Welcome everyone to the Ultimus tournament. In this media Im going to look over the Ultimus winning team for each ISFL season and pit them against each other in a seeded tournament to determine which Ultimus winning team is truly the greatest championship team. This isnt about the greatest team of all time because there is some room for error. A dominant regluar season team could be considered the best but be upset in a shocking Playoff game or fall short of expectations. So Im going to be basing this solely off Ultimus winning teams. Teams that won repeats will still be included with an indicator of the season they are from. So we are going to start by analysing each team by season record and strengths and weaknesses. Then they will recieve a seeded position. Once the seeds have been placed I will pit the teams against each other tournament style and talk about the results. I am going to grade mostly based off of stats for Passing, Rushing, O-Line, and defensive stats, and thats the topics im going to write about in my analysis. though I dont write about the other areas to save time, Im going to go over them and include them in my decision making. These unwritten topics include, specific playmakers, recieving as its mostly reliant on, and similar to passing, and special teams. Just because I dont write about them doesnt mean they arent considered. So lets get started!
Were going to start in order from season 1.
Season 1 : Arizona Outlaws 9-5
Passing - The Outlaws as a team finished second overall on the season in the passing game. Completing 235 passes on 452 attempts they finished with the lowest completion percentage in the league, a measley 52%. Nonetheless they managed to finish second in yards with 2929 yards, and first in touchdowns with 20 and 14 Interceptions. They had the longest pass completion in the league at 50 yards, and despite the 52% completion percentage they finished with the third highest QBR at 74.3. Overall the passing game was pretty effective, despite the lowest completion percentage, and the lowest amount of completions they finished second in yards.
Passing stats - 235/452 - 2929 yards - 52% - 20 TD - 14 INT - 12.5 average - 74.3 QBR
Rushing - Again second place in the league, the Outlaws rushing attack was pretty fearsome.on 430 attempts they ran for 1661 yards, 2nd place in the league, and a 3.9 average which was third in the league. Their 7 rushing touchdowns was tied for 3rd in the league. Overall the run game was not a dominant force in the league, but it was enough to make defenses pay if they didn't stop it.
Rushing stats - 430 attempts - 1661 yards - 3.9 average - 7 TDs
Offensive Line - The Outlaws O-line was easily the worst in the league in this season. With the leagues lowest number of pancakes in the season with 216, and the most sacks allowed at 48, the O-Line was constantly pushed around and bullied. This is a big reason why the run game suffered, had the O-Line played better I think the Run game would have been the leagues best.
O-Line stats - 216 pancakes - 48 sacks allowed
Defense - The defense was absolutely the crown jewel of this team without question. Finishing number one in almost every category, they made opposing offenses pay early and often. They finished with the most tackles in the league at 736, and the most tackles for loss with 55. They forced and recovered 9 fumbles, and sacked the Quarterback a league best 61 times! Their 19 interceptions also led the league along with 49 pass deflections which was 2nd in the league. Forcing 2 safeties and scoring 4 defensive touchdowns, this unit was constantly taking the ball and making the offense pay for every yard. They also notched a blocked punt. Overall this defense dominated the line of scrimmage and terrorized opposing QBs and RBs, with the top secondary in the league to buy them time to get to the QB, or make him pay for throwing it.
Defense stats - 736 tackles - 55 TFL - 9/9 FF/FR - 61 sacks - 19 Int - 49 PD - 2 sfty - 4 TD - 1 blk P
Season 2 - Arizona Outlaws 12-2
Passing - The Outlaws second Ultimus saw a rise in the passing game. They completed 294 passes in 541 attempts for a 54.3 completion percentage which was 7th in the league. They did manage 3228 yards which was 4th in the league and league most 25 Touchdowns to 17 Interceptions and a 74.5 QBR.
passing stats - 294/541 - 3228 yards - 54.3% - 25 TD - 17 INT - 11 average - 74.5 QBR
Rushing - The run game was good enough for second in the league with 412 carries 1330 yards and a 3.2 average. Their 9 touchdowns was also second in the league. Overall the rushing attack was good enough to make defenses work hard to stop it. They managed 2nd in the league in yards, despite a 3.2 average which was 3rd in the league.
rushing stats - 412 carries - 1330 yards - 3.2 average - 9 TDs
Offensive Line - The Outlaw O-Line had 258 pancakes by seasons end which was good for 5th in the league. They also only allowed 28 sacks which was 2nd best. They allowed the QB time to throw but as seen by the 3.2 yards per carry, they didnt allow much room for the RBs to get into space.
