Butterflies were definitely bouncing around his stomach before the first regular season game for the youngster Marmeladov. You could see it in his eyes even if he tried to hide them behind the bars of his mask.
With the Hawks winning the coin toss, it meant Marmeladov was going in very beginning of the game. But as quickly as he came on he went off, as on the first snap of the game William Nasher would record his first sack and a safety. For the rest of the first Half of the game, Vikian was not a big factor, only name was called when he took the Facemask penalty which he was upset about, as he just brushed his hand on the Hawks players mask.
In the Second Half the coaches must have told him something or he woke up from his nap because the fans finally some what they have been expecting out of Marmeladov. He would finish the game with 4 tackles and a forced fumble as he got a massive hit on Lecavalier. Marmeladov and the rest of the Colorado Defence played very well keeping the Hawks to 20 points and allowing Noble to get a game winning drive.
“I know I can do better, and I’m gonna keep working on my game. It feels good to get that first game out of the way but I know we have a lot of work ahead of us” said Marmeladov after all the excitement had settled down in the locker room. The Yeti will take on the Yellowknife Wraiths in week 2.
