Y'all really like to talk about us huh
Sad read. The franchise was fantastically built and run at the start. We were arguably the favorites for our first season in the League. As much credit as the original GM's deserve for the build, it is a lesson in research for HO Gm selection as they let these two have the most enticing part of an expansion team, the build, and then left the team hang almost immediately after the fun part was over.
Can you really consider a team having a "win now" mentality when it doesn't like, win?
It's been a lot of misguided hope and ineptitude along the way. It's a hell of a hole to dig out of. Honestly? Scorched Earth is the way to go. Burn it down, start from scratch. I'd move the team and put a fresh coat of paint on it to get rid of the demons of the last few seasons and make it a more attractive destination. Sell whatever isn't nailed down for draft picks, start building an entirely new culture, and consider yourself the 3rd expansion team coming into S22. Create a new culture, get people who are on board with growing together, and be okay with losing for a couple of seasons. It'll make the wins all that sweeter. Or, keep selling your prime picks that could be franchise players chasing a dream that realistically only makes you the 4th best team in your division as opposed to the 5th. But, what the fuck do i know about building a team?
I’ve posted this before. If we tank, the rest of the league hates us because we suck and can’t win and nobody wants to come to CHI. If we try to win like we are now (while doing tons of testing and draft evaluations before the trades), the rest of the league criticizes is for shitting on our future. It’s a no win situation right now and you guys are the problem.
HO is concerned with how to make the league fun, well maybe they should take a look at the discouraging trash on the forums and on discord. I’ve seen each of my GMs in the past 4 seasons post about struggling with their enjoyment of the league because the forums are roasting them for trying to fix the team. Chicago LR and culture is looking so much better these days. @`steelsound` is one of the best GMs I’ve played for and I spent 12 seasons in YKW.

In order for a meaningful discussion of change to take place the history has the be well noted. I for one fully believe there is hope for the franchise but it requires a complete restructuring of their fundamental ideology. People always dump on the easiest target. As they’ve been doing since CHI Ultimus runs.

I mean, if you sincerely believe that the reason Chicago is bad is everyone else, then I feel like you're just proving the point in the OP.

We drafted a few guys in hopes of taking over for us because we knew we weren't going to be around for too long. We had built a good foundation and had guys we thought who were going to be able to takeover after a few seasons of mentoring and teaching. We had a plan in place and that plan worked. To say that I left after the fun part was over, when I had already spent multiple seasons as a gm before for the Liberty when we were struggling, then was a member of HO who was constantly harassed for a year, every decision was heckled and ridiculed and it most definitely wasn't fun. But nah I left after the fun part was over, not because I decided to go back to college, decided to move states, and was starting to get burnt out after years of service to the league where many of the things I heard were negative and damning to my mental health. We built the team to have a good foundation for the future, and the foundation for the team fell out from underneath when those players left.
