14. Describe your player and/or team’s journey through this latest season. What were the highlights? What were the lower points? What might you have done differently? What are your expectations for next season?
This past season has been a good one for me personally but quite rough for my team. We have had a few unlucky losses and some of our star players left or reached the end of their careers so we missed the playoffs and it felt like the end of that era and the start of a new one. I had my best season in the ISFL so far because I finally got to the point where most of my stats were maxed. I had my most ever tackles with 98 beating my previous best of 73. I felt like I was hoovering up a lot of the tackles after they got first downs so these were slightly padded, but I am a safety and so that is kinda my job. I only missed one tackle all season also, so I was reliable and a great safety net for the team. I also beat my Tackles for Loss record by getting 3 this year. I was being used close to the line of scrimmage and was able to get into the backfield and disrupt plays before they started. These aren’t crazy numbers but I had great pass rushers in front of me who were first in the queue. I imagine these will come from plays where I’m sneaking through unnoticed after the coverage was disguised. I forced a fumble this year too which was cool, but had no fumble recoveries. For the amount of tackles I had I would like to force some more fumbles next season. Hopefully with my competitiveness close to maxed I can improve on these numbers next year. I obliterated my best Sack record, getting 9 this year. I excelled at getting to the QB and tied Griddle for most sacks by a safety this year. I also beat my interception record getting 3 which I was really happy about as I’m used a lot more in run defense as a free safety. I also smashed my PD record getting 13 this year. All in all I had a breakout season and really improved on most of my stats this season. I only wish that my success converted into more success for my team too. It bodes well for next year, as I still have one year of earning until I hit regression. I don’t have much left to put into to be fair, but hopefully with more experience in the league my player can really utilise the stats I have more and put up some great numbers.
25. Imagine your current position was not available to be picked when you created your player. What other position would you have picked, and why?
If I could do it all again I would probably be a running back. This was my first time ever doing any sim league so I was not sure how to do it. I didn’t want to do anything that needed you to be too good as I was unsure if I would be that good but still wanted to give it a go. Safety felt like the position that would be needed even if I wasn’t high TPE and that I could do without knowing too much about it. Turns out I did fine and ended up with half decent TPE. Running back is my favourite offensive position and I would probably try and create the ultimate power back. I would have chosen Desperate Dan as my render who is a character from an old comic called the Dandy. This would have been fun to do as I imagine him destroying linebackers like a Scottish Derrick Henry. It would have made graphics more challenging as he’s a cartoon but I suppose that’s easier in other ways. I think it would have been hard to get a job as a starting running back with how much TPE I earned so it probably wouldn’t have worked out. Maybe I could have been a full back for a bit and then swapped to being a running back once I finally got enough TPE. I might have gotten unmotivated though if I was sitting on the sidelines for most of my career, who knows.