O-Line stats - 258 pancakes - 28 sacks allowed
defensive stats - Arizonas defense was second in the league when they won the Season 2 Ultimus. They recorded 747 tackles which was 2nd, and 53 Tackles For Loss which was 1st in the league. Their 9/9 FF/FR was 3rd in the league, while they DOMINATED the line of scrimmage with an absolutely INSANE 83 sackes, which was 17 more sacks than second place. The secondary logged 23 interceptions which was good for second in the league, and 64 pass deflections, also second place. They only recorded 1 safety but the real killer was in touchdowns. This defense returned SEVEN (7) touchdowns. That was the league best by a good margin. They led the league with 3 blocked punts also, which only adds another element to this dominate defensive arsenal.
Defense stats - 747 tackles - 53 TFL - 9/9FF/FR - 83 sacks - 23 Int - 64 PDs - 1 sfty - 7 TDs - 3 blk p
Season 3 - Arizona Outlaws 13-1
Passing - The Outlaws in season 3 completed 289 passes on 495 attempts for 3650 yards which was 4th in the league. Their 58.4 completion percentage was 3rd in the league. They were also 3rd in the league in Touchdowns with 25, and 1st in Interceptions, only throwing 8. This led to a second place QBR of 91.6. The season 3 Outlaws have the most efficent air attack out of any Ultimus team yet, and yes I know they have been the only team on here yet. This just shows you how important it is to improve as the years go by.
passing stats - 289/495 - 3650 yards - 58.4 - 25 TDs - 8 INT - 12.6 average - 91.6 QBR
Rushing - The ground game for Arizona in season 3 was second in the league that year with 1577 yards on 485 attempts. They had an average carry of 3.3 yards, good for second in the league. Running through opposing defenses for 15 touchdowns made this a rushing attack that was to be feared.
rushing stats - 485 carries - 1577 yards - 3.3 average - 15 TDs
Offensive Line - The offensive line in Arizona season 3 was a dominant force. With the most pancakes in the league at 358, and the least amount of sacks allowed with 34, they were a formidable front, able to protect the quarterback and make lanes for the running backs to attack.
O-Line stats - 358 pancakes - 34 sacks allowed
Defense - This Outlaw defense was a force of nature that chewed up opposing offenses and spit them out. They only finished with 691 tackles which was the lowest in the league, and 44 tackles for loss, also the leagues worst. What they lacked in the tackles department they made up for with sacks. They finished the season with a MOSTEROUS 108 sacks, the nearest team in sacks only had 76. In the turnover field they had 4 Forced fumbles and 7 fumble recoveries which were both near the middle of the league. They led the league in Interceptions with 23, and were the leagues best in passes deflected with 81. Recording 1 safety and 4 touchdowns, these guys capitalized on any and all openings they had. Their devastating pass rush will easily make them one of the more feared teams in this Ultimus Winners tournament.
defense stats - 691 tckl - 44 tfl - 4/7 FF/FR - 108 sacks - 23 INT - 81 PDs - 1 sfty - 4 TDs - 2 blk P
Season 4 - Orange County Otters 9-5
Passing - The Otters of season 4 led the league in passing by a fair margin, with 412 completions in 663 attempts and a record setting 5318 yards. They had a completion percentage of 62.1, best in the league, and led the league in TDs with 36. Their 18 Interceptions was on the lower end, but not the best in the league. They did however have the best QBR in the league with 94.1. Overall the OCO pass attack in season 4 was prolific to say the least.
passing stats - 412/663 - 5318 yards - 62.1% - 36 TDs - 18 INT - 12.9 average - 94.1 QBR
Rushing - The ground game in Orange County season 4 was...horrific. Leagues lowest amount of attempts at only 225, and 632 yards to show for it. The next lowest team in yards beat them by 400. Leagues worst 2.8 yards a carry meant these guys werent running the ball that well when they did run, but they didn't run often so they get a bick of a break. Had they gotten the ball in space more things could have been different. They DID however have 12 TDs which was tied for 3rd. So they ran on the goal line likely more than anywhere else. Not really a porblem when the passing game is as good as theirs was.
rushing stats - 225 attempts - 632 yards - 2.8 average - 12 TDs
Offensive Line - The O-line for Orange County in season 4 was a top of line unit who did pretty well at the line of scrimmage, finishing second in pancakes with 349, and 4th in sacks allowed with 24. They had some trouble making holes for the run game, but did enough to allow them to punch in, in the red zone, and were provided decent protection for the QB. Not the best offensive line in the league, but good enough.
O-Line stats - 349 pancakes - 24 sacks allowed
Defense - The defensive unit for the Otters was pretty stout, but not eye catching. Finishing second in tackles with 738, they did get to the ball carrier quickly to make the tackle, however they were second to last in tackles for loss with 36. They werent getting to the backfield often on run plays, but made some noise during pass plays. Sacking the quarterback 67 times, good for second place in the league. Their 7 forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries were good for 3rd place and first place in the league, respectively. They also Intercepted the ball 16 times which was 6th in the league, and had 62 pass deflections which was als oonly good for 6th in the league. With only 1 TD and 1 safety, they failed to score many points on defense which will hurt them a bit, as every Ultimus team before them had much more effective defenses.
