So, uh, I'm stepping down from the role of GM of the Arizona Outlaws. This is hugely self-important in nature and most of you can stop reading here. Just go. It's better for both of us.
I've been doing this job for 22 months, or 11 ISFL seasons. I love the Outlaws, I really do. Sure, I have had some hand in the mix of people that make up our locker room, but only to keep it with the same character. That was there before I arrived, and it will be there after I go. I'm proud of that.
I've gone a long way from the toxic League of Legends player that saw the S22 r/nfl post and kind of ignored it (I joined up on the S25 one) to where I am now. Let's get to the thanks. And tags, lots of tags.
@"Maglubiyet" - I'm fairly sure you were the first person to contact me in DSFL scouting. You turned out ot be the greatest single influence I ever had in the league, whether you know it or not. Thank you.
@Sylphreni @Highhaschdi - My DSFL GMs. I don't know why you took me 12oa in the S24 DSFL Draft, I can only express my sincere gratitude that you did. The London Royals culture that you created was, in hindsight, exactly what a development team should be. You brought me in on that. Thank you.
@qWest Unbelievable DSFL scouting. Next time up the trade offer. You have two hands, dude.
@katarn22 @platanocat @Swanty @xenosthelegend @y2bobman @Doomraider @gav @Arvot - My fellow Royals in the S24 draft. Without you guys I have no idea whether or not I would have developed the appreciation for the league that I did. I couldn't have asked for a better bunch of people to come in with. I think I forgot JGuy. RIP JGuy. Also, thank you, all of you.
@abh89 @DeadlyPlayer @Modern_Duke @Z-Whiz - You were the old guard in the Royals who made us all feel welcome and really dictated that Royals culture day to day. It was bags of fun. Thank you.
@zaynzk @slate @Pat @Cody @ReverendOReily @zeagle1 - Thanks for contributing to the wider Royals ecosystem at the time. That was a hell of a LR and a hell of a laugh. Thank you.
@Unicorn - THE Outlaws GM. You went against most of your war room to select me at 8oa in the ISFL draft. The last 22 months of my life could have been very different if you hadn't. You have a real talent for drafting (and I am not talking about me.) Thank you.
@Z-Whiz - Somewhere along the line, you picked me to GM alongside you. I still don't fully get that decision, I did not feel prepared for it. Either way, we had many seasons of success. We had more hours than I can count of shooting the shit and just... trying to build something. Then there was the sim change. Oh Lord. We had some times. You're a fucking wonderful dude. I'll come to Oregon at some point probably, we need to have a beer. Thank you.
@Opera_Phantom @BRNXB0MBERS @hotdog @Moosecop - The AZ old timers. You were all cool as shit, and I remember coming to AZ expecting a toxic environment (the whispering campaign was real). You accepted a rookie as one of your own, then as your GM, and I am so grateful. Thank you.
Zamir (I don't know which account to tag) - Thanks for all of the above - because as much as people don't like to hear it, you were a good guy in the LR, but a bigger thanks for getting your head turned to hit FA. Yeah, it resulted in your implosion, but it also gave Arizona the best opportunity to take steps towards winning. You're probably still lurking. Thank you.
@MrStennett Best. QB. Ever. Thank you.
@Kotasa @.simo @hihihi_62 @qWest @CementHands @KaleSalad @allbetsonjames @CptGoosar and far too many others to remember (I am so sorry) - For believing in the AZ project and joining us when you could have gone anywhere. Thank you.
To everyone we ever drafted (or came in with me), you did as much as anyone else to make AZ a team I love. uh... @zeagle1 @LSUFAN101.. there are too many to tag. You are all great.
@Kotasa @.simo the future of the team could not be in better hands.
--------------
Ayy, now for the bit where I big myself up. After 11 seasons as GM, I can say that I had...
122 wins, 53 losses, 1 tie (regular season)... that's an average of over 11 wins a season
10 straight playoff appearances
4 MVPs
A playoff record that indicates I spend most of my time putting my shoes on the table before I walk under a ladder to smash a mirror. What did we win? 2? 3? OK.
-------------
That reminds me, a thanks to @ckroyal92 for forgetting to vote on a GMoTY ballot and so securing myself and @Z-Whiz our one and only GMotY. Over 11 wins per season over 11 seasons. 1 GMotY. The lesson, I think - never, ever try.
Finally, a huge thank you to everyone in head office, who updates or audits, posts points tasks, grades graphics or media, sims, streams, recruits or performs any of the countless roles I will have forgotten. Shit, being a member of this league is enough for thanks here. You're all great.
Yo @Kotasa, you're up
