The ultimate mentor who I must always give credit to is none other than @HalfEatenOnionBagel. HEOB was the one who introduced me to the league, helped me create my player, and taught me how to max earn. On top of that, they helped me optimize my update page and organize my sim schedule so that earning wouldn't be an overwhelming endeavor. One of the more satisfying parts of being in this league, for myself, was being an auditor, a job HEOB helped me get with a recommendation. On top of helping me get the job, HEOB sat on a screen share with me to help make sure I understood how to do the job correctly. For all things technical in the league, HEOB has helped keep me from getting lost and I ultimately credit HEOB for whatever success my player might find. Of course, outside of technical aspects, HEOB also gave me some guidance on locker room etiquette for which I'm grateful. I've genuinely loved my time thus far in this league and know I couldn't have done it without HEOB.
Backstone's mentor was none other than the great Nero Alexander. However this was not a mentorship in the traditional sense. It was more that Blackstone recognized (along with the rest of the league) that Nero Alexander was one of, if not the, best to ever do it. So, he has spent the majority of his career watching Nero Alexander film to try and emulate what he could. It was always his goals to reach and even surpass Nero Alexander's greatness and even break the TFL record, but Nero Alexander just wouldn't let him. However, Blackstone did have the privilege of working with Alexander one on one a few times in private drills. Blackstone was humbled by the invitation and even moreso when they struck up a sort of friendship. Now that Blackstone's career is dwindling he is looking forward to being a mentor and example for others just as Nero Alexander had been for him.
It's really hard to talk about just one person that is a mentor to me when joining the ISFL organization. The London Royals organization is top notch and filled with a great team of established leaders, I could not have asked for a better pair of GMs for my first team. @Luciddreams702 and @Sebster are top notch when it comes to leadership. Constantly driving engagement as well as bringing on talent. It takes some strong leadership to accomplish what they have in the London LR. It may not be a winning team but talent is being taken season after season and they just continue to bring in more. London has taught me that it's not all about winning, sure that's nice to have but it's about the environment that you build to keep people active and engaged. I can’t wait to see where Doc ends up in the future. I think Nola is a great spot and @GuitarMaster116 and @mithrandir have been great leaders so far!
Yours truly, Doc Fireball |