Defense stats - 738 Tckl - 36 TFL - 7/7 FF/FR - 67 sacks - 16 INT - 62 PDs - 1 sfty - 1 TD - 1 blk P
Season 5 - Orange County Otters 11-3
Passing - A prolific passing offense tore through opposing defenses. In 646 attempts they completed 392 passes, a 60.7 completion percentage. With those completions, they had the leagues best, 5545 yards and 41 TDs which was second in the league. Their 17 Interceptions was middle of the road, but made up for with 41 TDs. They als ohed the leagues best QBR with a 98.6. All solid numbers that made up a devastating passing attack.
Passing stats - 392/646 - 5545 yards - 60.7% - 41 TDs - 17 INT - 14.1 average - 98.6 QBR
Rushing - In 220 carries The Otters ran for 752 yards, second worst in the league that year. However their 3.4 yards per carry was good for a three way tie at second place. Hitting paydirt 8 times made this run game more of a threat in the red zone as they were second in the league in TDs.
Rushing stats - 220 carries - 752 yards - 3.4 average - 8 TDs
Offensive Line - The Otter O Line and its 378 pancakes were the best in the league. They made clear running lanes which was obviously seen by the high ypc average. The area they didn't excel in though was pass protection. Allowing 34 sacks, which was the second most in the league, will hurt their chances. The QB obviously made up for it, but taking hits as a QB is never good.
O-Line stats - 378 pancakes - 34 sacks allowed
Defense - The Orange County defense recorded 675 tackles in season 5, this was 4th best in the league. They had the leagues worst number of Tackles for Loss with 21, but made up for it by leading the league in sacks with a MONSTER 89. With 4 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries, and 14 Interceptions, they were one of the leagues worst defenses when it came to takeaways. They finished 6th in passes deflected, and with only 1 safety, and 1 touchdown, they had one of the leagues worst defenses stat wise. But the only stat that matters is wins. Despite not lighting up the stat sheet, they held their opponents out of the endzone enough to win and ultimately that is what matters.
Defense stats - 675 tckl - 21 TFL - 4/3 FF/FR - 89 sacks - 14 INT - 66 PDs - 1 sfty - 1 TD - 2 blk P
Season 6 - Orange County Otters - 11-3
Passing - The season 6 Otters passing attack was completely dominant. Completing 420 passes in 643 attempts gave them a leagues best completion percentage at 65.3. In those completions they went for league leading 5516 yards and 41 TDs which was also the best in the league. They did throw 15 Interceptions which was the 4th worst in the league, but considering 41 TDs, gives them a great TD - INT ratio.Their final QBR of 103.8 was the leagues best and the best out of any Ultimus wiing QB yet.
Passing stats - 420/643 - 5516 yards - 65.3% - 41 TDs - 15 INT - 13.1 avg - 103.8 QBR
Rushing - The ground game took a hit in order to make way for the prolific air attack. Running on 312 carries, the OCO running backs went for 1321 yards, 6th in the league, and a 4.2 average yards per carry, which was tied for 2nd in the league. Pounding it in for 12 TDs was a good number, that added an additional threat for the offense in the red zone.
Rushing stats - 312 carries - 1321 yards - 4.2 average - 12 TDs
Offensive Line - The otters O line was a dominant force at the line of scrimmage. With the leagues best 403 pancakes, they definittely made room for the Running backs, and added decent protection for the QB, only allowing 29 sacks which was 5th in the league.
O-Line stats - 403 Pancakes - 29 sacks allowed
Defense - Finishing last in the league in tackles with 670 didnt mean this defense was the worst in the league, they made plays, and adopted more of a bend dont break mentality when on the field. They led the league in tackles for loss with 40, and 2nd in the league in sacks with 68. The pass defense did well enough with 68 passes defended, good for 2nd in the league. Turnovers were not easy to come by but they made do with 8 Forced fumbles, 11 Fumble recoveries, and 14 Interceptions. With 2 safeties and 0 touchdowns, they made the offense pay when they were backed up to their own endzone, but failed to capitalize on any turnovers with defensive touchdowns.
Defense stats - 670 tckl - 40 tfl - 8/11 FF/FR - 68 sacks - 14 INT - 68 PDs - 2 sfty - 0 TD - 1 blk P
Season 7 - Philadelphia Liberty - 10-4
Passing - 375 completions in 667 attempts led to a respectable 56.2% completion percentage. Their 4551 yards was second in the league. Hitting paydirt 34 times left them third in the league in TDs, and 13 Interceptions was good not great, compared to some of the other ratios from this season. The air attack for Philadelphia in season 7 was good, but not great. An 86.2 QBR was also a very good number, though it was only fourth in the league.
