When you have a roster as stacked as the Sarasota Sailfish do, every loss hurts and they’re almost always close. But losing in overtime to the Colorado Yeti hurts the most. The Yeti are a clear rival to the Sailfish, both having been competitive in the NSFC for the past few seasons and often battling for a playoff spot. The rivalry is also fueled by the fact that the teams both sport strong defensive play, particularly from the Linebackers, but then have traditionally taken different offensive approaches — the Sailfish favoring a balanced run and pass offense and the Yeti favoring a pass as much as possible approach. So, when the tough OT match ended in a loss, the Sailfish offense was distraught at not being able to break through the Yeti’s formidable defense and giving in to the relentless blitz pressure. And the defense was disappointed at the big passing plays that the Yeti had managed to sneak between their ranks. So after the game, the locker room was quiet with shame and humility, with players trying to work through in their minds how they could have player better. It was this melancholic and self-deprecating silence that Harrison Andrews finally broke to lift the team spirit. “I know what you’re all thinking,” he said, “I could have played better. But that’s not going to turn back the clock on this game. Yes, we have film to watch and technique to improve, but there will be a time for that tomorrow. Tonight, we go home and we take care of ourselves — we eat right, we stretch and ice our tired limbs. And so tomorrow we will be ready to practice tough and correct the mistakes we made today. Are you with me?” Roused by Andrews’ heart-felt words, teammates one by one began to emerge from their introspection. And by the time the players were leaving the locker room, the chitchat was back to full swing.
The Baltimore Hawks have been a lot of things these past few seasons. We've had very low lows when it comes to our playing time. Being that we were the butt of the joke for the league since as far as I know, its hard to say we even have a rivalry. Until this season, we had the worst record in the league by a mile so it was laughable for other teams to even consider us as a worthy opponent. However, there is one team in this league where the rivalry runs personal: the New York Silverbacks. For those of you who don't know, Chunt The Badger has a deep love and hatred for Colt Mendoza. Once drinking buddies turned foes, nothing has hurt worse than when Colt repeatedly tackled Chunt in one game. Chunt is no stranger to trash talking other teams, but the trash turned into a dumpster fire during that game. The rest of the team isn't fazed by the heart breaking loss, but to Chunt this meant everything. After this game, the tiny little Badger stormed into the locker room and kicked every chair in sight. The pure frustration of this game will forever plague his mind. The only thing the coaches could do to calm him was to ban him from playing in a game against the wannabe gorillas again.
I’ve only been with the Baltimore Hawks for a short while, so it’s difficult for me to come down on a strong rival without succumbing to recency bias. Most of my history is with the ASFC so the NSFC as a whole contain the rivalries I’m less aware of. That said, I would say the Colorado Yeti are our biggest rivals. We’ve each had up and down periods, we’re in the same division, and we have a healthy amount of banter that I just haven’t really seen with other teams. Regarding the tough OT loss, I mean we aren’t under the disillusion that we are serious contenders this season, so some losses can really roll of the teams’ backs. However, an overtime loss is always going to sting, so that’s when you really want someone in the locker gearing people up for the next week. In times like these you always want your team captains to step up, in our case that’s Busch Goose and Tre' Mendus Johnson. Busch is particularly adept at commanding a room, as no one will ever interrupt him for fear of the wrath that will befall them if they do. And who can forget the rally cry of honk honk honk honk! Truly inspiring words that get the team to stand up and say “we will get them next time”.

So in this scenario The Tijuana Luchadores have just lost to The Dallas Birddogs. The Dallas Birddogs are our rivals probably because they are one of the closer teams and also they've been pretty good in the past and obviously Tijuana has been plenty great in the past as well. After losing a team like that everyone is feeling incredibly dejected. Losing to a rival is painful and especially in the DSFL where you only have so many seasons to make your mark. All the players are feeling like they don't even want to keep playing, but then that's probably when Gronku Muerto whom is just awesome. But they're probably the one who could step up and help rally the team and remind everyone that we can't keep our heads down and that we need to bounce back. Gronku Muerto would start by yelling at the whole team to forget what just happened and focus on what the team can do to be better. Then probably someone would step in and start yelling yeah "Gronku is right!" Then IsHe... ReallyInvisible starts yelling "yeah!" and the whole locker room regains its composure and gets ready to get back to work the next day.
It’s a rough week for those in the Minnesota Grey Ducks Locker Room as we just faced defeat to our rivals, the Tijuana Luchadores. Well, you see, it’s hard to have a rival team in the DSFL while there is so much turnover, but at least to Vincent Sharpei Jr., that is his rival. The Luchadores are his rivals because while he was picked up there in the season before his DFSL draft, they didn’t bring him back, and Vincent Sharpei Jr. went to the Minnesota Grey Ducks where he would win the Ultimini in his rookie season, against, you guessed it, the Tijuana Luchadores. While The team is bummed about what is happening, Vincent Sharpei Jr. gets up with his QB, Kazmir Oles Jr. and they both have heartwarming speeches for the team. You have to realize, that both the Sharpei and the Oles line are both well engrained into football, and they are you two most obvious leaders. Outside of Oles and Sharpei, each player is a leader in their own right, but of course Sharpei Jr. and Oles Jr. both have the family and the history, so they are clearly the right ones to get the motivation going for the rest of the Grey Ducks to make sure everyone is on the same page for the next game.

When Von Hayes was on the Butchers, the biggest rivals they had were the Yeti, with the Sailfish a close second. Every game against the Yeti, the Butchers were extra motivated the week going into it. Having faced off against them multiple times in the playoffs, there wasn't necessarily a hatred between the two teams, but a fierce competitiveness was injected into every single matchup between the two teams. When the Yeti knocked out the Butchers in the S27 playoffs, the Butchers were completely shocked and taken back. Having tied with the Sailfish for the best record, and playing at home, they were expecting a phenomenal performance against their rivals. Unfortunately, they came up short in their best season since their inaugural season. The locker room was uncomfortable after the game ended, with the offensive players hanging their heads and staying quiet, as the defense was rowdy and pissed off after a lackluster performance from both sides. Arguments would break out as blame for the game would be tossed around as nobody on the team wanted to take the blame. Such a demoralizing loss to a promising season would make almost any football player pissed, so its no surprise that both sides of the ball went after each others throats. Unfortunately, the Butchers would not be able to make it back to the heights that they hit that season, as they had a ridiculously unlucky season, followed by the beginning of a rebuild. Even though the rivalry has completely died since the Butchers haven't performed as well, the old heads on the team still have a hatred of the Yeti brand.
Losing to our biggest rival is always rough, back in my Minn days are biggest rival (considered by me) were the Norfolk Seawolves, if we lost an OT game against them I would be super devastated and really demoralised, and we always seemed to split in the regular season, and I just hate them. The locker room would be a mess, Norfolk were never good when we played them so if we lost there would be some choice words going around, people looking for answers, my player would be mouthing off but mostly about himself, Daniel would be super critical of himself (unless the offence was really bad) and his emotions would certainly be out in full force. Players that would stand up would be people like Huntsman and Frank, they were true captains on the field and in the locker room, they would get everyone to calm down, discuss what went wrong in the game, what we needed to work on as a team, give out proper accountability, they would gather everyone around and will get everyone focusing on the future and whoever our next game is against, our GM’s would also take control of the situation, making sure the team is together and can move on so we can bounce back.
