Hello ISFL!
If you're reading this, it means Tatsu Nakamura has just passed up Sam Torenson in rushing yards and might even be on pace to be the first running back (and potentially the last) to hit 14,000 career rushing yards. The end of this season, S34, will be the 13th and final season of my first ISFL career due to auto retirement from regression this off-season. This has been such an amazing career, so much more than I ever could've asked for.
I was originally drafted to the Orange County Otters in the 4th round of the stacked S22 class entry draft. I had a great chat with @"Laser" leading up to the draft and the match was just perfect there. Thank you so much to people like Laser, @Revolution5, @moonlight, @jeffie43, @rapideagle, and all of my other teammates that I loved playing with those first few seasons in OCO. I really saw myself playing in Orange County for my whole career when I first got there, but as all ISFL teams do in time, the team started changing a whole lot and I ended up making the hard decision to open myself up to a pseudo free agency.
After an awesome start to my career, I ended up taking a trade offer from a team I'd grown to hate from a bitter rivalry in my early seasons. Personalities like Zamir had hardened my perspective on the Arizona Outlaws, but after talking with @Z-Whiz and @Crunk I just found myself really blown away with them as GMs. I count the decision to put my trust in those two as the single best decision in my whole two year+ sim career. With the new sim change and the change in scenary, Nakamura really hit the ground running and I enjoyed the start of what were the three most fun seasons in my sim career. Outside of the crippling playoff heartbreak that followed me from OCO to AZ, I have nothing but great memories of my time with Arizona and with all sorts of awesome teammates like @Opera_Phantom, @zeagle1, @LSUFAN101 @ztarwarz, @hotdog, @BRNXB0MBERS, and many more that I apologize for leaving out. I ended my time in Arizona knowing that I'd given them my everything as a player and teammate and that the team had given me so much in return and thanks to that, I'd be a lock to end up in the Hall of Fame with and Arizona Outlaws jersey.
I've had a fun time jumping around after leaving Arizona to pave the way for Cue Jr. and Riggins to take over there. I want to give my thanks to @Dewalt27, @"Laser", and the whole locker room in Berlin for welcoming me into the team for S33 to play alongside another ex-OCO legend in Goat Tank. And of course my love also goes to @ckroyal92, @RussDrivesTheBus, and all of the cats in the SJS locker room. I've been so pleasently surprised with my time in SJS not only for the great LR culture but also for the much more than expected opportunities to carry the ball in my final season. I really didn't think I had anything but a remote chance to beat Torenson's yardage record but thanks to y'all that was possible!
There's still a chance in the chaotic ASFC that SJS will make the playoffs, but I've now finished the last applicable update for the rest of the regular season. Though I'd love to add an S34 Ultimus Ring to this list before Nakamura rides out into the sunset, the bulk of his legacy has now been cemented in the history books. At the end of this season, Tatsu Nakamura will retire with the following accolades:
5x Pro Bowl
3x 1st Team All Pro (2x unanimous)
1x 2nd Team All-Pro
3x ISFL Best RB
S28 ISFL MVP
S29 ISFL OPOTY
ISFL Career Record for Rushing Yards
ISFL Career Record for Rushing Touchdowns
ISFL Career Record for Scrimmage Yards
ISFL Career Record for Scrimmage Touchdowns
ISFL Career Record for All-Purpose Touchdowns

With about two years and two months of my life spent in the league, I wanted to take the opportunity with the end of Tatsu Nakamura's awesome career to take a quick break before I come back ready to take on the next career. My plan is to come back and create at the trade deadline of S35 or S36, depending on how things go in the interim. I'll also be stepping down from my place with ISFL HO. Thank you again to all of the excellent people that I've had the chance to work with in that capacity! If you're really involved in the league and have things that you want to see implemented or changed with the league, you really owe it to yourself and to the league to see what you can do to help with ISFL HO, whether by joining on an internship or by helping in other projects. As many other former memebers of ISFL HO have said in the past (even when I didn't really believe them lol), ISFL HO is a super underappreciated and difficult job, but if you want to really make an impact and give back to the league, that's the best way to do it. Please try to cut your ISFL HO members (and really everyone here) and be kind, I know everyone in this league wants to see it succeed and continue to be an awesome community. I take a lot of pride in knowing my tenure in ISFL HO overlapped with one of the most peaceful and drama free periods in the league, which is much tougher to accomplish than I may have thought.
I still expect to hang around and be active here and there, but I think it'll be really good for me to not have to worry about ACs and PTs for a little while before I come back with what will hopefully be another Hall of Famer!
See you around.