Passing stats - 375/667 - 4551 yards - 56.2% - 41 TDs - 13 INT - 12.1 average - 86.2 QBR
Rushing - The Liberty ground game ran on 302 attempts, the second lowest in the league, but ran for 1383 yards, the 3rd most. This left them with a league best 4.6 yards per carry. They didnt run often, but when they did they made it count. They didn't make much of an impact in the red zone though, only scoring 8 rushing touchdowns which was 7th in the league.
rushing stats - 302 carries - 1383 yards - 4.6 ypc - 8 TDs
Offensive Line - The O-Line was a big portion of Liberty success this year as they had 360 pancakes, and only allowed 26 sacks which was the second lowest in the league. They made huge holes for the RBs to scamper for 4.6 ypc, and gave the QB time to make good throws.
O-Line stats - 360 pancakes - 26 sacks
Defense - In 655 tackles, the liberty ended with a middle of the pack defense in most categories. 23 tackles for loss, 9/5 FF/FR, 78 sacks which was good, but not the best in the league. 15 interceptions and 79 pass defenses, both good, but again not the best. 1 safety, 1 touchdown, and 1 blocked punt. The Liberty defense was VERY well rounded, beng good enough in every category with not one area sticking out either way.
Defense stats - 655 tckl - 23 tfl - 9/5 FF/FR - 78 sacks - 15 int - 79 PDs - 1 sfty - 1 TD - 1 blk P
Season 8 - YellowKnife Wraiths - 11-3
Passing - Having the leagues lowest completions and attempts at 288/453 meant the Wraiths didn't throw often. They were incredibly efficient though, with completing 63.6% of their throws for 3933 yards, 20 TDs and 10 Interceptions. They ended up with a solid 96.8 QBR which was good for 3rd in the league.
Passing stats - 288/453 - 3933 yards - 63.6% - 13.7 avg - 20 TD - 10 INT - 98.6 QBR
Rushing - Leading the league in carries with 439, and 2nd in the league with yards at 1552. The ground game for Yellowknife was efficient, though not incredibly lethal outside of the redzone. their 3.5 average was 5th in the league, though yards were not what made this team great, touchdowns were. With a league leading, record breaking 29 touchdowns on the ground they pounded opposing defenses at the goal line.
Rushing stats - 439 carries - 1552 yards - 3.5 average - 29 TDs
Offensive Line - The Wraith O-Line was a solid Unit, they didnt dominate the line of scrimmage like you would expect, but they had great pass protection. With the lowest number of pancakes in the league at 264, I cant help but wonder if thats why the ypc was so low. They only allowed 23 sacks which was enough for third in the league.
O-Line stats - 264 pancakes - 23 sacks allowed
Defense - With 701 tackles being roughly middle of the pack, the Yellowknife defense as a whole was decent, but what really stood out was their pass defense. 28 tackles for loss was 7th in the league. They did finish 2nd in Forced Fumbles with 7 and 1st in fumbles recovered with 11. They also led the league in sacks with 58. Their 15 Interceptions was 2nd in the league and they led the league in passes defended with 96. 1 safety was pretty standard across the league, all tied up, but their 3 touchdowns led the league.
Defense stats - 701 tckl - 28 tfl - 7/11 FF/FR - 58 sacks - 15 INT - 96 PDs - 1 sfty - 3 TD
Season 9 - New Orleans Second Line - 12-2
Passing - In 594 attempts the Second Line completed 356 passes for a 59.9 completion percentage. Throwing for 4563 yards and 33 TDs is no small number, but I was more impressed by them only throwing 9 Interceptions. They were incredibly efficient throwing the ball and really avoided mistakes. All of this led to a QBR of 96.2 which led the league.
passing stats - 356/594 - 4563 yards - 59.9% - 33 TDs - 9 INT - 12.8 average - 96.2 QBR
Rushing - In 409 carries the New Orleans RBs ran for 1687 yards. They led the league in TDs by a wide margin with 28 rushing TDs. Their Yard Per Carry average was a respectable 4.1. Overall a threatening ground game that punished opposing defenses often.
Rushing stats - 409 carries - 1687 yards - 4.1 average - 28 TDs
Offensive Line - The offensive line was a sturdy front who paved the way for the RBs with 319 pancakes. They also protected the QB pretty well, only allowing 25 sacks.
O-Line stats - 319 pancakes - 25 sacks
Defense - The defensive front led the league in tackles for loss with 35, they also came out with 704 tackles and 56 sacks. They didnt force many fumbles, with only 5 FF. But they did recover 8 total, not groundbreaking numbers, but decent. They led the way in the league with 22 Interceptions and were 2nd in the league in pass deflections with 83. The killer for them came with 0 safeties and 0 touchdowns. Not being able to capitalize on turnovers immediately is going to hurt them.
