Good afternoon,
Let us take a look at some of the later round draftees and talk about who is likely to be taken sooner in the ISFL draft.
First up on the offensive side of the ball:
Jake Woodhead Tijuana Luchadores : Drafted Round 16 pick number 4. Definitely a late round flier at the Tight end position. He does a lot of blocking for the team, but has managed 13 catches for 83 yards in seven games. Not bad being the fourth person in line to get the ball thrown to him. At this point, he appears to mostly be inactive, not sure he is moving up much for the draft.
Cmon Skiuuup Dallas Birddogs : Drafted in round 12 pick number 6. A late round TE. He got on the field and has made an impact already. He has racked up 23 catches for 169 yards from the tight end position to currently hold the top spot for rookie TEs in receiving for the season. Assuming he is earning at a decent rate, I'd say he has a chance to move up in the draft. According to the TPE tracker he is sitting at 159, a respectable amount.
Alexander Johnson Norfolk Seawolves : Drafted in round 12 pick 8 as a Wide Receiver. He has gotten on the field and made some catches as a rookie. He has 11 receptions for 125 yards in 7 games. Nothing spectacular, but he gets on the field and does what he can with limited stats. He appears to be sitting at 89 TPE, so seems unlikely he is active at this time. Guessing he isn't moving up much in the draft.
Mark Walker Tijuana Luchadores : Drafted Round 10 pick 6 as a wide receiver. It took him a few weeks to find his groove and be able to help the team. He sees most of his snaps lined up in the slot, a place he feels comfortable as a route running wide out. He has been a consistent earner and active in the locker room. I think he is primed to move up as the highest TPE earner in his round and currently sitting at 177 on the tracker. He also has created some different media pieces for your pleasure, all around great guy who loves football. Also the fifth receiver in yardage with 191 yards on 15 receptions out of the slot. Also managed to haul in two touchdowns.
Owen Holloway Myrtle Beach Buccaneers (drafted by Tijuana) : Drafted Round 11 pick 4 as a QB. He is one of the few rookie quarterbacks that is getting playing time and he is making good use of it. He has thrown for 508 yards and rushed for 470 yards, making him a true dual threat at the QB position. He has rushed for four TDs and thrown for five TDs with five interceptions as well. A high earner for sure with 186 TPE as of last update. I have a feeling he might move up a few rounds.
Adam Melliot Tijuana Luchadores : Drafted Round 8 pick 6 as a Offensive Lineman. Truly a great pick by Tijuana. Getting an active, high earning offensive lineman in the eight round seems crazy. He is currently ranked second in pancakes with 32 with zero sacks allowed. And he was drafted in the eight round! He is at 194 TPE earned which is one of the higher season 24 draftees. I'm confident he will be taken earlier in the ISFL draft.
Crayne Whebet Kansas City Coyotes : Drafted round 8 pick 7 as a wider receiver. Currently the third ranked rookie receiver in yards. By four yards, he is technically tied for second in yards at 260 on 23 catches. Solid numbers for a rookie, plus he appears to be active and a decent earner. He is sitting at 134 TPE, so at this point he might move up a little, but that is going to depend on his activity going forwards.
Harley Fank Norfolk Seawolves : Drafted round 8 pick 8 at wide receiver. He is currently the fourth ranked WR with 22 receptions for 218 yards and three touchdowns. Solid numbers for a rookie WR, but those are as the second receiver on the depth chart, so definitely not mind blowing. But he is active and super high earner with 207 TPE, I have a feeling he might move up from his round 9.
Marc Hamel Portland Pythons : Drafted in round 9 pick 1 at Offensive lineman. He is currently fifth in pancakes with 27 and has only allowed one sack in seven games. Good numbers for a rookie. His only issue, he is not a super high earner, so hard to say where he will go, assuming he stays active he could still move up a few spots.
Zach Crossley Myrtle Beach Bucs : Drafted in round 9 at pick 3 at wide receiver. He is on a team that owns the rushing title after seven games, so his chances to catch the ball are limited. But he has managed a decent stat line considering that with 14 receptions for 145 yards with one touchdown. He seems quite active and is earning at a really good rate with 180 TPE currently. Definitely a candidate for moving up in the draft.
Noah Akerele Minnesota Grey Ducks : Drafted in round 9 pick 2 at wide receiver. Another wide receiver in the ninth round with decent stats. He has managed 15 catches for 142 yards and one touchdown. His biggest issue is going to be his earning, atm he is sitting at 138 TPE, which isn't bad, but it is behind all of the rookies ahead of him yardage. But if he steps it up for the rest of the season he could increase his draft stock.
