What's up y'all? Bailey Cook is ready to address the media before the inaugural NSFL Draft, in which he is a projected high first round pick.
So come ask some questions, help yourself make some money and help me make some money as well!
Thanks!

Hmm...what stands out, you ask? Well, we could sit here all day talking about skillsets and statistics, but instead I will bring up my character. I bring energy and life to the locker room, and am always there to support my teammates and give everyone, including myself, the extra push of motivation. Couple that with my skillset, and that recipe for success allows me to stand out. Being from a top ACC program also helps, I reckon.
Do you feel intimidated by the amount of other prospects at wide receiver?
Not at all, I welcome the extra competition. I believe that I have made enough of a name for myself both on and off the field to stand out, so I'm not worried about being obscured by the pack. I love that there are plenty of dedicated pass-catchers, and I look forward to forming friendships and rivalries with many!
Have you been given a fair shot to make a name for yourself?
While I might not have had the early exposure here that some others had, I have made a name for myself in other simulation environments, and that should translate here. I have built a great goalie in the SHL, and my players in the NSBL were destined for stardom before the league folded. I don't mess around when it comes to being the best, and while I wasn't around from the jump on this site, I will be for now on, already establishing myself as a part of this community.
How much sim league experience do you have before this one?
My goalie, Matt Lewis-Flood, in the Simulation Hockey League has amassed over 1000 training points, and my two players in the aforementioned baseball league were regular TPE earners before it closed down.
What defensive back are you most excited to play one on one?
This is tough, as there are many solid prospects. But since I have to choose one, I will go with Phillippe Carter. Enigmatic always makes great players, so I have no doubt that this one will follow suit. If we end up on the same team, practices will be quite fun, and if we don't, well then the games will speak for themselves. Catch me on the line of scrimmage.

How does it feel knowing you'll never be as good as Josh Garden?
I'll tell you one thing, it feels good knowing you think that. Because it means you won't be ready for it when I come for the top. Or maybe I'm already there, we will have to wait and see. I mean, everyone knows you're going first overall to Orange County, so you must be the best, right?
:interview:
What do you think when people say you are going to be a bust?
LOL. They thought. That wasn't me typing on a computer, that was me literally saying the letters. L. O. L. Speaking of L's, that's what everyone else will be taking when I line up across from them. I will be working hard to prove that I will not be a bust. People just love to talk wild.
:interview:
Who is the best cornerback in the draft and why did you hate playing against them in college?
I am partial to Dirk Cutter ( @CaptainCats ), since we are both FSU boys. And while I didn't play against him in college, we were always matched up in practice. I burned him sometimes. Other times, he shut me down, but it was always a fun matchup, even though I couldn't stand it sometimes. Best of luck to him in the draft and maybe we will end up on the same team!
:interview:
How do you expect to win against bigger, faster players? You are not a big WR by any means and speed isn't your strong suit.
I will quote the old music adage: "How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, practice, practice." Now, I'm no piano player out here, but this applies to football as well. How does one get to be the best? Practice, and work as if you are the best. I will keep honing my skills and eventually, talent wins out. So naturally, I plan to win out.
:interview:
Are you upset that you missed the All-American Bowl, and a chance to show what you can do on the field?
I'll admit it, I was a bit miffed. But you can't control the past. Once I realized I was too late for it, I sat up, sighed and said "what a world". It's no matter though, I will be up for the games that truly count, the NSFL games, regular season, and you know it, postseason!
(05-30-2017, 05:53 AM)Ltsmashie Wrote:How would you feel about switching to a CB role if your new team asked you to do it?
I mean, anything for the team, I guess, but I would be bummed out. I am a wide receiver first. There's no second on that list. Especially if I am a high draft pick like many project, then I cant see a situation in which they'd ask me to switch to defense. But I would oblige if it would ultimately lead to the success of the team, it would just require a ton more work. I already put in a ton of work.
What is your biggest character flaw?
I like to thing I have pretty good character, but sometimes I let the emotions get the best of me. I am very expressive, and while I have done my best of late to work on this, it has truly been a process. Luckily I see the light at the end of the tunnel, which is always staying calm, or at least calm[er], even in the face of adversity.
What is the back up plan if NSFL does not work out for you?
