabercats need a lot of help, but wide receiver is a glaring need. With Shane Weston staring at regression and Mayran Jackson's future in San Jose up in the air, they're going to pick up a wide receiver to help out their newly drafted quarterback. The Tijuana teammates will reunite and they'll both have a strong impact in San Jose for years to come, as the Sabercats retool.
#7 || New Orleans Second Line || Chad Pennington - LB || @caltroit_red_flames
The Second Line go ahead and make an already very strong unit even stronger, finishing their linebacker core off with Sharpei, Mills, and Pennington. This group will be SCARY to play against as a running back, and going secondary at #2 gives them the flexibility to be able to pick Pennington, a player who's at a position the Second Line are already strong at, and make that group even better.
#8 || Philadelphia Liberty || Brock Weathers - LB || @BWIII
Brock Weathers doesn't have the biggest personality. However, he just works and grinds. With Jaylon Lee regressing, while linebacker isn't exactly a need, the Liberty can make adjustments to fit Weathers into the system, or wait another year while Weathers racks up experience in the DSFL and then comes up when regression takes a bigger toll on Lee. Getting younger is always a good thing - especially for the Liberty's aging linebacker core.
