The Oles camp is always training in some way, so it was no surprise that Kazimir Oles JR was ready and prepared for the Grey Ducks training camp, and ready to take his spot as the bona fide, no doubt top QB on the team. The biggest part of training camp was connecting with the new weapons that they drafted for the young QB, Mason Malone and Vincent Sharpei JR. Along with Janis Lux, these three wide receivers should prove to be extremely useful for the development of Kazimir Oles JR. Bobby Tarantino is also a big part of the passing game, as the team’s only tight end. Training camp is a great time for the targets and Kaz JR to build chemistry, and for a team that looks to be extremely successful this season, any chemistry helps to make the team better. The team already projects to have a top running back in John Huntsman, so having a top passing attack would make the team unbeatable. Kaz JR already has time and reps with Lux and Tarantino, so building up that chemistry with the two rookie wide receivers is crucial to the success of the Grey Ducks and will help the team build a playoff and championship contender. Training camp was intense for the Grey ducks, firstly the veterans got told all the call ups, which were few however big names like Tim Soulja, Gluteus Maximus and Anton Bruckner were revealed to have been called up and there was a big party for them, next the new Ducklings were brought in and introduced to the team, getting to know the next generation was as always one of the best parts of the training camp, after that the veterans, Daniel O’Leary included, took them through preparations and started training, Daniel being one of the oldest remaining was one of the main players that led the drills and lead player meetings, Daniel also thought that Tim Soulja was really late to the camp before finding out he was called up, as he fazed out when he was told of the roster change. One of the special plays the Greyducks played around with was a triple quarterback trick play, as two other outfield players were once QB’s and so could be used in trick plays however the practice did not yield results. The camp overall was a great one and the players will be wanting to show the promise in the regular season based on what they showed in the camp, especially the defence.
John Huntsman came off of a solid rookie season and wanted to avoid the infamous sophomore slump. Huntsman was the first to report on the offensive side and began working hard on improving his all around game. Unfortunately he worked very hard his rookie season too and quickly realized he can only improve so much because of his station as a DSFL player. No one knows for sure why this is how it is. Some people speculate that the training staff only knows how to handle players with a grade of 249 or less. After that, they cannot handle how to progress their players any further.
Training camp was a bit weird this year. Anton Bruckner did not report to Minnesota training camp because he got called up to the big leagues. And future Grey Duck hall of famer, Gluteus Maximus is no longer on the team as well. So workouts were much easier this season. At the end of training camp for the season David Frank and John Huntsman got honored with team captains. Both captains have big plans for their respective sides of the ball and have been showing off some creative wrinkles against each other in training camp scrimmages. Word Count: 202
The first ever training camp for Konstantin Selich in his very young professional career was actually more on the uneventful side. Nothing really big happened in it except the usual sort of slight hazing that takes place in those situations. Rookie were responsible for bringing the veteran players their drinks or favorite snacks at times as well as enduring some lighthearted pranks which were not harmful at all. Overall Konstantin really enjoyed this training camp which he might be the only one of his career here down in the DSFL as he is looking to be a part of an ISFL training camp starting from the next season. Konstantin had the chance to pick the brain of some of the veterans on his team like well known Professor Godfrey Gravity who actually gave him quite a few tips and tricks for playing Defensive Tackle on the Kansas City Coyotes. Maybe he doesn't even view Konstantin as serious competition for his starting jobs but who knows in the end. The Coyotes also picked up another Defensive Tackle on waivers which is Hawaii standout Hercules Kamealoha maybe as a way to ignite some fire under Konstantin's butt as they might have felt he didn't gave his all during the training camp and want to push him to become even a better player.