Defense stats - 704 tckl - 35 TFL - 5/8 FF/FR - 56 sacks - 22 INT - 83 PD
Season 10 - Baltimore Hawks - 13-1
Passing - The Hawks completed 58.9% of their passes, 354 out of 601 for 4400 yards. They hit paydirt 31 times and only threw 10 Interceptions. This differential in TD-INT mad up for their relatively average completion percentage. By seasons end they had a total QBR of 91.9.
Passing stats - 354/601 - 4400 yards - 58.9% - 31 TD - 10 INT - 12.4 average - 91.9 QBR
Rushing - The Hawks relatively average passing game was made up for with a dominant ground game. In 407 attempts they ran for 1931 yards, a WHOPPING 4.7 yards per carry. They also dominated the end zone scoresheet with a league best 25 rushing TDs.
Rushing stats - 407 carries - 1931 yards - 4.7 average - 25 TDs
Offensive Line - Leading the league in pancakes with 375 was a big reason the Hawks RBs were able to have such high YPC. They had canyons for running lanes thanks to a dominant front. These guys also allowed only 17 sacks which was the lowest in the league.
O-Line stats - 375 pancakes - 17 sacks allowed
Defense - The hawks defense lacked big numbers in the tackles department with only 637. They didnt do well with tackles for loss either with only 21. This could be attributed to the offense controlling time of possession but either way. This Hawk defense had some big hitters. Forcing 12 fumbles, and recovering 10, these guys were always knocking the ball out. These fumbles primarily came from the opposing QBs as these Hawks were always on the QB, leading the league in sacks with 68. Their pass defense was a bit of a liability with only 7 interceptions and 64 passes defended, at the bottom of the barrel in both categories. They also failed to secure any safeties or touchdowns. Against some of the powerhouse air attacks lined up in this tournament they might struggle if they cant sack the quarterback in time.
Defense stats - 637 tckl - 21 tfl - 12/10 FF/FR - 68 sacks - 7 INT - 64 PD
Season 11 - New Orleans Second Line - 11-3
Passing - The Second Line threw 622 passes and completed 376 of them for 4564 yards and a 60.5 completion percentage. They had a 2:1 TD INT ratio with 30 TDs and 15 INTs. The seasons end saw them garner an 89.1 QBR. Their passing game was effective, but not game-changing. Still with a good running game, they could take on some of the weaker pass defenses in the Ultimus bowl.
Passing stats - 376/622 - 4564 yards - 60.5% - 30 TD - 15 INT - 12.1 Avg - 89.1 QBR
Rushing - In 386 attempts the Second Line rushed for 1774 yards, a 4.6 yard per carry average. Their ypc average, even at a high 4.6 was relatively average at 3rd in the league. Despite being 6th in overall rush yards, they hit paydirt a league best 20 times, making them a serious red zone threat.
rushing stats - 386 carries - 1774 yards - 4.6 average - 20 TDs
Offensive Line - sitting at 3rd in the league in pancakes with 360, they cleared space for the RBs to run through relatively often as seen by the 4.6 ypc. They struggled in pass protection however, as they allowed their QB to be sacked 20 times. This might not seem like much compared to some other teams on the list, but they were 5th in the league in sacks allowed, and considering 2 teams allowed less than 10 sacks in season 11, 20 seems like a lot.
O-Line stats - 360 pancakes - 20 sacks allowed
Defense - The Second Line defense was pretty average in most categories, with 740 tackles and 28 tackles for loss, they were getting to the ball carrier often enough. But their 36 sacks was only enough for 4th in the league. They also forced and recoverd 7 fumbles, an average number for season 11. Their 17 Interceptions was 3rd in the league, but their 76 pass defenses was only 6th. Perhaps the most important stat out of all of them, that makes up for their middle of the pack stat lines, they had 5 touchdowns. This is a big deal, meaning they capitalize when the other team makes a mistake.
defense stats - 740 tckl - 28 tfl - 7/7 FF/FR - 36 sacks - 17 INT - 76 PDs - 5 TDs
Season 12 - Orange County Otters - 11-3
Passing - In 637 attempts the Otters completed 358 passes, a mediocre 56.2%. They did throw for 4427 yards however, and a league high 28 TDs with only 13 Interceptions. They had an average QBR of 84. Not the greatest numbers in the passing game, but they got the job done.
Passing stats - 358/637 - 4427 yards - 56.2% - 28 TDs - 13INT - 12.4 avg - 84 QBR
Rushing - The Otters run game was on the lower end in terms of yards in season 12. They finished the year with 1444 yards, this was on the 2nd lowest amout of carries however, resulting in a league high 4.9 yards per carry. Their 12 TDs was good, but not high end compared to others of this season. Long story short they didn't run often, but when they did it was incredibly efficient.
Rushing stats - 296 carries - 1444 yards - 4.9 average - 12 TDs
Offensive Line - at only 293 pancakes, the Otter O line was 6th in the league. Despite the relatively weak O Line performance they led the league in YPC. They also allowed the second most sacks in the season with 17.
