Hey everyone we are back again with my second round of Power Rankings. Going into the final week of the season we have some close races and some teams just killing it and some just falling off. So let's get into it.
14. San Jose SaberCats 2-11 Last Rank: 13
In the 4 weeks since our last ranking San Jose was not able to pick up a win but can you blame them they faced two of the best teams in the ASFC and the best team in the NSFC. Struggling to do much on either side of the ball, 12th in points scored and 13th in points allowed, SJS is probably just ready for that number 1 pick. With 3 games left versus Bal, Nola, and NYS 2-14 is a real possibility for the SaberCats.
13. Chicago Butchers 3-10 Last Rank: 12
Falling one spot to 13 Chicago in the last 4 weeks won 1 versus Colorado and lost three to Orange County Sarasota and Berlin. The Butchers are next to last in point scored which has made games very hard to win when they have been playing from behind. Their last three games of the season are versus Cape Town, Honolulu, and Baltimore. Three very tough games leaving a possibility for the number one pick.
12. New Orleans Second Line 3-10 Last Rank: 14
I have New Orleans moving up two spots because they had a better win than the last four games like Chicago. They went one in three in their last four but they did be a Yellow Knife team that is better than Colorado. Just like the previous two teams New Orleans ranks at the bottom of scoring and scoring defense. The last three games for the second line are a bit easier than the other two teams so I think New Orleans would have a harder shot at the number one pick.
11. Colorado Yeti 4-9 Last Rank:11
So far this season Colorado has been very disappointing. a playoff team last season now A Team on the verge of being in the bottom tier. An offense that is scoring a League worst 19 points a game coupled with a defense that is allowing 28.9 points a game is not going to win many games. with only one win in the last 4 weeks of the Yeti with four wins probably sits just Out Of Reach of having a chance for the number one pick. The last three games of the season are winnable so hopefully for Colorado they can save some face.
10. Orange County Otters 5-8 Last Rank:10
Orange County over the last 4 weeks have gone two and two with a very winnable game versus the crash but they could not seal the deal. Orange County has been very inconsistent this season not scoring at a great pace and giving up points. They are one of the best teams throwing and defending the past but have not been able to keep opponents out of the end zone. The end of the season isn't crazy tough and the otters can play spoiler to two teams and hopefully get back to .500.
9. YellowKnife Wraiths 6-7 Last Rank:7
Falling two spots, The Wraith have gone one in three in the last 4 weeks with losses to Berlin Sarasota and New Orleans. YellowKnife has played a lot of close games with a points differential of 11 points in their last 4 weeks. The team just hasn't been able to find a way to win more than they have lost. And in their last three games they face the top two teams in the division. It would be lucky to finish at .500.
8. Berlin FireSalamanders 6-7 Last Rank:8
Berlin stays the same going two and two in their last four winning the two games versus the Wraiths and The Butchers but losing to the Silverbacks and the Hawks. It seems like this season Berlin has just been playing to their opponents, winning the games they should be winning but losing the games to the better teams. Their offense and defense has just been on the other side of average with the 8th ranked offense in the 9th ranked defense. The last 3 weeks though are games the Fire Salamanders could win, hopefully finishing at or above .500.
7. Arizona Outlaws 7-6 Last Rank: 3
With the biggest fall in this ranking we have the Outlaws falling for spots. a team that has been up and down all year has really hit a rough spot with three straight losses. The Outlaws have one of the best defenses in the league but have been having trouble scoring enough points. Their last three games of the seasons are not gimmes and they will probably need some help to make it into the playoffs.
6. Sarasota Sailfish 7-6 Last Rank:9
Now the team with the largest jump the sailfish have had the opposite luck winning three of their last four and putting themselves into a playoff spot. The team has really stepped it up on defense moving into the upper half in points allowed per game. With three games remaining their playoff hopes rest in their hands alone; a win versus Berlin next week would be a huge step in the right direction. The biggest roadblock there is the crash in the middle of the week.
5. New York Silverbacks 8-5 Last Rank:5
The Silverbacks stay the same going two and two and losing a big game to Honolulu. So far this season the Silverbacks have been very mid. They rank right at League average in most offense and defense stats. I think New York will still make the playoffs. Their Destiny is in their hands With three games left and only one versus an opponent above .500.
4. Austin Copperheads 9-4 Last Rank:6
Moving up two spots the Copperheads went for no over the last 4 weeks. led by an offense scoring almost 30 points a game the Copperheads have positioned themselves perfectly for a playoff run. Their defense has also been playing great, giving up the second least yards in the fifth least points in the league. Also does have one of the hardest stretches left with games versus New York Arizona and Honolulu all teams in the ASFC playoff picture. Copperheads probably need to win 2 of the 3 to secure a playoff spot.
3. Honolulu Hahalua 10-3 Last Rank:2
If only one spot is Honolulu. they are still one of the best teams in the league but a loss to Baltimore in week 11 was enough to lose a rank. Honolulu has still only been allowing 17 points a game Which is 4 Points less than the second place team. They have only allowed 228 points so far this season which is 55 less than the next closest. The only thing keeping them from being great is the offense which has just been slightly above average. Honolulu can still miss the playoffs but they would have to lose their last three games which I don't see happening but they could have a run at their number one seed.
2. Baltimore Hawks 10-3 Last Rank: 4
Going for no since the last rankings moving up two spots are the Baltimore Hawks. Baltimore has been great all season including a win versus Cape Town and Honolulu in their last four the Hawks are really making a push for the top spot. already securing a playoff spot the Hawks will look to move into the top seed with a pretty easy last three games. They will need Cape Town to lose two of their last three though. The top two teams are super close and Baltimore loses out on the top spot by being slightly worse on defense, record and my own personal bias.
1. Cape Town Crash 11-2 Last Rank:1
In first I still have the Crash who after a tough loss to Baltimore bounce back with three straight wins. The Crash are the second best scoring offense and defense and have been finding ways to win games. The top seed across the whole league is in their hands with games versus Chicago Sarasota and Yellowknife. winning two out of the three probably being enough to secure the top spot. Go Crash.
14. San Jose SaberCats 2-11 Last Rank: 13
In the 4 weeks since our last ranking San Jose was not able to pick up a win but can you blame them they faced two of the best teams in the ASFC and the best team in the NSFC.
