Defensive prospects this time, because I might be a bit of a masochist.
As a reminder, this isn't objective, but it should at least give people an idea of what things people need to improve on for the season.
DE Prospects
Who's ready for a bunch of names of people who think they're clever by making puns off of sacking the quarterback? I'm definitely not, since I only think even one of these guys is even half clever in his name pun and the others are just bad. Most important stats are Strength, Speed, and Endurance.
Albert Ruschmann (70 str, 70 spd, 70 end) And we start out with 3 of the exact same well rounded statline. I can already feel the will to continue drain out of me. Thankfully, we don't have 3 of the exact same prospect here, and I can't really blame the two that do have the same since there's only one stat that's considered of "medium" importance to Defensive Ends, Agility. As both Ruschmann and Grant boosted theirs to 50 while Jefferson did not, they get the bump. And Ruschmann has easily the most clever name of anyone in this group. As in, they are the only clever sack pun in the entire DE prospect pool.
Henry Grant (70 str, 70 spd, 70 end) Basic name loses out to legitimately clever name, sorry.
Jeffery Jefferson (70 str, 70 spd, 70 end) And Jefferson loses out due to 5 less points in agility.
Owen Isaac (71 str, 70 spd, 65 end) I'm guessing that in importance, it goes Speed, Strength, Endurance? Either way, the extra point in strength puts Isaac up here.
Crozier McCoy (70 str, 70 spd, 65 end) 70 in speed vs 70 in Endurance, I'm guessing that makes McCoy better than Hoffman.
Bobby Hoffman (70 str, 65 spd, 70 end) Hoffman being more well rounded, meanwhile, gets him above the guys below him.
Hank Sakner (74 str, 65 spd, 65 end) Lots of strength, and the +70 points requiring more TPE investment gets him this spot.
Sam Roes (70 str, 67 spd, 68 end) I think Roes' well roundedness puts him above Abid and Jackson, personally.
Abdul Jabbar Abid (65 str, 75 spd, 62 end) Abid has one less speed than Sackson, but I think I prefer the 5 more strength. Granted, Sackson also has 3 more endurance, but I think the 5 strength is still more important.
Jake Sackson (60 str, 76 spd, 65 end) The supreme speed that Sackson has puts him here in my eyes.
Brick Van Sanzo (70 str, 71 spd, 60 end) Sanzo has one more speed, so he goes here. Honestly, so far the DE rankings have been easy, despite how many of them there are.
Saximus Daddy (70 str, 70 spd, 60 end) I give the 5 more speed precedence over the 4 more strength. Also, I think I have found a name I legitimately hate out of this class. Subtlety can be a great thing sometimes.
Vick Vinegar (74 str, 65 spd, 60 end) An obvious upgrade over Crowder, who has 4 less strength and the same speed and endurance.
Raylan Crowder (70 str, 65 spd, 60 end) Meanwhile, Crowder has 10 more strength compared to Watson.
Troy Watson (60 str, 65 spd, 60 end) Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Watson has the lowest (or tied with it) strength, speed, and endurance out of anyone in the class. That makes Watson the easiest bottom of the rankings pick out of maybe the entire rookie class, much less the DE class.
DT Prospects
Do you have time to hear about our Lord and Savior Aaron Donald? No? OK.
Apparently it's literally just speed, strength, and endurance for DTs, no mediums even.
Joey JoJo Junior Shabadoo (70 str, 60 spd, 60 end) Shabadoo is the best guy in this class as far as I can tell, at least as far as these 3 stats go. He's the only guy with a stat of 70 and no stat below 60.
Booker Bookchin (60 str, 60 spd, 65 end) While I'm guessing endurance is the least important of these 3 stats, he does have 5 in them as opposed to the 3 that Hunter has in speed.
Hunter Mantis (60 str, 63 spd, 60 end) 3 in speed is better than Thebaw's 2 in speed, who knew?
Sheed Thebaw (60 str, 62 spd, 60 end) As speed is the most important stat, I think having 2 in speed is almost certainly better than having 1 in strength and 1 in speed.
Honky Tonk Haywood (61 str, 61 spd, 60 end) Haywood gets above everyone else in the class, however, due to having at least 60 speed.
Bonifacius van den Huevel (71 str, 52 spd, 60 end) The low speed has these 4 at the tail end, but out of these Huevel has the most strength (actually the most strength in the class), tied for the most speed out of these four, and everyone here has 60 endurance anyways.
LeDavious "Dave" Davis (70 str, 52 spd, 60 end) One less strength than Huevel, but more speed than Slattery gets Davis here.