O-Line stats - 293 Pancakes - 17 sacks allowed
Defense - The Otters boasted one of the stoutest defenses in the league in season 12. With 749 tackles, and 28 TFL, they had no trouble getting to the ball carrier. Their 10 Forced fumbles was first in the league, but they were last in the league in fumbles recovered which meant they often failed to capitalize on opportunites. They were third in the league in sacks with 36, So they had an aptitude for sacking the QB. Their Pass defense was second to none. Leading the league with 19 interceptions, and second in passes defended with 82, they made QBs pay for airing it out. Their 5 TDs was also the leagues best. In short the Otter defense ranked 1st or second in almost every major category defensively. A stout front to be sure.
Defense stats - 749 tckl - 28 tfl - 10/2 FF/FR - 36 sacks - 19 int - 82 PDs - 5 TDs
Season 13 - Orange County Otters - 9-5
Passing - The Otters passed 647 times, completing 369 of those passes for 4877 yards and a 57% completion percentage. They led the league in yards, though were only 5th in completion percentage. Their 30 Touchdown passes was the best in the league, although they led the league in interceptions with 23. With a QBR of 81.7 (fourth in the league) they passed well enough, though not league dominating like some years prior.
Passing stats - 369/647 - 4877 yards - 57% - 30 TD - 23 INT - 81.7 QBR
Rushing - The Otters ran for 1350 yards on 286 carries. This gave them a league high 4.7 yards per carry. However with only 12 Touchdowns, they were near the bottom in rushing TDs. The run game, just like the pass game was pretty mediocre in season 13.
Rushing stats - 286 carries - 1350 yards - 4.7 ypc - 12 TDs
Offensive Line - The Otter O-Line sat in 4th this season in pancakes with 332. Their 13 sacks allowed was good, but not spectacular compared to others this season. Overall they protected the QB well, and cleared lanes to allow the RBs 4.7 yards per carry.
O-Line Stats - 332 pancakes - 13 sacks allowed.
Defense - The Otter defense was one of the more average units in season 13, racking up 717 tackles, 13 tackles for loss which was 2nd worst in the league, and 32 sacks which was again 2nd worst in the league. Their 7/4 fumbles and recoveries was middle of the road, and their pass defense was nothing spectacular with league low 11 interceptions, and a silver medal in pass defenses with 83. The season 13 Otter defense was nothing spectacular in any category, but as a Unit they did enough when it counted to get a victory.

Season 14 - San Jose Sabercats - 9-5
Passing - In 464 attempts, SJS completed 275 passes for 3438 yards and a 59.3%. They threw for 27 TDs and only 8 Interceptions, one of the better ratios on the season. With a 94.6 QBR the sabercat air attack was second place in almost every area except for yards.
passing stats - 275/464 - 3438 yards - 59.3% - 27 TD - 8 INT - 94.6QBR
Rushing - Their 510 attempts was almost 100 carries more than second place. Again they almost doubled the yards of the second place team with 2537. A league high 5 yards per carry, and 18 TDs, meant this ground and pound style run game was devastating to opposing defenses.
rush stats - 510 carries - 2537 yards - 18 TD
Offensive line - with 358 pancakes and only 12 sacks allowed, this O-Line was a tough group that bullied defensive fronts to clear massive lanes, aiding the running backs in achieving their record breaking season on the ground.
O-Line - 358 pancakes - 12 sacks allowed
Defense - The season 14 sabercat defense wasnt the most qualified stat wise, but they did the job. with a league high 34 tackles for loss, and a dominating 51 sacks, they dominated the front lines. Their air defense was pretty stout with only 7 interceptions, the worst in the league, and 80 PDs which was second, making them a tough unit to throw againts, but not quite lethal in takeaways. This is not the case with fumbles, their dominant ground defense forced 7 fumbles and recovered 11.
defense stats - 646 tckl - 34 tfl - 7/11 FF/FR - 51 sack - 7 int - 80 PD

o-line stats - 375 pancakes - 17 sacks allowed
Defense - The defense wasnt as totally efficient as the offense, but they did manage. With 637 tackles, 21 tackles and a league high 68 sacks, they were good at keeping opposing scores down. They led the league in both forced fumbles and fumble recoveries with 12/10. Although they were the leagues worst in interceptions with 7, and pass defenses with 64.

o-line - The one area the Outlaws excelled on offense was the o-line. Leading the league with 332 pancakes. Their 15 sacks allowed was a good solid number, but only 4th in the league.
o-line stats - 332 pancakes - 15 sacks allowed
defense - The outlaw defense recorded 705 tackles, and a league high 35 tfl. They led the league in sacks with 48, though were relatively average in terms of pass defense and turnovers. With 7/7 FF/Fr and 9 interceptions they didnt force many takeaways, and they were pretty average with only 66 pass defenses.

