Ready to be graded
Hey there its Minnesota GM Barney Stinston (Dewalt27). This is my first presser so feel free to ask me any questions about the last two DSFL drafts, last season, or our upcomming season! Looking forward to hearing your questions
@Jangorhino
1. Its a fantastic feeling being a Co-Gm for the Minnesota Grey Ducks. As you alluded to we have an excellent locker room enviornment and it seems that the Grey Ducks/ Marshals have had a great history of that. To continue with this tradition Rampage and I have put a get emphasis on this in our drafting and scouting to maintain the positive locker room environment.
2. As mentioned previously i think adding extra emphasis on drafting people with good attitudes and want to be here is a great help to our team. In addtion we have some great leaders in our locker room that help set the tone and keep the place active. Such as, yourself, Daymond Brooks, Sim Snowbow and others.
3. Well at the end of the day it starts with the Gm's. Locker room culture needs to continue to be the number one priority for the team and if we lose sight of that the team will to. That being said we still want to be competitive and in the championship picture as that too as an impact on moral but its finding the right balance bewteen the two.
@DarknessRising
1. Yes, its true there was recently a shootout bewteen Mario Von Pebbles and Daymond Brooks. I'm well aware of the situation at hand as i actually did the countdown for the shootout. While i would never would never suggest letting things escalate these two grown adults agreed upon it themselves so i moved forward with it. This was a one time thing and will not happen again in our locker room. We cannot risk losing players over senseless arugments such as this one. There will be no punishments given out from the Grey Ducks organization.
2. On the field we feel very confident all around our team. However, to give you and answer to your question i would have to say the Defensive Tackle position would be considered our weakest. To elaborate, I do not feel that it is a weak position as Joe Exotic is making great improvments and looks to be a very strong additon to this team the late addition of Benji Raji also looks very promising. Off the field my biggest concern would be how active some of our players are. Last season we lost several players we expected to be active so its going to be keeping those players around and earning in any way possible.
3. Great question. My long term to goal is eventually to become an NSFL GM. Its a goal I've set for myself and I would like the challenge of managing a team long term with the added challenge of a salary cap. That being said I'm very happy with my current situation as GM of the Ducks so i wouldn t move up for just any NSFL GM job it would need to the the right situation. Right now im 100% commiteed to this franchise.
@TheCC
1. This is the beginning of my second season of the Minnesota Grey Ducks. I've loved my experience here and as of right now i have no plans to leave the team. At one point i would love the opportunity to GM an NSFL team but unless the right team or an expansion team came along I dont plan on leaving for at least a few more seasons.
2. We're returning roughly 8 people who had significant playing time on this team and we are very excited to have them back. I dont have a ton of experience in knowing the number of players that get called up but to me this seems high. I would expect this to be due to the large influx of players that have entered the league rather than the talent levels of the players. People like Buck Thornton, Seastian Vettel, Jamar Lackson, and Mario Von Pebbles coould all being playing up at the next level so this is an unusual year.
3. We are abosulety stoked about our draft this year. We had much more opportunity to focus on players in this smaller draft class and it really paid off for the War Room. We feel that we we were able to address all of the teams needs and take active commited players in every round of the draft that we got picks. This draft class is going to offer a huge boost to this team.
4. Currently, we are projecting around 7 of our draft picks to be starters right away for the team. We expect the others to receive a large amount of planing time for the team and that they will still see the field often enough to get a solid amount of playing time. We drafted these people to help us make a championship push.
5. I would say the hardest part about being a DSFL Gm is that you are rebuilding almost every year. The reality of the situation is that often your highest earners will be moving up to the NSFL after a year or two so you really couldnt count on having many of these players back and that makes every draft so much more important.
6. My favorite thing about being a DSFL Gm is helping the other rookies and trying to help them learn the leagues and aquire the skills to be sucessful here. When i joined the league i wasnt fully engaged. I did the bare minimum and actually went IA right before the DSFL draft, It wasnt anything the DSFL team did wrong, but i thought the league was confusing. Now i have the opportunity to reach out and talk with players and try to give them the tools and teach them things to stay active and around the community. Its great to see players grow and get more involved.
7. This is difficult for me. I often avoid places like Hu-Hot where I combine the food because I often think of how the items taste individually rather than when combined. so I'm going to take the risk and just combine some of my favorite Candies and hope it just isnt completly discusting. Its going to be shaped like a snickers bar, but inside is going to be a combination of peanut butter and coconut. thats it nothing too crazy but it sounds great to me.
@Tylus
