Hello folks, I'm Yellowknife Wraiths Co-GM Tyler Varga and I'm open for taking any and all questions.

Nick
What's your history and experience in Sports Simulation?
I have extensive experience with hockey sims, having been a member of the SHL since the end of season 4. I've also been on VHL, SBA, etc.
Why did you choose to be a Co-GM for the NSFL?
I love Nuck as an individual and appreciated the opportunity to use what football knowledge I have to use.
Why do you believe you're qualified to be a GM?
I've GM'd on the SHL before, I have sim league experience in spades and I have technical knowledge of football and have been a dedicated member. I've also done extensive scouting to prepare for the draft so far.
What goals do you have as a GM?
We want to be competitive every season and attempt to win the championship.

What are your Wants/Needs going into the Draft?
Well we want every position. We're looking for talented players who can make our team better in any way possible. Obviously have good character is a huge plus as well.
Do you Have a chart of positions you want to hit, or is it BPA throughout all rounds?
We're doing a combination so we're ranking players by position then making an overall ranking of prospects.
Why Yellowknife, why the Wraiths?
I was not consulted, but I like that it's unique.
Any concerns about the possibility of pre-draft trades?
I haven't looked into the possibility yet, but it's something that could be considered.
How much financial freedom have you been given by the team owner, or conversely, how many restraints (financially) have been put upon the team?
Well our owner told us that we have to maintain a profit so we can spend about 3 dollars and a stick of gum.

1. Why are the white walkers already so bad?
Because you're not here, babe.
2. If given the #1 overall pick, why do you pass on Josh Garden?
Well, Garden is definitely in that discussion but many factors go into a pick that important. The only reason I'd see not to pick him is based on the importance of the position he plays relative to others.
3. Thoughts on the all-american game?
It was one game, I'm not looking into it too much.

Are you more focused on either side of that ball when looking into the upcoming draft? (Offense, Defense)
We're not going to limit our selections by narrowing our search, so no.
How much of the work load is split between you and Yellowknife Wraiths GM NUCK?
It's a pretty even split, we both try to put in our best effort and do everything we can to make sure this team can be the best it can be.

Are you looking to move picks to be able to get more players for better value?
It's something we'll look into, relative strength of picks and what we could get for trading down. It's always something to consider but nothing has occured yet.
What kind of player are you looking at each position?
We're looking for character at every position. We draft people, not just players.
How much will you value activity over/under build TPE whore?
I think it's a relative question to each prospect, we deal with it case-by-case which is why we like to get in-depth when finding out about our prospects.
Who made your sig?
I believe it was sig god [user=37,17]Bushito[/user]
What does your team offer besides just being on your team?
Is that not enough of a prize? We offer a team that is going to consistently be striving for the title and just a great place to be around. Life is hard enough so why not have a good place to come shoot the shit.

1) With the draft coming up are you looking for a specific need? Best player in the draft? or just trying add more depth on the roster.
A mix of best need player available.
2) How much time does it go into to try and prep for the draft?
We've probably put in a solid 10-12 hours on it already, each. It's going to be a full-time project to try to ensure the best possible result comes from it.
3) Anyone stand out in the Bowl game so far?
Absolutely, but I don't want to tip my cap.

If your draft was based on the All American game alone,
Your top 5 picks would be?
Again, not tipping my cap.
How soon do we see the Wraiths helmet?
One's already been made in the graphics section if you'd like to check it out.
The best Taco shop in Yellowknife is?
I don't think the Yellowknife. has a taco shop, to be entirely honest.

What kind of working relationship do you think you'll have with Head GM Bubba Nuck?
Nuck and I's working relationship so far has been pretty solid. We've divided up tasks and cooperated on others. I'm more of a systems/personnel guy, where Nuck is a front office manager and developer of prospects. Of course there is overlap in these two positions as we both are good GMs who are putting in the time and effort to make sure we can have a great team.
Are you two going to share an office or will you have separate offices?
Separate offices but we'll share a lunch room. Plus, I barely get to be in my office with [user=7,8]NUCK[/user] asking me to go out and get prepared for the draft, but come seasons, I'll have a bit of personal space.
Who's going to give the pre-game motivational speeches?
Well, we are definitely looking for a motivational defensive player in the Ray Lewis mold who can pump up a team to play beyond their potential. If that doesn't work, we'll have Nuck saying "Go get 'em."
Do you have a good medical staff in place in Yellow Knife for the amount of concussions expected in year one?
Our medical staff is pretty mediocre, if I'm being honest. Like I mentioned previously, our budget is essentially, (3 dollars and a stick of gum) so hiring medical professionals is difficult. What we do offer is Canadian citizenship to anybody we draft or sign so they can qualify for free health care.
Do that have an up to date Hospital in up there in Yellow Knife?
It's about as modern as you get in Northern Canada, it's not amazing but it can perform amputations.

Hi there, Kirk Dutter here from the Totally Real Newspaper:
Thanks for coming Cutte- er Dutter.
Who is your top ranked player heading into next week's draft, and why is it m- er Cutter?
As I said before, I'm not going to expose our draft strategy. Cutter is a fantastic prospect though and we look forward to seeing his development.
Do you plan to run a primarily man or zone defence?
Likely looking at mostly a man front, but it's situational and depends game to game. We want our players to be able to match up with the best as we expect the best so man should work for us.
After watching the All-American Bowl who do you think is the most dangerous offensive weapon?
Reg Mackworthy, his yards per carry were incredible and he posted an outstanding performance and is somebody to watch for in the future.