defense - recording 659 tackles, the otter defense was decent, but not great. they had the leagues lowest tfl with 14, and were average with 41 sacks. they did cause 5 fumbles and recovered 7. Their best stat was their INTs which was the leagues highest at 15. They coupled those interceptions with 78 Pds. they also put points on the board often with 2 safeties and 3 TDs
defense stats - 659 tckl - 14 tfl - 5/7 ff/fr - 41 sack - 15int- 78 pd - 2 sfty - 3 TD
season 18 - Orange County Otters - 10-3
passing - season 18s otters were pretty average through the air, completing 225/381 and 2868 yards. they had 2:1 td int ratio with 18 Tds and 9 interceptions. A solid qbr of 88.6 this otter team could have benefited from more pass attempts, their QB was efficient but kept on a short leash of low attempts.
pass stats - 225/381 - 2868 yards - 59.1% - 18TD - 9INT - 88.6 QBR
rush - running for 1987 yards is mor eimpressive when its done in 430 carries. Their ypc average was 4.6 this season, the leagues best. Also having the league high of 18 Tds meant these guys got to the endzone often and didn't have much trouble doing it.
rush stats - 430 carries - 1987 yards - 4.6 avg - 18 TD
o-line - having a low of 279 pancakes normally means your run game suffers, not the case here. Despite the o-line struggles with pancakes they made just enough room for the RBs to get through. They allowed 16 sacks which was 6th in the league.
o-line stats - 279 pancakes - 16 sacks allowed
defense - Finishing the year with 591 tackles and 26 tackles for loss, this defensive unit was good, but not great. Forcing 4 fumbles and recovering 8, and intercepting 16 passes tells me they capitalize on mistakes, but dont often force them with only 4 forced fumbles and 62 pass defenses. They did return 2 scores however, but still a mostly average defense that capitalizes on mistakes effectively.
defense stats - 591 tckl - 26 tfl - 4/8 ff/fr - 38 sacks - 16 int - 62 pd - 2 TD
season 19 - Orange County Otters - 9-4
passing - completing 252 passes in 429 attempts gave them an unispiring 58.7%. They threw for only 3321 yards and 24 TDs to only 9 interceptions. their 93.2 qbr was 3rd in the league. a solid air attack, but a bit underwhelming when looking at some of the stats from past years.

passing stats - 295/531 - 3647 - 55.6% - 27 td - 11 int - 85.3 QBR
rushing - With a season heavily reliant on rushing, the copperheads were at the bottom of the pack with 1477 yards and 8 tds. they did manage a 4.3 ypc however, but they were not nearly as effective as many of the teams above them.
rush stats - 343 carries - 1477 yards - 4.3 avg - 8 td
o-line - boasting the leagues best o-line in terms of pancakes the copperheads had a tough front. however the numbers didnt match up with pass blocking as they allowed 34 sacks, the most in the league and almost double the second worst teams.
o-line - 308 pancakes - 34 sacks allowed
defense - Defense is where the copperheads excelled this season. with 672 tackles. a league high 41 tackles for loss, and 41 sacks, they were dominant up front. forcing 9 fumbles and recovering 13 they were 2nd and first respectively in fumbles. 12 interceptions was good for 3rd in the league, and 71 pds led the league. with only 1 td and a blocked field goal, they didnt put many points on the board, but they didnt allow many either.

Not a bad defensive unit but they didnt cause many turnovers and were weaker against the pass
Defense stats - 684 tckl - 28 tfl - 7/4 ff/fr - 41 sack - 5 int - 55 pd - 1 sfty - 1 TD
Season 22 - Colorado Yeti - 8-5

With only 16 touchdowns and throwing 7 interceptions for a qbr of 84.4, this yeti air attack wasnt great in terms of other Ultimus teams.

Their pass defense wasnt a total liability though with 78 pass defenses.

defense stats - 726 tckl - 33 tfl - 4/5 ff/fr - 37 sacks - 10 int - 79 pd - 1 sfty - 1 td
This concludes my overview and analysis of each team, now they will be given a seed from #1 - #24 and placed into the bracket, after which I will simulate a single game each and put the results here. My rankings are personal, and developed myself by going over the stats and scores from their seasons, and comparing them by using their league ranking for a given stat. This isnt a perfect list, and I factored in some of the underdog magic in a few rankings. Some teams I have higher or lower just based on their record for that season along with where they were in terms of team stats around the league. If they ranked first in every category they would be higher than a team that ranked 4th in every team stat category. Also when I go into talking about the games Im not going to use player names because the game Im using to sim this tournament I could add each players exact stats quickly, but adding names took way to long, I hope you understand lol. So here are my rankings!
