(S45) Offseason Task

Being a general manager in a simulation football league like the ISFL allows me to dive deep into the world of football strategy and management. You get to make all the big decisions, from drafting players to creating game plans. It's like being the mastermind behind a team's success!

        Not only that, but being a general manager in the ISFL gives me the chance to showcase my skills and knowledge of the game. I can put my football expertise to the test and see how my decisions impact the team's performance. It's a thrilling experience that can really challenge and sharpen your strategic thinking abilities.

       Another reason why I might be interested in becoming a general manager in the ISFL is the sense of community and camaraderie. You'll be part of a passionate community of football enthusiasts who share your love for the game. You can connect with other general managers, discuss strategies, and even engage in friendly rivalries. It's like being part of a real football family!

       Moreover, being a general manager in the ISFL allows me to be creative and innovative. I have the freedom to experiment with different strategies, player combinations, and game plans. It's a platform where you can unleash your imagination and see how your ideas play out on the virtual field. It's all about thinking outside the box and finding unique ways to outsmart your opponents.

      Being a general manager in the ISFL can be a great way to stay connected with the sport I love, even if I’m  not playing professionally. It's a chance to stay involved, stay engaged, and continue to fuel my passion for football. Plus, it can be a fantastic way to learn more about the game, its intricacies, and the behind-the-scenes aspects that make it so fascinating. 

     I have met countless GMs, all around the league that always seem so nice and passionate about what they are doing. The energy they give off is addicting to be around. The sense of power , excitement , and drive all wrapped into one. My personal favorite GM has to be Electric Tree. This dude from day one, the very first day he signed me was very kind and generous. He helped me get the understanding of the league as a whole that I needed. I was so green and now I feel like I’m a shade of blue. When it came to doing task that I had trouble doing on my phone he told me a way to do it. If I needed tpe added to my player and couldn’t figure it out. He would add it for me. Very helpful and always quick to respond. I want to personally say thank you too electric tree for signing me and being a great General Manager. Not only that but inspiring me to one day become one on my own. 

      Another General Manager I would like to also say helped me figure things out and was extremely nice to me during scouting. TubaDeus this man showed me all about how to medias and had example ready to go to show me. I shot him like 10 questions at a time and he was more then happy to answer and help with them all. I had no idea how to gain money in the league and now I’ve collected almost 10mil since talking with him. Love the energy of the GMs I have honestly talked to, like I said it’s so addicting!

      All In all I believe becoming a General Manager in the league is a job I would not only take seriously but have so much fun doing. I love football and I love the experiences becoming a GM comes with!

16. (5 TPE)

Sarasota completed a dramatic journey through S44. 13 of our 16 games were decided by 8 points or less, including 3 overtime games. The season started on a low note, as we lost our first 3 games by a combined 12 points. But we rebounded with 3- and 2-point victories, which inspired me to create a media series tracking close games for all teams across the entire season. Later on, we won 7 of our last 9 games, many in similarly dramatic fashion, to qualify for the playoffs. Two of our games were even decided by defensive safeties! Upsetting the Cape Town Crash and barely surviving against Colorado in the final weeks were definitely highlights of my first ISFL season. Unfortunately it ended in a loss to the Baltimore Hawks, which would have to be considered another low point. But it was a wild ride while it lasted.

My expectation are high for next season, both for the team and for myself. I hope that the team can become more consistent: we have a habit of either building up huge leads and then taking our foot off the gas, or falling behind early and then rushing to catch up before running out of time. I know "sim's gonna sim" but hopefully we can work on that next year. My player had an okay season statistically - it can be hard to tell with safeties - but I'm hopeful that with another offseason of training and year of earning he will be even better in S45. I don't know if another playoff trip is in the works, as the NSFC is a real logjam at the moment with a lot of pretty good teams behind Cape Town and Baltimore. But we beat both last year, so I believe we can do it again and get back to the postseason.

