Season 42 Rookie Tight End Scouting Report
This year there are no shortages of tight ends that's for sure. It is like the DSFL's own episode of Ophah. "You get a tight end! You get a tight end! You get a tight end!" Everyone gets four tight ends. I am selfishly going down this rabbit hole to see who my current and future competition will be. That's right I have my own S42 Rookie Tight End, Hank Mardukas, he's your best friend. Below I am going to break down every tight end rookie and they're current progress. I am also going to take a look at the current state of each DSFL team's tight end depth chart to see who is packing and who is lacking.
Current S42 Tight End Rookies
These rookies are going to listed in order from most potential to has room to improve.
@MouseMazing - Aaron Jäger
Aaron is the top leading TE prospect right now based on approved TPE, totaling 96. In fact he is the only one with higher than the base 50 TPE updated at the moment. Aaron is a vertical threat archetype who is maxing out his speed, sitting at 70. Aaron has 7 additional TPE waiting to be approved, which will push his speed to 71. At this point Aaron's total prospective TPE is 103. Don't sleep on his bank either Aaron has over 2 million big ones waiting to be spent. Mouse has shown a lot of activity on forum threads so look out for Aaron to gather up a slew of TPE before we hit draft day. Aaron would be a great pickup for anyone trying to add an additional downfield option.
@somecoach - Suave Cruz
Suave Cruz is another high end tight end recruit, focusing on being a blocking archetype. Suave has put on an insane amount of effort building up his TPE and his bank account, having $2 Million in the bank after having bought T5 equipment already! Suave has base 50 TPE with an additional 63 pending, for a total of 113 TPE. Suave has a bright future in this league and will surely be an asset to whichever team drafts him.
@Chicken Lips - Hank Mardukas
My guy right here, good ole Yeehaw Hank. Hank is a promising possession tight end, who is working hard to pump up his TPE. Sitting at base 50 TPE, Hank also has 58 more pending approval. Setting him up with a mind blowing 108 TPE. Inside sources indicate he has another +20 in tasks that need to be approved before being added to his update portal. Hank only has ~200k in the bank right now but he has several journalistic items in the fire. At which point he may be able to pick up some better equipment for even more TPE. Hanks current training is gunning for more speed, getting to at least 70, then grabbing endurance and hands. Hank wants to be a versatile threat for whichever team he ends up on.
@Martin.Bachman - Martin Bachman
Martin is another top contender for the vertical threat tight end position. With the base 50 TPE, Martin has another 56 TPE pending for a grand total of 106. With a potential 66 hands, Martin will have the best ball handling skills out of all tight end prospects, though he might be a little slow. Martin also has another $1 million in the bank waiting for the right purchase to cross his table. All I'm hoping is that I won't catch those hands in the regular season. Keep an eye on this one!
@Mossed26 - Mike Gesicki
Mike is a possession tight end and has been putting in a strong effort to build up his TPE. He is sitting at 50 TPE with 26 pending, giving him a potential 76 going into draft day. Mike has been active in the forums but we haven't see a media post yet, hope he can get some money together before the season starts!
@bkemper - Bruce Mendenhall
Bruce is a possesion tight end who has been taking the pre-draft training light. He has a base 50 TPE with 7 pending, though he does have some cash in the bank that he could utilize to pump that number up. Bruce might be a good pick to make sure there is some depth at tight end.
@Ark20 - Daquavion Davis Jr.
Daquavion is a freshly made vertical threat tight end. He has been spotted in the rookie discord but we haven't seen much activity on the forums. There is still plenty of time for him to hit the training field and start stacking up that TPE. He is currently sitting at 50 TPE and has none pending.
@nigsch01 - Mergatroid Skittle
Mergatroid is freshly declared for the DSFL draft. One of the few blocking tight ends in this year's class Mergatroid could offer up some extra beef on the line. Unfortunately, Mergatroid may not have the commitment needed to make it far in the league. Draft Day is 6 days away though, so don't sell the man short. He is sitting at 50 TPE and has none pending.
@MoonMan13 - Chris Jakki
Chris is a vertical threat tight end with 50 TPE. It doesn't look like he has been active after his player declared for the draft more than a week ago. We hope Chris can right the ship and get back to training.
@nickjaredartist - Brett Rumble
Brett is the only other blocking tight end in this S42 class. Brett has the base 50 TPE and hasn't shown much activity after declaring for the draft. If a team is desperate for some extra meat on the line Brett might be for them.
@cbrod45 - Connor Brody
Connor is a vertical threat tight end sitting at the base 50 TPE, although a recent report in the forums has him stating he is a kicker/punter so he may not be long for this (tight end) world.
@"Chrichton" - John Chrichton
John is a vertical threat tight end who went as far as to declare for the draft then ghost his training team. 50 TPE and not much else. Hopefully everythings alright John, we will be here for you when you get back.
That's a wrap on the S42 Tight End Rookie Class. As you can see there is quite a stiff competition up top and some room for others to keep pushing their training to improve. A lot of good options!
Do Teams Even Need a Tight End?
Having spoken with several scouts and GMs over the past few days it has come to my attention that last year's tight end class was just as large, so it begs the question; Does anyone even need another tight end? Short answer, yeah kinda i guess.
Starting from the Top!
Kansas City Coyotes
Kansas currently has 3, yes three, tight ends on their roster, one possession and two vertical threat tight ends. The top TE at Kansas is Andrija Drivac sitting at 154 total TPE. In second and third place have 86 and 81 TPE respectively. Any one of the top S42 rookies would slot in as number two, but then Kansas would have too many TEs. It is likely any TEs Kansas picks up will be swapping positions.
London Royals
The Royals only have one tight end on their roster, Nick Williams a possession tight end. Nick is sitting at 241 TPE and would be a confident first string. It is likely in the next season or two Nick would be getting called up to the ISFL. So now would be great for London to pick up a couple TEs to train and raise up.
Minnesota Grey Ducks
Minnesota has 4 tight ends on the roster and any pick up from the top prospects would be third on the depth chart. Any tight ends getting drafted here will be swapping positions.
Portland Pythons
The Pythons desperately need a tight end. Currently rostered up with one tight end, Jilk Nutler, sitting at 50 TPE. I could easily see Portland grabbing Aaron, Hank or Suave in the first round. The Pacific Northwest has always been good to me anyway.
Bondi Beach Buccaneers
The Bucs have two tight ends on the roster, with the top being a possession tight end, Burnt Toast, with 205 TPE. The second TE appears inactive at 50 TPE. The BBBs are another team in a great position to foster a fresh tight end.
Dallas Birddogs
The Birddogs are sitting on two low TPE tight ends at 83 and 57 totals. Both of these would be eclipsed by one of the top TE rookies. Depending on if they want to train and grow their current players, we could see Dallas grab a tight end early on.
Norfolk SeaWolves
Norfolk is in the same situation as BBB, with two tight ends, the top, a vertical threat, sitting at 217 TPE and the bottom at 50 TPE. Now would be a great time to bring in a rookie to incorporate for the next few seasons.
Tijuana Luchadores
Last but definitely not least we have Tijuana the reigning champs. They don't need tight ends. Position swaps incoming.
Conclusion
All in all we have a broad spectrum of a rookie tight end class, from high achievers to some who have gone AWOL. Coupled with a handful of teams that could really use a strong tight end we may say a few picked up early in the upcoming draft. I'm looking at you Portland. With that this scouting report is a wrap. If you have made it this far I'd appreciate to hear your thoughts since this is my first time doing any scouting, type up a comment below. Though, if I missed anything or if you disagree with me, don't let me know. I respond poorly to criticism. Happy Drafting!
