Recently, I wrote an article about how the players from the inaugural draft class in Dallas Birddogs history- the S22 rookie class- had fared through last season and where they will be next season. I want to continue with the trend, and introduce every single one of our rookie class so far (both draftees and waiver claims) and how they are coming along as a member of our proud organization.
Draftees
Round 1, 2nd overall: DT Tyler Montain
The Birddogs defence, which stood proud as a fiersome unit as a whole with many top talents in all positions, had suffered heavy damages in terms of personnel loss this offseason, as almost all of their top talents were taken away by many NSFL teams. Defensive tackle position is no exception to this, as both starters of thr position, Big Edd and Deshun jones, will be donning Otters uniform mext season. And that's where Tyler Montain comes in to save the day. Tyler is one of the best players in this entire draft class. He currently sits at 187 TPE, which is very impressive numbers especially since he is a first timer rookie. Tyler will be a force to be reckoned with from day 1. As a user, Amidships was one of our favorite guys throughout the draft. He made his name known as he was helping out with the draft sigs even before he was drafted, and he had been a very valuable member of Birddogs locker room ever since he joined. He is a frequent face in the locker rooms, and a very pleasant individual to talk with. And I also like his graphics works. I'm quite certain that he will defend his spot as a top draft pick at next season's NSFL draft.
Round 2, 10th overall: LB Hingle McCringleberry
Linebacker was another position in Birddogs defence that was stripped bare, as all 3 starters in the position were called up to NSFL teams. So it goes without saying that the Birddogs needed a linebacker. As Hingle was among the top linebackers in S23 class, I'd say it's a perfect match for both sides. Hingle currently sits at quite impressive 154 TPE, and will be ready to immediately make some impact with the Birddogs defence right from day 1. As a user, Jmac And Cheese had been active in both the forum and the locker room. I didn't had direct interactions with him yetx but I think he's a good guy, based on what I have saw and heard from him. If he keeps on earning like he had been, he'll be a force to be reckoned with by next season.
Round 3, 18th overall: TE Tomage McGullager
Even though he was originally drafted as a tight end, Tomage changed positions and he will be contributing at the cornerback spot for the Birddogs. His current TPE level of 83 might seem a bit low, but it actually means he had been max earning since Tomage joined a bit late. He will be a day 1 starter with the Birddogs defence, and will be ready to contribute by the start of regular season. As a user, Philliesphan is someone whom I had interacted with a lot. He's a GM in PBE for the New Orleans Rougadores, a team containing many current and former Birddogs including myself and our GM kyle, so I had many talks with him in both leagues. He's a very fun and pleasant guy, and established himself as a frequent face in our locker room. He is also very eager to help out the team, even going to the extent of changing his position (a hard decision which I am very thankful of). I'm already looking forward to what he will bring in the future, both as a player and as a user.
Round 4, 26th overall: WR Rafael D'Alcott
Rafael was originally drafted by the Birddogs as a wide receiver, but selflessly agreed to change positions to safety in order to help the team win. Rafael will now man one of the starting safety spots which had been laying vacant since Hamish MacAndrew was called up to the Chicago Butchers. At 144 TPE currently, Rafael is certainly the man for the job. He is among the top tier in S23 class in terms of TPE, and he is not likely to give that position up as he is a max earner. As a user, Kenitoh is a guy whom I saw often in the locker rooms. He had been a fun guy to interact with in the locker rooms, and he also wrotr several very interesting articles about his player's background. As he is a big media guy in SHL, I think he will likely write more o those interesting pieces in the future. Even though he slided a little in the DSFL draft because the need for wide receivers were not that high, I am quite certain that he will go much higher in the NSFL draft if he continues to be active as he is now.
Round 5, 37th overall: CB Byron Blackwell
The cornerback position was the weakest link in the Birddogs defence last season, as only one player of that position- none other than this season's first overall pick Colt Mendoza- was active. So, the Birddogs drafted Byron to help them with the position. Byron is projected to start as the number 2 cornerback or nickel from day 1. And although his TPE level is a bit low at the moment at 79 TPE, but he is still active and earning so he will be a solid contributor in no time. As a user, Boom is a relatively new addition to the locker room, who had recently started to be more vocal. Even though I didn't had many interactions with him, I think he's a great guy overall.