1. My thought process coming into the draft is to evaluate the positions for the strongest and weakest and compare those to team needs. Such as this year we identified that D line was going to be a huge need and we thought that Defensive tackle was going to be one of the more shallow positions in the draft. So After Tyler Montain went in the first round we knew that we would need to get Joe Exotic in the second round because we couldn't risk missing out. Positions such as Wide receiver we believed that we would wait longer due to the depth even though we had identified it as a big need. The draft itself is both exciting and nerve-racking to an extent. at the DSFL level you really about about a week or two weeks to scout all the players and in the time you're also waiting to see which NSFL teams plan to call up there players which can make it stressful. It also is tough because you have no idea how the other teams evalaute players which can ruin your board quickly. I had expected Re-creates to go much higher in this draft when what they actually did, so its a lot of adjusting.
2. Some of our biggest misses were in the 1st and second round. We really liked Tyler Montain and were hopeful that he may be available to us in the late first or early second round. The other is CJ Riley. He went one pick before us but I have a great relationship with Huskies as he is my NSFL GM. Other potential misses would be Son Goku, Omar Wright Jr., and Datsum Phatballs.
3. Our goal for this year, of course, is going to be helping our rookies learn the league. That's always the most important thing. As a team, I believe that we should and will be in the championship picture. My future goals are to continue to build our great locker room culture and always be in the championship/ playoff picture. Its something this team strives for every season.
4. Being a GM in this league is really enjoyable. It can be a time-consuming job but you get fully emerged in all aspects of the community and meet and work with more people. Its been great for me to learn the league at a more in-depth level. It was something I was interested in right away when i joined the league and it has met all my expectations. Being the Grey Ducks GM is great. I was a Marshal when i joined the league and so I had experienced in the Locker Room but the culture is excellent and there are a ton of Alumni who still help the team a ton and hang around the locker room that make it an excellent place to hang out and learn. There is a history of success and being competitive and i love the challenge to continue that.
5. There are several players and GMs that I look up to in this league. First is @[Revolution05]. This may be interesting since Rev joined in S18 at the same time i did but he was the reason I joined the league and the first place and I'm not sure I would have even made it past the create a player portion of the league without his help. Additionally, he has helped me a ton learning the ropes as a GM and offer advice whenever I would have GM or Sim questions. Next would be @`woelker11`, He was the first person to allow me into the war room on the Grey Ducks and while i was planning to be his Co-Gm i eventually got the nod to take over the team from Woelkers. Woelkers are still fantastic in helping with the team and staying active in the War Room and LR that made the transition as smooth as possible which was very appreciated when it ended up being a 270 person draft class and it felt like we might lose our minds being first time GMs. Lastly is @Duilio05 my NSFL Gm. Duilio drafted me in the 5th round of the S18 NSFL draft when I was considered inactive when I started to get more active in the league he never pushed for me to be a maxer earner but was a helpful resource the more I started to dive into the league and added me to the Hawks war room shortly after joining the Minnesota War Room. He does a great job of allowing me to learn and ask questions and explain decision making and being transparent with his players. I also apprecaite the Locker room he uphold with it being more casual and relaxed.
@`woelker11`
1. We were very disappointed in our performance last season and I put that on us GMs and the draft we had. To explain further we are very happy with a ton of the players that we drafted last season but we missed big on several key players and positions that I feel could have had a major impact on the outcome of our season. We feel we were much more prepared this season and are much more confident in our draft this year to have a great impact and bring us back into that championship picture.
2. I feel this is due to the culture of the Minnesota Grey Ducks and it starts with the leadership. We continue to try and stress that while we want to be a competitive team but that we're going to do things the correct way and we will always value keeping players active and locker room culture over wins. that's not to say that we don't want to win but we wont ruin our culture or create a bad culture to do it. I also would add that I do not feel the DSFL as a whole is really that bad and it is a small minority not the majority but teams are making an improvement and HO is trying to help.
3. The cold sucks, Let's be honest about that. I love the Spring-Fall but the Minnesota winters can just be very rough and taxing. That being said I think the city loves the team and their warmth and welcoming help make these Minnesota winters not seem so bad.

How cool is it to be Co-GM of the best fucking locker room in the entire league?
How do you think this situation has come about?
How do you plan on keeping up the reputation moving on into future seasons?
Who is third in sacks all time in the NSFL?

2. What do you think is the weakest part of the team heading into the Season, both on the field (i.e. weakest position) and off the field (i.e. activeness in LR or lack of sim testers etc.).
3. If a NSFL GM job was to open up and you were the guy they wanted in that spot, would you take the step up to NSFL or stay with the ducks in the DSFL?

There's been a great deal of turmoil in the DSFL lately, but Minnesota seems to be staying out of that negative light. Why do you think that is?
Duluth is a bit of an odd spot for a football franchise to not only survive, but thrive; how have you adjusted to living in that colder environment?