Vance Slattery (70 str, 50 spd, 60 end) Just too slow to go higher, again.
Angelo Cerilli (60 str, 50 spd, 60 end) And we have another guy tied for the worst in each stat that counts as "important". Easily the bottom.
LB Prospects
Apparently Linebackers often are the best defensive players in the DSFL, so the top prospect here might end up being number one overall. Or maybe the linemen.
Most important stats for Linebackers are Strength, Speed, and Endurance again. Though this time, Intelligence and Tackling are the secondary stats.
Daniel Bateman (70 str, 70 spd, 70 end) And sigh. These two have exactly the same stat line, and exactly the same secondary stat line. Thankfully none of the other Linebackers have the same statline, I hope the safeties and Cornerbacks will be kind to me as well.
Dean McBean (70 str, 70 spd, 70 end) Same stat, slightly less good name in my opinion.
Caleb Judge (70 str, 70 spd, 65 end) My best guess is that Endurance is the worst stat here, so having 5 less in Endurance is probably better than having 5 less in Strength. Judge goes above Thunder.
Chad Thunder (65 str, 70 spd, 70 end) And Chad Thunder is just so far above the rest of the field in these three stats, that he can definitely not go lower.
Richard Leaking (68 str, 70 spd, 60 end) I debated these next 3 a lot, but I think Leaking's mix of strength and speed gives him the best option.
Gib McGlib (55 str, 78 spd, 60 end) Meanwhile, McGlib has the highest speed by a long ways of any LB prospect, though his low strength and endurance keep him from the top spots.
Guy Fields (57 str, 70 spd, 70 end) Just too low strength to surpass McGlib's 8 point speed advantage. However, 2 strength points and 5 endurance are enough to overcome the 2 point speed gap between him and DeSoto.
Jimi DeSoto (55 str, 72 spd, 65 end) DeSoto's speed and endurance advantage is enough to overcome the gap in my opinion, though.
Gary Goodman (62 str, 70 spd, 60 end) Speed is the most important thing, so the 4 point advantage there gets the nod over the 7 point strength gap, although I could definitely be wrong.
Jeff Haraldson (69 str, 66 spd, 60 end) The only guy left with a lot of speed AND strength.
Dexter Jackson (55 str, 70 spd, 60 end) Just a worse DeSoto and Goodman.
Rusty Rucker (60 str, 65 spd, 65 end) It feels kinda mean to put you here considering how much your user helped me with the wiki assignment, but nothing over 65 is kinda bad for this sort of ranking.
Wasrabi Gleel (70 str, 61 spd, 61 end) And at this point, Gleel's just unbearably slow.
L'Gazzy Burfict (66 str, 62 spd, 65 end) I hesitate to do this because I'm worried he's going to try to injure my player, although thankfully that's not a thing in the sim. But yeah, just too slow and weaker than Gleel.
Regius Goliathus (55 str, 65 spd, 60 end) OK, Regius apparently didn't use up his original 50 TPE, so I don't know how to rank him, I'll just stick him at the bottom right now but let's call him a prospect with untapped potential.
CB Prospects
Time for the massive 16 prospect ranking. The most important things for Cornerbacks are Speed, Hands, and Endurance.
Curtis Blackshear (78 spd, 50 hnd, 60 end) Having stone hands isn't the worst thing for a Corner, so the speediest guy in the room with good endurance gets the top spot.
Lukas Hinsetzen (75 spd, 50 hnd, 62 end) I think speed and endurance are more important than Hands for Cornerbacks, and Blackshear and Hinsetzen have the best mix of that in the class.
Mason Gillion (75 spd, 50 hnd, 60 end) Most of this section is close together, Mason being the fastest guy with 60 endurance left. Again, I think endurance is more important than Hands for a cornerback, though I could definitely be wrong, so the 5 point loss with hands is made up for the 5 points in endurance.
Ben Anabender (75 spd, 55 hnd, 55 end) I think having 3 more points of speed as a corner is worth having 5 less in hands.
Jeeroy Lenkins (72 spd, 60 hnd, 55 end) However, Lenkins beats out west due to having 10 more hands compared to 5 more speed, since at that point I feel the difference in hands is probably VERY noticeable.
Corran West (77 spd, 50 hnd, 55 end) West is the second speediest guy in the class, and if he develops decent stamina or gains an ability to intercept the ball, he will become a force.
James Gath (74 spd, 50 hnd, 58 end) The last guy left who I'd consider "fast", that makes up for his less than 60 endurance and lack of hands.
