For the San Jose Sabercats, we're going to need to keep improving the stock we have and filling up where we are weakest. At a 4-9 mark, we're still not within striking distance of an Ultimus run quite yet. Our running game still needs improvements to help the pass out with Dan Wright on the uptick, though time is running out before he enters regression. The current RB committee of Tyerucker and Cardrissian will hopefully (selfishly) lean more toward Cardrissian as an active and the offseason work on speed will help the strength he's got to convert more red zone opportunities. Action Jackson and Deondre Thomas-Fox are good at WR, though we may need to bring in a third option, and they don't have to necessarily be WR3. The offense has much to improve on after coming last in points scored, passing yards, and passing touchdowns, and only middle-of-the-pack rushing to make up, which included several plays a game where Dan Wright called his own number to run.
On defense, above all, we need a better secondary. HeHateMe PickSix is our best player corner as a rookie (and the only active CB) and our multitude of safeties are inactive or about to age out. With Riposte, Ennis, and Allen at DT, we're covered there for a while. Tyron Brackenridge needs help at LB that might be on the way up with Inspectah Deck. With the third-best scoring defense in the league, things could be tighter, though with a secondary boost, it could alleviate most of the issues. We also need a kicker/punter, with Kicky Bobby at the bottom of XP% and lower down in FG% plus bottoming out average punt distance and his user nowhere to be found. It's not the cause of our problems (take note, Chicago Bears) though it would certainly help to have more reliable special teams. The Minnesota Grey Ducks have been very rocky through our season, but the last few games we've had have been pretty great! We need to repeat the last two games in the next season in the greatest way possible! Our team has been amazingly accepting of each other and that's exactly what a team needs to be successful, is for the team to mesh with one another. Along with having great respect for everyone, but to also be a family! Sim SnowBow (myself) needs to improve on being able to pass more effectively, but I also believe the receivers might need a little bit more of an improvement, not much more though since they're already incredible! Our offensive line could use some more improvement as well, they've done a pretty great job so far but could improve! I highly believe that the Grey Ducks can make the playoffs next year, we will improve and make it! As long as our team continues to stay motivated, keep pushing to get the gains, and keep working together to keep growing in strength, we will do amazingly in the next season! This next season I can feel that we'll make it to the playoffs!

What a year for the Norfolk Seawolves. What. A. Year.
Being a rookie, I really didn't know what to expect in my first season. Would we be championship favorites? Cellar dwellers? Or somewhere in between? As soon as I entered the Norfolk locker room, though, I knew we had something special. The players, and more importantly, the PEOPLE have propelled this crazy, magical season. A solid start saw the SeaWolves begin the season at 3-1. Spirits were high in the locker room, but we all knew there was still plenty of work to do. An up and down stretch in the middle of the season was followed by a heart-breaking three game losing streak at the worst possible time. The SeaWolves were making a playoff push and this was potentially devastating. Did the locker room implode? Did the players turn on each other? Of course not. We all know Norfolk are best folk, and the entire team showed it. We all rallied around each other, and finished the season on an incredible three game winning streak to make the playoffs. Talk about a turnaround! Finishing the season at 8-6, the SeaWolves are peaking at the perfect time and I truly believe the quality and character of the people in our locker room is THE reason why we're in the position we're in. Is Norfolk taking home the trophy? I believe so. And not just because of our incredible talent (of which there is plenty), but because of our incredible chemistry. (246 words)
Since I am writing this after our playoff lose I don't think I will be writting about why we deserve to win but instead about what we need to do next season. Austin have a very solidly built team with very few gaps in it. Our offense is very powerful and can only.be improved in 2 places, the 1st is to a get a back up running back to improve that ground game some more. The 2nd is our offensive line, we have just given up too many sacks this season and so strengthening that would be a really plus.
On defense we are also very solid and will continue to improve. We have young players in the defence who will only get better next year. A replacement at safety would be good for a regressing player there and the strengthening of cornerback would also be a very useful thing to do. The offensive line is largely strong enough but 1 or 2 new players on it would certainly help both as replacements or upgrades for under performers in general. Overall I think Austin will be back next season, back in the playoffs and back ready to get our hands on that second Ultimus title. 206 words
Brian Earlbacher doesn’t have his own team (yet), but that doesn’t mean he can’t have an opinion on who will with the championship. He has been meticulously reviewing the tape from this season of the NSFL in order to determine which team, or teams, have the ‘right stuff’. It can be tough to make that call without being in a locker room because so much more happens behinds the scenes than what is seen on the field. The end result isn’t always an accurate reflection of how competent a team actually is, and so it’s tough to call what will happen in the playoffs. But ultimately, a team that hasn’t won consistently over the course of the season is typically a good choice, and that’s why the Orange County Otters look to be a force to be reckoned with. But they split their games against the New Orleans Second Line 1 – 1. They also lost against the Baltimore Hawks, who, along with the aforementioned two teams, have progressed through the first stage of the playoffs. So, although Orange County were Brian Earlbacher’s first choice for the championship, he believes that this is only if they are able to break the tie against New Orleans, otherwise the Second Line will go on to play the Hawks most likely, a game that they will lose, gifting the championship to Baltimore ultimately.
After last season's Ultimus lose the Wraiths decided next season would be different, and that next season we would change the ending. So far the season has been a lot different then the ones I'm used to, this year we have had to scratch and claw for every win just to make the playoffs. In our wild card matchup we manged to beat the Colorado Yetis. Our defense has been top notch all season including in the wildcard game. As along as the defense stays playing on the level it has been we have a strong chance to win it all. Another reason why I'm confident we will win the Ultimus this season is our balanced offense, with Drake and Hanyadi the Wraiths have a dynamic run game. The other part of our offense is our big play passing attack lead by QB Cooter Bigsby. The gunslinger can rack up yards and TDs alike. The weapons that Bigsby has are the best group of receivers in the NSFL, WRs Rayne Gordon, Nate Swift, and Bender Rodriguez all three of the wideouts have the potential to make big plays during any play. We just need to keep up our level for two more games then we can complete our promise we made and change the ending.

I think the Royals had an excellent year for an expansion team. The record makes it look worse than it actually was. A solid team has been put together, with emerging stars like Skyline, de Ville and many more. The key now will be to secure as many send downs as possible in order to keep the momentum that has been built.
In the draft, offense should be the focus, especially passing game weapons. Despite boasting the league leading rusher Skyline and his successful sidekick Batista, when it came down to it the drives often failed on 3rd down or ended in a redzone turnover. Oh and please for the love of god, get a kicker that can, well actually kick. In other news, the Royals need to fire their Special Teams coordinator and start again from the beginning. The amount of special team yards allowed was just ridiculous costing at least 2-3 wins on the year. This is a definite area of improvement. In summary, if the Royals can retain some key talent, while making good choices in the draft, an ultimini is not out of reach next season. Deadly and Duke have their work cut out together with their war room, in order to make the team a success next year. Code: 210 words |