Adam Spencer London Royals : Drafted round 9 pick 5 at wide receiver. He is in the mix for slipping into the top five receivers by the end of the season. He has 18 catches for 170 yards and one touchdown on top of that. Not bad stats at all, he appears to be active and a solid TPE earner with 171, so there is room for him to continue to increase his draft stock.
Buster Bawls Portland Pythons : Drafted round 10 pick 1 at running back(Full back). He is on the field with two other rookies in the backfield. Solid earner with 165 TPE. He doesn't run the ball much, but as a full back that isn't really your job. He gets out there and throws those blocks for his RBs to get those yards in. If he stays active and keeps earning he could move up depending on the market for FBs.
Medicinal Toblerone Myrtle Beach Bucs : Drafted round 10 pick 3 at offensive line. He hasn't gotten as many pancakes as other lineman on this list, but a solid rookie player learning the ropes. Where he shines is well, his name, and his activity. He is killing it on TPE, already sitting at 222, that is insane. He will most likely move up as an active human being OL.
Connor Quigley Kansas City Coyotes : Drafted round 11 pick 7 at offensive lineman. Here is a story of a shining prospect who has failed to deliver all the hype. He has good stats as the seventh ranked OL. Plays well as a rookie, but he lacks TPE earning and activity. Hard to recommend drafting someone with 97 TPE at this stage of the season. He can still turn it around and get his game back in line.
On to the Defense side of the ball.
Honky-Tonk Haywood Portland Pythons : Drafted round 8 pick 1 at defensive tackle. Solid rookie starting at the tackle position. He has managed 16 tackles and one sack so far. He is active and a good earner, plus he plays defensive line, so there is a chance he will go higher than his current round 8 pick 1 from the DSFL. He is currently sitting at 180 TPE.
Wasrabi Gleel Minnesota Grey Ducks : Drafted round 8 pick 2 at linebacker. Another good rookie defensive player at the beginning of round 8. He has the second most tackles at 63 with three for a loss and three sacks with an interception and three pass disruptions. Stellar stats, honestly he is on the short list for best rookie linebacker at the mid way point. Active and a pretty high earner, currently 177 TPE, I see him potentially moving up a few rounds.
Jake Sackson Myrtle Beach Bucs : Drafted round 8 pick 3 at defensive end. Continuing the theme of defensive players going early in round eight, we have a solid player who isn't quite living up to his potential. Atm not sure if he will be active enough and earn enough to move up with his 97 TPE.
Owen Isaac Tijuana Luchadores : Drafted round 8 pick 4 at defensive end. Yet another defensive player. A solid player with 12 tackles and two for loss. Decent earner, needs to step it up if he wants success at the next level, his 115 TPE isn't going to cut it.
Jeeeeroy Lenkins Minnesota Grey Ducks : Drafted round 10 pick 2 at corner back. A solid season for a rookie cornerback. He has managed 29 tackles and one sack so far. Nothing amazing, but the learning curve for a DB can very high as he could be having to cover some number two receivers on some teams who are maxed out. Good earner and activity, he is sitting at 159 TPE as of last weekend. Definite potential for moving up a round or two.
L'Gazzy Burfict London Royals : Drafted round 10 pick 5 at linebacker. Decent in game stats with 35 tackles and two sacks in seven games. Where he really shines is his ability to earn TPE, sitting at 196 and clearly active in the locker room. Most likely going higher in the ISFL draft.
Mason Gillion Tijuana Luchadores : Drafted round 12 pick 4 at corner back. A solid pick late in the draft, who turns out to be a decent earner. Never know with picks getting this late in the draft. He has 14 tackles, two picks, 6 pass disruptions and a touchdown. Good stats on a good defense, solid TPE earner with 130, but he needs to step that up a bit if he wants to move up on anyones draft board.
Teddy Utterstruzen Myrtle Beach Bucs : Drafted round 13 pick 3 at strong safety. A really good late round pick by the bucs. He has great stats in the games with 29 tackles, one sack, two picks, eight pass disruptions and one safety! A good earner with 149 TPE, needs to step it up a bit, but the potential is there to move up quite a few rounds.
Steven Wadham London Royals : Drafted round 13 pick 5 at strong safety. Solid player, doesn't show well on the field, but that can be scheme related. He is a decent earner with 133 TPE. So while not bad, definitely needs to pick it up if he wants to move up further.
That is as far as I'm getting today. Lots of super low earners in the lower portion of the draft. But there are a few gems that were found in the rounds 8 and higher. I noticed the Luchadores found a couple of high TPE earners who are very active in those rounds. Kudos to them for doing some research and making the right choices. The Buccaneers did a decent job as well, granted the Luchadores did actually draft one of their late round picks that panned out pretty well. I'll post one of these after the regular season ends with some thoughts on the early rounds as well.
