I think this might be a knee jerk reaction. What you see on the 2D field is the game trying to interpret a roll of the dice. If the result is a 40 yard pass play, the sim just doesn't throw a safety over the top on the 2D field. The result was decided before the little blobs started moving around the field.

If I built a defensive playbook consisting of only corner blitzes and calculated the average yards per catch of the uncovered receiver and compared it to the league yard/catch and was able to prove that they result in completely ridiculous numbers, would this change your mind? I think a corner blitz is the exact type of risk/reward type play that should be in the game. If you blitz more, there should be a possible penalty to it. I think removing this lessens the risk of having a heavy blitz plaubook, while retaining all the reward of it.