The NSFL will work out for me. I don't even have a backup plan, because this is what I was destined to do. I am not even sure if there are other leagues out there that I could jump to, because this place, right here, is where I belong.
When did you find out that Santa Clause wasn't real?
Speaking in real life here, I basically always knew. My parents precipitated it as usual, but as a rather perceptive child, I figured all this couldn't actually be real. Once I actualized this, my parents explained that I was indeed correct, and that the gifts do actually come from them. It was all good.
Who has been your biggest influence in life?
Easiest question I have been faced with so far. My mother. Everything I am today is because of how my mother raised me, and I count my blessings for that every day. I know she is supporting me every step of the way, and it feels indescribable to have someone like my mother in my court, because I can always depend on her.
(05-30-2017, 06:16 AM)Esa77 Wrote:How did playing at FSU prepare you for the NSFL?
Playing for the 'Noles greatly prepared me for the NSFL. I was consistently matched up against prime time competition, both on my own team and the opposition. The ACC teams kept me on my toes, and now I am ready to shut down some professionals. I was born ready for this, but FSU made me even more prepared.
What is your vertical leap?
My vert is 37.0
What's the spread on your hands from tip of thumb to tip of pinky?
My hand spread is 9 7/8 inches.
What was your 40 yard dash time?
My forty yard dash time is 4.68 seconds.
How does your game compare to top WR prospect Josh Garden?
As I said before, he is good. Damn good. But I think, nah scratch that. I know I can be better. Hard work and dedication is what drives me, and I don't plan on slowing down. Bailey Cook will be remembered as a top Wide Receiver in league history.
(05-30-2017, 10:00 AM)theFlock Wrote:Hello Bailey, Chris Jones from the Baltimore Moon, wanted to get a few quotes from you heading into this Draft.
1.) Possession receivers are a dime a dozen in the league these days, especially big physical ones. Can we expect you to put on some weight, or add Strength early in the season?
Yes you can. I will be adding strength in my next update, and will continue to bulk up. I know the importance of being strong, and stated that as one of my weaknesses in the draft profile. That is why I will be working my hardest to improve in that area, among others.
2.) With the few Possession receivers in the league, and in past years, who is the one that you are trying to model you game after the most?
The one I have most in mind is Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald. He has been a favorite player of mine for some time, so I will be modeling most stuff after him. Although my ultimate goal is to be good in every category.
3.) What aspect of your game do you feel is your strongest? What aspect needs the most work?
My hands are surefire, so I would consider that the strongest aspect of my game. My weakest is either strength or endurance, because strength is easier to improve. Both need work, and you bet I will be working on it.
4.) You've stated who you think is the best CB in the draft. Who do you think is the best Safety?
Mayran Jackson is someone who I think is likely to be the first Safety off the board, as he has an established name for himself around sim leagues. As far as newcomers go, though, I feel your player, Ryan Flock, deserves a fair look, and I have high hopes for his development.
5.) Which receiver position do you find yourself the most comfortable in? Do you shine as a X, Y, or maybe in the Slot?
Hmm...now this is interesting. I mean, I can play everywhere, and was utilized as such in college. Slot plays are much quicker to develop, and sometimes I prefer to play there, but I am more than adequate lined up outside as well.
Good Luck heading into this years draft!
Thanks dude, you too!
(05-30-2017, 01:03 PM)Jogn Wrote:Your former 'Noles QB Jameis Christ is on the San Jose Sabercats, are you hoping to get the chance to link up with him again?
Yes, I would absolutely love that. Those around me know that San Jose is a, if not the top destination for me in the upcoming draft, and this is a large part of it. Also, I have interacted with the GM on another site and he is a cool guy who I get along with! With any luck, come Friday, I will be waking up a Sabercat, on my way to California!
Boss Tweed, RB out of Kansas, says he thinks his performances against Florida State are enough to make Kansas a rival. Do you think he succeeded in building that rivalry, and would you have any trouble playing with him in the NSFL?
His performances were quite good, and while they may not have made an entire school rivalry, there was a little something brewing every time he touched the field. But no, I would not mind playing with him, it could be a good story.
