If there is anything that we can all agree on, it is that the sim is always cruel and makes zero sense. Most arguments that go beyond that to explain the problems with the sim result in some vitriolic shouting matches between those that experience the sim and those that have worked on the sim from the ISFL side. Regardless, there are always problems despite the work being done because the sim is stupid. The biggest hot take that I can give is that there are metas even in the new sim. It has been a hot button topic whenever I bring it up, but most users agree that there is definitely a boost to certain archetypes or builds compared to others because the sim at the end of the day is a game. The evidence I have for this this season does not need to go further than with the quarterbacks. Currently, the only quarterback archetypes that seem to do well in the sim are Field General and Pocket Passer with most All-Pro or awards favoring those that follow the meta. Since the switch, you can count on your hand the amount of users that have stuck outside the grain to find any success. Given that the sim favors these two archetypes’ builds, it seems that through this season and for the foreseeable future that experimental users might be left in the dust.
It's been a while since I've done a OCO related piece, but anyway the teams been doing amazing. We're currently 2nd in the ASFC behind the 8-2 Honolulu. We've had some good wins, including against the Cape Town Crash and current Champions, Arizona Outbacks. We just had a must needed win against San Jose to snap a bad losing streak. Our new QB is clearly making our offense work and with the inclusion of young players the roster is flourishing overall. As for my Iosefa, He's been having a solid rookie season outing. 36 Tackles with 6 Sacks is certainl nothing to scoff at. He's not looking like the ROTY or DROTY but certinaly making a Defensive Rookie First Team. As a DE I didn't expect this much success. But my team has really been helping with progression. Being supported by this solid roster truly allows me to flourish as I don't have to deal with a horrible surrounding D Line.
My hot take at this point of the season is that the Honolulu Hahalua will not only not win the Ultimus this season, but they will suffer a full collapse and miss the playoffs this season. Looking at their schedule this season, the team has been impressive but the hardest part of their schedule is yet to come. After the next game against the New Orelans Secondline, the team will go on four straight road games before playing the Arizona Outlaws in the season finale. i think that these final 5 games will be a real challenge for Honolulu and ultimately I think they will manage to choke away their currently spectacular season. If the Hahalua are to prove me wrong, the games against New York and San Jose are their best chance to do so. Both of these teams have struggled at times this season so I can see them being unable to keep Honolulu from the playoffs.
Wait, what? Did you say we’re halfway through the season already? As always, this is yet another season that has gone by in a blur. It seems like we go through so much work in the offseason, then blink and the regular season is over.
Anyway, coming into this season the Sarasota Sailfish were a major question mark. Their long time QB Carter Knight was off enjoying retirement and they were looking at the challenge of starting a rookie at QB for the first time since S34. On top of that, their top receiving threat had been moved in a trade. Surely this offense was going to struggle. Well, that couldn’t have been more wrong. Through Week 10, the Sailfish are in the playoff hunt as the 3rd seed if the playoffs started today. On top of that, they have the #1 scoring offense, total offense, and passing offense. In addition to that, rookie QB Willier Miller and new WR1 Johnny Blaze Jr look like clear cut First Team All-Pros, if not more. Can this run continue for the Sailfish? It will be tough for them down the stretch. Their 3 game stretch from week 13 to 15 will make or break the team’s playoff chances. Code: 206 words

When he was elected as a captain in his rookie year John Stark VIII promised himself that he would not let his teammates down. We are ten weeks through the season and he has certainly not disappointed. As one of the key pieces of the youthful and scrappy Orange County defense Stark has managed to tally sixty seven tackles, 6 tackles for a loss, seven sacks, two forced fumbles, two interceptions, and three passes defended through the first ten weeks of his rookie season. Among rookies, these totals have Stark ranked second in tackles, second in tackles for a loss, second in sacks, first in forced fumbles, and second in interceptions. Each stat in which Stark is ranked second has a different rookie leader. Knowing this, John Stark VIII's well-roundedness surely has him as one of the leading candidates for Defensive Rookie of the Year. We'll just have to wait and see how the rest of the season shakes out before we can make a decision.
Bukowski is kicking poorly. In fact, he's at the lowest percentage for field goals in the DSFL. For casual fans having heard of this kicking phenom out of college, that may be a shock. However, for those who have watched him on the field, the problems are glaringly obvious. The first sign of an issue is when Bukowski brought a golf club out for his first ever field goal in the DSFL. He then providing to swing at the ball under the holders hand like a golf ball. This was of course illegal and penalized, and Bukowski was understandably chewed out by the head coack for his prank (though he did make it through the uprights). What they didn't know at the time was that this was not a prank: Bukowski had gotten his sports confused in the heat of the moment. Once he was explained what sport he was playing, he made the retry. How could he have made such a mental error? We don't know, but he's seemed shook ever since. At this point we must look towards a bounceback season next year.
Through 10 weeks of football, the Cape Town Crash and the Honolulu Hahalua look like playoff locks, both with an 8-2 record, with Cape Town boasting a 5 game win streak. Rookie DE Ryan Lawrence has played reasonably well with 14 tackles, 4 sacks and 1 forced fumble through 10 games. After selling off every single piece of their team, the New Orleans Second Line are where they belong, last in the ASFC with a 1-9 record. In the NSFC, it can be assumed that both Yellowknife and Sarasota will make playoffs, with the last wildcard being coming down to Chicago and Colorado, with Baltimore and Berlin a distance aways from playoff contention. The ASFC is very close, with OCO, San Jose, Arizona, and Austin all within 2 games of each other. In my opinion, OCO and Arizona will scrape in, with Arizona preventing their fall from grace after an Ultimus victory.
Outlaws are kinda in the mix, and have done well in the past few games. I fully believe the team will have a healthy offseason. Carissa's kind of all over the place - she's not doing too hot compared to her contemporaries in tackles, but she seems to be leaning more on offensive prowess with her new team. She's gotten her first touchdown! That's nuts! I never in a million years expected to get a touchdown with my LB but here we are. I'd like to make a bold prediction that Carissa gets another TD, either during the season or in the post, and notches a couple more interceptions under her belt as well. I'll be fine with a low number of tackles if those are the stats that go up. Also I'm an agent of chaos and think that some team is gonna come from behind and win everything. Which team? Can't tell ya. That's part of the chaos.

There is 0 chance that Tijuana is not a lock to take the Ultimini this season. Sure they lost to KCC and BBB, but those were games where half the team decided to take it easy because we had already been doing so well already. Tijuana has the best TPE counts in offense and defense and the most TPE of any DSFL team on the market. With a literal wizard at one of the heads of the team, I don’t see any way that this team is not aiming straight fot the top. Sure my player never is targeted and does not seem to get time at returning, but the rest of the team is legendary and all MVP locks in their own right in my opinion. I think this might be ready to go down as one of the worst players in teh DSFL I’ve ever had but honestly I’m ok with that. I really do think Tijuana is ready to take the Ultimini and I’m rooting for us all the way
