The Draft Through My Eyes
As I waited there hoping my name would be called we went by the first round and all of these guys who were drafted in that round were highly touted prospects some who already filled in for games in S1. After I saw the names that were being called I said forget this and went to get a hot dog. Yea not the best diet but whatever. This line up was huge so I waited. The 2nd round went by and my quest for this hot dog was still in pursuit especially because my name still was not called yet. In the background I heard name after name we get to the third round and I finally get that hot dog. Let me tell you it was good stuff anyways back to the drafting board. I sat down in the stadium seats oh boy these things are uncomfortable possible bruises are a real thing with these seats. We hit the 4th and 5th round and I am hearing names That have like 30 syllables. My first reaction was like what were the parents thinking you know? Chidubem Okonkwo How do even pronounce that I am assuming it's not an English name that's for sure. Of course the irony is I am sitting right beside Shjom Finkenlarkin and his family. Funny guy and funny name. We get to the seventh round and I am gearing up to become Mr. Irrelevant and maybe even undrafted. As soon as that thought pops into my mind The Philadelphia Liberty are proud to select 51st overall from notre dame Damien Kroetch. The wait was over I casually walked over and tried not to trip to not embarrass myself of course met the GM and gave a fist bump to my new teammates turned around to the crowd and I became a millennial by dabbing. And that's how my draft night went.
Insider Report #1: steal or bust?
Will Damien Kroetch be a steal? The easy answer is yes ( My self confidence is astronomical is it not? ). After being selected in the middle of the 7th round at number 51 overall. One number away from his jersey number which is 52 may I add for some fun trivia. We are going to explore this speed receivers ability to go under the radar and get picked up by the Philadelphia Liberty.
Activity level: so far Damien Kroetchs activity level has been extremely surprising to those who don't know him at least. He already has a few articles out in the media section as well as just signed a 2 million dollar rookie contract. Let's just say he will be good financially for a little while. That's pretty good I would say for 7th rounder.
Tpe gain: as mentioned before he joined very late literally 2 days before the draft commenced which is another reason why the Liberty were able to pick him up super late. No one was really sure if he could keep it up or not. With all the camps and the mock draft claim Kroetch has earned an extra 47 tpe to his build. All right into speed. This guy is trying to race usain bolt at the Olympics. He may very well be at 80+ speed before the regular season.
Being drafted to an expansion team gives him the ability to be slotted into a good offensive role early on. The GMs of the Liberty have expressed interest in Kroetch getting into the action right away. So he knows he has to work 40x harder than the guys who were drafted before him and the guys who were drafted after him. The more work he puts in the more he gets to prove everybody wrong.
Projected S2 regular season stats: with the ability to run the ball quickly and efficiently and with Kroetchs new found speed don't be surprised if he gets 450+ YDS and 2 or more touch downs during the regular season.
In conclusion weird character is active and ready to take on the NSFL can he do it? Will he do it? Is he full of himself? He very well might be. The only way to find out is to wait for the conclusion of S2