With such a big draft class upcoming how are you preparing to scout everyone?
Diligence and time, you can't rush these things you just have to be precise and sit down as a collective and make decisions.
Very early predraft prediction for next season?
We pick 6th unless we expand.
Do you and Nuck carpool to work?
Well I don't really fit in his mini cooper so no.
Thoughts on the expansion announcement?
About as bad a Bojo is a kicker.
Why is Bojo Kicksit the WOAT kicker in this draft?
I'd rather have Billy Cundiff and I'm a Ravens fan.

Pick me first overall?
I can assure you beyond a shadow of a doubt, we will not pick you first overall.

Sports Reporter with the Daily Californian:
What kind of relationship do you have with other GMs in the league?
I think my relationship with fellow GMs are pretty good, I've reached out to quite a few and we all seem to have an understanding that we'd want to win and make the league succeed.
Are there GMs that you have a good working relationship with and would be more likely to move up and down the board with them?
Unfortunately there are no pre-draft trades or I'd own the entire first round.
What positions do you think are overvalued throughout the league?
I think when you look at the level of guards in the league and the emphasis people are placing on them early, it seems a bit extreme. Yes, the position is next to barren but they don't change the entire game. There's a reason the Cowboys didn't win the superbowl.
Undervalued?
I think the kicker is severely under valued. The amount of games settled by a field goal are pretty high and you want somebody who can make those.
What do you think sets your franchise apart from the others into the league?
Diligence and professionalism. We're the guys who put the work in to make sure we're doing things the right way.

1. How do you feel about your position in the draft ,pick wise?
We love our spot at number two, we think we should be able to get our top guy on our board and stride into the season with an excellent team around us.
2. What do you think about the decision that trading picks in this draft is not allowed?
It's a little upsetting but I understand the commissioners know my tendency to destroy others in trades so they wanted to just wait a little bit to give them a chance.
3. What is your preferred defensive scheme?
Hybrid Multiple Front.
4. Which draft strategy is the best in this kind of draft (BPA or filling needs).
Mixed, players and positions have inherent values. So you give a rating based on a combination of both who they are and how important their position is.
5. If you had to chose what would you take? A great atmosphere in the Locker Room or winning back to back seasons?
Atmosphere in the locker room, it'll eventually lead to success as wanting to be here and having fun will motivate you to train and be champions.

1. How valuable is the O Line position, especially with the absence of talent at the position?
I think a lot of people are overestimating the value an offensive lineman by himself has. You need at least 3 for it to matter, and with the way this draft is falling you'll be losing valuable position players in so many other roles to reach on an o-line man.
2. Would you consider drafting multiple linemen early at the expense of other positions?
It depends on the players, but more than likely no.
3. Do you have a unique name for your team hall of fame to go along with your unique stadium name? Perhaps 'The Mausoleum"
The Crypt, The Mausoleum, Aldrich's Lair, we're thinking about a few options.
4. Will you be a power running team or wide open spread attack?
This is a personnel heavy question that is more tailored to who we draft. We're not going to fit square pegs into a circle hole.
5. Why is offense clearly the way to go over defense in this draft?
It isn't? You need both sides of the ball to be at the very least, functional. Ignoring one is beyond stupid.
Code:
JBearly
How much effort have you put into the draft so far?
I've probably spent around 20 hours on the draft by now. So I'm making sure I go in depth to give my team the best chance for success.
What position is number one in your eyes?
Every team needs a leader of their offense so I'd say quarterback.
How focused are you on d in this draft and your day to day life?
Defense is something I am extremely focused on, but relative, I'd say it's around 60/40. You need a competent team on both sides of the ball.
Are the wraiths actually a money laundering scheme?
I'd rather not answer this question without a lawyer present.
When will the new logo be unveiled for your team?
When we get it, we have yet to have one be made yet.
Code:
What is the offensive philosophy of the Yellowknife Wraiths?
Get touchdowns, win some games. We can't pick specific systems or usage until we know what kind of personnel we're going to have.
What blocking scheme do you intend to utilise as you go-to in the run game?
Probably a zone run blocking style, from what I've seen it tends to work the best in terms of turning even a mediocre half back into a legitimate threat.
What emphasis do you place on player character over player ability?
Both are important parts of the process, and it's less about a percentage point and more about the amount of character concerns you can handle to justify a certain amount of talent a player may have. It's a ratio as well as having a breaking point.
Would you rather have a fiery, passionate leader who might cause trouble or a quiet, calculated captain steering the ship?
Again, it depends on what the team needs. Sometimes you're going to need somebody who will rally the troops and try to will his team to win. Other times you're going to need the guy who can be calm and show them that even in the face of extreme adversity you can be resilient and deny the odds to will a team to win.
From a broad perspective, what areas do you believe Kieran O'Connell could improve upon if he were to become a primary component of your offence?
Kieran O'Connell could improve his hands to feature as a receiving back in our system as well as further increase his strength or run blocking to feature on the goal line sets to help the team get touchdowns.