The 'Noles look like they'll be sending 6 draftees to the NSFL this year - what a class! I'm sure you're used to getting covered by Barrick Acolyte, King Arthur and Jackson Harris in practise - which one impressed you the most during your time there?
Jackson Harris takes the cake for me here. He was a nightmare to get by, and when I did, it felt so good. That isn't a slight towards the others though, its just that Harris is more developed and ready to take the leap, in my opinion. Best of luck to him and I hope he doesn't cover me too often to be completely honest.
Do you feel any loyalty towards the teams in the NSFL? Your closest team is probably Baltimore, so it could be hard to feel loyal.
No, no loyalties here. That's why I am fine getting drafted to any of the six teams. I know that the Baltimore team is supposed to move to Canada anyways, so that adds to it as well. But, no, I don't have any ties that would affect my signability etc.
Do you think drafting folks from areas that don't have NSFL teams, like Florida, is an important part of growing the league?
Of course, it is always vital to league growth to reach out to areas with less exposure. I am glad to have heard about this league, as it is now the career I am embarking on. I hope to help continue the league's growth by doing the same, reaching out to these sorts of places.
(05-30-2017, 06:07 PM)Zoone16 Wrote:1) You've created quite a successful goaltender in the SHL. Do you think you'll be able to replicate the same success that you've had in the NSFL by having a Wide Receiver, one amongst the many in the biggest pools of prospects for the position?
I sure hope so. My goalie filled a need, so standing out wasn't all that hard. It will be more of a challenge here, but I know that I am up to it. Going above and beyond is how I will get this done. Eating up TPE at every opportunity will help me achieve the goal, and build a well decorated, Hall of Fame receiver.
2) This being the very first draft, do you expect to see any major steals coming from the later rounds. if so, who are you keeping an eye on?
Yes, there will be plenty of steals. I'm not going to focus on specific names, because I believe some people want their draft stock to remain a mystery. But I will say, many of these will come on the defensive side.

Couple Questions for you.
1. Any truth to the rumor that after the free name change announcement you attempted to change your to Bailey Garden..and that Josh Garden has officially changed his name to Kareem Kwanzaa ?
Lmao no this is the first I have heard of this. I will have to keep my eye on this story, I guess
2. If drafted to a team with S.C. Gamecock Vincent Draxel would you be inclined to remind him on a daily basis.." with ME" (hand held high eye level)...."...without ME" (hand held low level with elbow)?
Hmm...this is also a new one. Maybe, I mean, if he needed to be reminded, that is...
3. If you could design your own cleats what would they look like?
I have no set idea of what exactly they would look like, but they would be sleek. Damn sleek. And they would have my team colors in some sort of pattern, because standing out is important as well if you are going to custom design some cleats.
4. You a Car or Truck guy?
I'm a truck person, I drive my pickup everywhere and it serves me quite well. I just prefer the truck style and drive, I guess. (*in real life, I am a car person*)
5. If it was necessary to drive seven hours by limo to a game the 2 prospects you'd be most interested in sharing that ride with?
Well one would probably be Cooper Christmas, so we can have some of these fun conversations to help pass the time, and the other...well that would be Josh Garden so we could have debates on who is the best out of the three of us.
(05-30-2017, 07:58 PM)Grapehead Wrote:Are you worried about helping build this new league?
Of course, I mean I'm not worried as if I cant do it, it is just something that I do and will continue to concern myself with. I love this league so far and would love to help it grow, especially because I see so much potential here. I will be doing my best to participate in every recruitment drive, and bring in fresh blood every draft class. Also, keeping already active players active is a primary concern as well!
Do you think this league can survive?
Yes I do, I think this will be the football league that finally sticks for 50+ seasons, and the largest sports fanbase in the United States and a growing fanbase in other parts of the world will help this happen.
What's your biggest fear outside of football?
I am claustrophobic. I just cant do really small spaces. They freak me out and I can get anxiety attacks about this kind of thing.
What turns a team into champions?
Camaraderie, hard work and dedication. If we have a team full of active players, they will naturally be better than teams with fewer, because updating matters so much at the early stages like this. And many will stay active if they like their team and are comfortable with their teammates. So all these factors build championship caliber teams.
What makes a team legendary?
Repeated success. Turning one championship into a dynasty is a tough task, but those who do it are deserving of the "legendary" status.