My rankings are as follows :
1 - S6 Otters
2 - S5 Otters
3 - S23 Wraiths
4 - S9 Second Line
5 - S19 Otters
6 - S1 Outlaws
7 -S 21 Second Line
8 - S11 Second Line
9 - S8 Wraiths
10 - S15 Hawks
11 - S4 Otters
12 - S18 Otters
13 - S3 Outlaws
14 - S2 Outlaws
15 - S12 Otters
16 - S22 Yeti
17 - S16 Outlaws
18 - S17 Otters
19 - S10 Hawks
20 - S20 Copperheads
21 - S7 Liberty

With that Im going to start simming the games and post another media with the game recaps and tournament results. Enjoy!
The season 13 Otter defense was nothing spectacular in any category, but as a Unit they did enough when it counted to get a victory.
defense stats - 717 tckl - 13 tfl - 7/4 FF/FR - 32 sacks - 11 int - 83 PD - 1 TD
Season 15 - Baltimore Hawks - 13-1
Passing - The hawks air attack was efficient, with 354/601 completions, 4400 yards, 31 TDs and only 10 Interceptions. They had the second highest QBR with 91.9.
Passing stats - 354/601 - 4400yards - 58.9% - 31 TD - 10 INT - 91.9 QBR
Rushing - in 407 carries the Hawks ran for 1931 yards. This is a league high 4.7 yards per carry. They scampered to the end zone a league high 25 times.
rush stats - 407 carries - 1931 yards - 4.7 avg - 25 TDs
Offensive line - The numbers in the run game should highlight this impressive front, but they also had a league high 375 pancakes, and only allowed 17 sacks, the lowest number in the league.
o-line stats - 375 pancakes - 17 sacks allowed
Defense - The defense wasnt as totally efficient as the offense, but they did manage. With 637 tackles, 21 tackles and a league high 68 sacks, they were good at keeping opposing scores down. They led the league in both forced fumbles and fumble recoveries with 12/10. Although they were the leagues worst in interceptions with 7, and pass defenses with 64.
defense stats - 637 tckl - 21 tfl - 12/10 FF/FR - 68 sacks - 7 int - 64 pds
Season 16 - Arizona Outlaws - 7-6
passing - the outlaws completed 277 passes in 484 attempts, a 57.2 completion percentage. They threw for 3173 yards, 20 Tds and 9 interceptions and a QBR of 83.1. This passing attack was in the middle of the pack in every category. Efficient, but not breathtaking.
passing stats - 277/484 - 3173 yards - 57.2% - 20 TD - 9int - 83.1 QBR
Rushing - Once again in the middle of the road with 414 carries and 1781 yards, a 4.3 ypc average. 12 TDs was solid, but no better than average this season.
Rush stats - 414 carries - 1781 yards - 4.3 avg - 12 TD
o-line - The one area the Outlaws excelled on offense was the o-line.
With 7/7 FF/Fr and 9 interceptions they didnt force many takeaways, and they were pretty average with only 66 pass defenses.
defense stats - 705 tckl - 35 tfl - 7/7 ff/fr - 48 sacks - 9 int - 66 pd - 1 TD
season 17 - Orange County Otters - 7-6
passing - with 263 completions the otters threw for 3191 yards. This was done in 492 attempts giving them a completion % of only 53.5, the leagues worst. They threw 23 TD passes but met those with 13 interceptions. their QBR of 78.2 was the leagues worst this season.
Passing stats - 263/492 - 3191 yards - 53.5% - 23 TD - 13int - 78.2 QBR
rushing - with 347 carries the otters ran for 1500 yards and 16 TDs. Their yardage was decent with 4.3 yards per carry, and 16 TDs was 3rd in the league.
rush stats - 347 carries - 1500 yds - 4.3 avg - 16 TD
o-line - with 282 pancakes and 18 sacks allowed the season 17 otters o line was average. they did enough to get wins when it counted, but overall not a first choice for champions this season.
o-line stats - 282 pancakes - 18 sacks allowed
defense - recording 659 tackles, the otter defense was decent, but not great. they had the leagues lowest tfl with 14, and were average with 41 sacks. they did cause 5 fumbles and recovered 7.
They threw for only 3321 yards and 24 TDs to only 9 interceptions. their 93.2 qbr was 3rd in the league. a solid air attack, but a bit underwhelming when looking at some of the stats from past years.
passing stats - 252/429 - 3321 - 58.7% - 24 TD - 9int - 93.2 QBR
rush - Running for 1946 yards on 438 carries gave the otters an average ypc of 4.4, good for 3rd in the league. Their 13 Tds was pretty average at 4th in the league.
rush stats - 438 carries - 1946 - 4.4 avg - 13 tds
o-line - With 281 pancakes and 16 sacks allowed this otters front was average across the board.
o-line stats - 281 pancakes - 16 sacks allowed
defense - The season 19 otter defense finished with 602 tackles and a league low 13 tfl. Their 40 sacks was 4th in the league, and they only recorded 10 interceptions which was 8th in the league. Their 69 pass defenses was also only good enough for5th in the league. They did record a safety and a TD however.