Naman Fletcher (70 spd, 55 hnd, 65 end) I think Endurance is better than Hands, again. 5 points for each is a worthwhile tradeoff.
Lugolor Gulogor (70 spd, 60 hnd, 60 end) One point in speed I don't feel is a worthwhile tradeoff for 5 points in hands, however.
Rich Triplet (71 spd, 55 hnd, 60 end) *clears throat* I said, one point in speed isn't a worthwhile tradeoff for 5 points in hands! That's what separates Gulogor, Triplet, and Woody.
Charlie Woody (72 spd, 50 hnd, 60 end) However, I think 2 points in speed is worth 5 points in hands, especially once you get into the 70s range where it takes 5 points of TPE per point.
Peter Patterson (70 spd, 55 hnd, 60 end) Basically an upgrade over the entire rest of the class.
Gavin LeClerc (70 spd, 55 hnd, 55 end) Leclerc, meanwhile, has 5 more hands than the bottom of the class in Wallace and Clark.
Breezy Wallace (70 spd, 50 hnd, 55 end) In secondary stats, Breezy Wallace has 5 more intelligence than Clay Clark and the same amount of agility. Therefore, Breezy gets the tiebreaker.
Clay Clark (70 spd, 50 hnd, 55 end) For what it's worth, it doesn't feel like anyone was COMPLETELY off the rails in their point layout here. Investments in Agility and intelligence are also going to be important, but as far as this one works, Clark's the lowest. Can I give you guys credit, though, for not having ANY 2 prospects with the same stats altogether and only 2 with the same 3 primary stats? I'd like to give you guys props for that.
S Prospects
The final stop, because I don't think it's really that important to rank the Punter/Kicker prospects. The important attributes are speed, hands, and endurance.
Tayshawn Crunk (80 spd, 55 hnd, 70 end) Geez, Crunk is one of the fastest guys in the class, and has OK hands and great endurance to boot!
Xmus Flaxon Jaxon Waxon (78 spd, 55 hnd, 72 end) Waxon has two more endurance, but my completely uneducated guess says the jump from 70 to 72 endurance isn't as big as the jump from 78 to 80 speed. Heck, in some positions, going to 80 speed makes you slower, apparently. This is apparently a completely flawless simulation and there are no problems with it whatsoever. Excuse me while I spike the ball in field goal range with 2 and a half minutes left in the game.
Nationalsimulation Footballleague (78 spd, 55 hnd, 70 end) The last of the people with more than 75 speed, that 3 point advantage in my opinion is better than the 5 point hand advantage.
Chris Callahan (75 spd, 60 hnd, 70 end) There's a big gap between Callahan and Minshew Sr, due to 5 points of speed AND 5 points of hands.
D'brickashaw Minshew Sr. (70 spd, 55 hnd, 70 end) Minshew's the best of the second tier, with 70 speed, 70 endurance, and decent enough hands.
Brian Nelson (70 spd, 57 hnd, 65 end) I think 7 points in hands is better than the 5 points in endurance. Nelson gets over Yeboah for me due to that.
Tony Yeboah (70 spd, 50 hnd, 70 end) Yeboah's a downgrade from Minshew but an upgrade from Milk Mann and Utterstruzen in these three stats.
Milk Mann (70 spd, 45 hnd, 70 end) Milk Mann has an advantage in endurance over everyone left, and an important speed advantage over everyone who has better hands.
Teddy Utterstruzen (70 spd, 45 hnd, 65 end) Yeah, the 4 points of speed probably make Utterstruzen better than Roberts due to the fact that if you are a Strong Safety prospect, you don't really need hands. That 4 point speed advantage then is much more important than the 15 point hand gap.
Bob Roberts (66 spd, 60 hnd, 65 end) Tied for the best hands of this group! Callahan, who's up at 4th, is so much higher, though, due to the fact that he is 9 points faster.
Lionel Rumper (65 spd, 45 hnd, 65 end) I think according to this completely unobjective metric that really isn't that great at determining who is the better prospect, I'm actually a better Safety prospect than Rumper due to having the same speed, 5 less endurance, and 15 more hands. And I used 10 points on Run Blocking. I think something's gone wrong when there's 3 Tight End prospects with the same or better speed as a safety.
Well, thank you so much for the opportunity. If you think I've placed you wrong, that's OK. I will say one more time that I have no sim experience and that these are only the first 50 TPE used, so none of the TPE gotten from training or the rookie tasks or the Wiki task count, and that could definitely make a big difference. I hope you enjoyed.