Round 6, 42nd overall: WR Luca Scabbia
Wide receiver was not a position of primary need for the Birddogs, as they still had Mike Lee in the roster despite losing William Lim to the Yeti. However, they managed to fill the hole in the position with a relatively lower pick as receivers collectively slided in the DSFL draft. Luca, at 128 TPE and max earning, will be a WR2 opposite Mike Lee from day 1, and expected to provide a quality receiving option to now DSFL capped quarterback Monteray Jack. As a user, enig is a veteran of this league and a good guy to hang out with in the locker room. He had been a very valuable addition to our locker room since he joined after being drafted, as he took part in many conversations both about the league and real life. Enig is a proven veteran, who will earn constantly throughout his career and be successful in whatever position he plays.
Round 8, 58th overall: DT Yuuto Kira Cloudera
The Birddogs needed two defensive tackles coming into the draftx as they lost both their starters as I mentioned before. So, after drafting Tyler Montain with the second overall pick, the Birddogs drafted Yuuto to partner with him in the interior defensive line. Even though he will need some time to develop as he only has 55 TPE now, Yuuto will be a great defensive player by midseason as he is dilligently earning TPEs. As a user, Kenkira is a new addition to our locker room, and had been vocal since he joined shortly after he was drafted. Personally, I'm happy that there is finally another asian guy to talk to when all the American/ Euro guys are asleep. Yuuto was a sleeper pick back in the draft, as he joined quite late and didn't receive many scouting attention. I think he will go much higher in the NSFL draft if he continues to earn like now.
Round 9, 66th overall: QB Bradley Owens
Bradley was originally drafted as a quarterback, but decided to change positions to linebacker to help the team win. This reminds me of another player who treaded the exact same path a season ago- Haha Mango- panda who is now with the Sarasota Sailfish. Bradley is now certainly in a path to be successful like Mango- panda before him, as he is consistantly earning and at 88 TPE as of right now. As a user, Keyg_an had been dropping by our locker room from time to time. I hope he drops by more frequently in the future, as he seems like a pleasant individual to me. If he stays on active and keeps on earning, he will be a linebacker to focus on next season.
Round 9, 67th overall: S Atossa Atlas
As I mentioned before, the Birddogs needed some help in defensive backfield. So Atossa had been drafted to fill the position with quality players. However, Atossa had not been active so far, and still sits at base 50 TPE. However he was recently seen at the forums, so I hope that he comes back and earn some TPEs.
Round 10, 74th overall: RB Rice Ahoc- Machine
Runningback was another position of need as the Birddogs lost their primary runningback White Goodman to Honolulu Hahalua, even though the need wasn't very immediate. So, the Birddogs drafted Rice with a relatively lower pick, and hoped that he could nicely fill in the RB2 or RB3 role behind Kichwa Jones. Unfortunately, Rice had been inactive, not updating since april 4th at 74 TPE although he was last seen a few days ago. I really hope he comes back to earning, as he has a good chance of going up in the depth chart if he earns constantly.
Round 10, 75th overall: TE Rick Casey
The Birddogs lost their star tight end Jeffery Phillips to the Otters this offseason, but still has two tight ends in their roster. So the position was not one of a great need, and they used a relatively lower pick for Rick in hopes that he will be active and be a good TE2 or TE3 for the team. However, Rick had been inactive for some time and his TPE level sits at just 57 for now.
Waiver claims
DE Jahlani Kelekolio
Jahlani had been claimed off the waivers by the Birddogs with high hopes that he will be the one to fill in the gap that still exists in the defensive end position even after the draft, as he had shown some activity right after player creation. However, Jahlani had been inactive since then, and his TPE level still sits at 55 to this day. If he comes back, he will have a almost free entry to the starting job as the positional depth in the position is very thin.
RB Blade McCoy
Balde was originally a runningback, but he switched position to linebacker to help the team win and fill in the need in that position. Blade had been max earning since he joined, and now sits at 87 TPE, which is very impressive for a player joined so late. Blade is expected to be a starter in linebacker position from day 1 and make some immediate impact. As a user, blaster is a returning veteran of the league, who had been very active since he joined our locker room after he joined the team. He had been very vocal, and established himself as a very valuable member of the Birddogs community. I think Blade has a potential of being a high pick in next season's draft if he continues to max earn.
