Hey guys and gals and everything in between WildfireMicro here with the playoff race for season 28 explained! This will be a short article about how I see the playoff race going forward with three games left in the season. Honestly my team Philadelphia is basically eliminated but playoffs were not the end all be all for this season for us. This might be a shorter article then usual for me because I don't know how extensively I can talk about this race. But without any further ado let's begin analyzing!
In the NSFC Berlin and Sarasota have clinched already. The bye is the only thing on the line between them. For the defending champions in Sarasota it was basically expected they would clinch with most of thier core still intact. Yes the game where they scored 69 points on the Liberty still stings but the sim will sim and it was funny admittedly. Though I am a bit surprised that Sarasota hasn't clinched the top seed already and it's because of Berlin. My problem with Berlin in the future is that they might have a short window to be this good with how many older players they have. And Kapercolin has been a bit Winston like with his 25 touchdowns to 15 interceptions.
Compared to Kapercolin Mike Boss Jr. Might not have as many touchdowns with only 18 but has only 4 interceptions which is an amazing statline. The thing that has helped Berlin is a really strong defense that unfortunately seems to be really old with only Marlon Brando being a rookie. Hell Hingle Mcgringleberry is a season 23 player who will be heading into regression soon. So I hope Berlin is able to take advantage of the short window they have. In the battle for the third spot we have Yellowkinfe being 2 games ahead of Colorado. I think if Yellowkinfe wins at any point they might be in especially if they manage to defeat Colorado in the upcoming match up between them.
Another thing to keep in mind if that if Colorado loses the upcoming game against Philadelphia and Yellowkinfe somehow beats Berlin Yellowkinfe is definitely in. Colorado has to face them, Berlin and us at Philly next so it's not going to be easy for them going forward when they essentially have to win 2 out of those 3 games and hope Yellowkinfe loses 2 games to hope for the tiebreaker chance. If Colorado wins out and Yellowkinfe loses out then Colorado is in but that is a big if for Colorado especially with Berlin on the way. Yellowkinfe doesn’t exactly have it easy with Berlin, Colorado, and Austin on the way but I personally believe Yellowkinfe gets it in this scenario.
Austin, Arizona and New York are tied for the bye in the other division and it is going to be tight. Arizona getting upset by Philadelphia made them stuck in the tie. I don't know if Honolulu has a chance being 3 games behind. They would need to win out and have one of those teams lose out and they would need to hope that they have the tiebreaker against the team that does. It will be a big undertaking for them but I personally don't think they will. They to have San Jose and the inconsistent Orange County up next but in between they have to face New York. Out of the three tied teams New York might have the toughest schedule going forward having to face both Arizona and Austin and Honolulu next. So Honolulu has to hope to beat New York and win out and have them lose out for a chance at a tiebreaker.
Ok I think it is time for my totally going to be wrong predictions for the playoffs: for the NSFC judging by the remaining schedule Sarasota has the easier path to the bye due to having to face OCO and Baltimore and Philadelphia next so they will probably win out and I think they get it. Berlin has to face Colorado and YKW and Chicago next so idk if they win out. As for the 3rd spot I think Yellowkinfe gets it with Colorado just missing the playoffs. The ASFC is a bit harder to predict but I think Arizona gets the bye despite the upset to Philly because of thier easier remaining schedule with Austin and New Yorm getting the other two spots. I see Honolulu missing the playoffs all together.
Of course all of this doesn't take into account the current tiebreakers which is a big can of worms to get through. Maybe someone else can look through all of that but it might be too complicated for me. I could also be completely wrong with my predictions because the sim could sim. But based on remaining schedule this is what I think will happen. Thank you for reading wlthis short article and I hope to see you all on the field!