I like the XFL's alternative kickoffs, where most players line up 5 yards away from each other. Kickoffs have become afterthoughts at the highest level of football, and it would be nice to see them matter again. Also, it's great for player safety. I would replace onside kicks with a 4th and 15 play from the "kicking teams" 25-yard line. I would also make all penalties that result in loss of down (offense) or automatic first down (defense) reviewable, to prevent judgement calls from affecting the game, and defensive penalties on onside kicks would result in a re-try, not a conversion. On field goals, I would add 1 point for each upright or crossbar the ball hits, provided it goes in. So a kick that ricochets off the upright and in would be worth 4 points, a double-doink would be 5, etc. Finally, I would remove the illegal man downfield rule as long as linemen don't make contact more than 5 yards from the line of scrimmage; let the big men run free!

Jamie Orion is a man of few words, but in keeping with his celestial name I could see him having a podcast called "Seeing Stars" in which he invites his fellow players on to talk about all things astronomical. They would be invited to share their favorite constellations and he would tell them everything he knows about the history of the constellation, its mythology, and the first people to "discover" it. Of course there would be some dipping into astrological signs as well, and he would invite his listeners to guess whether or not the guest matched the profile of that sign. Talking about space is also a great segue into other Big Questions people have, such as: are we alone in the universe? What is the meaning of life? What do you most want to be remembered for? The podcast would close with the guest offering their best conjecture on one of these big questions, and how they are working to achieve their goals in the world.

The season is over and the champs are crowned. In the ISFL the Honolulu Hahalua and in the DSFL the Tijuana Luchadores are the season 44 champions.
In the ISFL the Ultimus championship game was between Honolulu and Cape Town. Both teams finished as the #1 seed respectively in their division.
The regular season record for the Hahalua was 12-4 and the season did not start optimal for the Honolulu Hahalua. Week 1 was a loss against the Austin Copperheads and week 3 was also a loss against the New York Silverbacks. But starting with week 4 against Arizona all the way thru week 10 the Hahalua had 7 wins in a row and a record of 8-2 after week 10. For the last six games of the regular season Honolulu went 4-2 and ended the season with a 12-4 record and the #1 seed in the ASFC. In the conference championship game the Honolulu Hahalua faced the New York Silverbacks who finished the season with a 11-5 record just coming of a win in the wild card game against the Austin Copperheads. The game against the Silverbacks was a defensive battle which also is told in the final score of 19-16. The Silverbacks took the lead 16-13 with 1:29 on the clock. Honolulu received the kickoff and started the drive on the 24- yard line and moved the ball all the way to the New York 12-yard line and kicked a 29-yard field goal to tie the game at 16. The kickoff goes thru the endzone and New York gets the ball on their 25-yard line. On the first down play New York QB Falco was sacked and he fumbled the ball and the Hahalua recover the ball on the New York 15-yard line with 4 seconds left on the clock. A 32-yard FG gave Honolulu the lead and the win.
The Ultimus championship game between Honolulu and Cape Town saw the #1 defense in points and yards allowed (Honolulu) against the #2 defense in points and passing yards allowed.
Cape Town was #2 in offense category points per game and yards per game.
The game was excited from start to finish and there were five lead changes. The game started with a bang when Cape Town Nakiri Ayame returned the opening kickoff for 108 yards and the first TD of the game and after one quarter of play the score was 14-7 in favor of Cape Town. In the second quarter Honolulu scored 13 points unanswered to take a 20-14 lead but Cape Town scored a TD with 1:37 left in the half and Honolulu added another field goal which made the half time score 23-21 Honolulu. Honolulu extended the lead to 26-21 with another Ray Baker field goal (the third one from 50+ yards in the game). A TD run from Cape Town veteran RB Jarvis Harbinger-Marjin plus a succesful 2-point conversion gave the lead back to Cape Town 29-26. Another FG from the Hahalua and a TD pass for Cape Town from QB Jerrith to TE American Boot made the score after 3 quarter 36-29 Cape Town.About 3:40 minutes in the 4th quarter Honolulu tied the game with a TD from QB Montagne to RB Bean Delphine jr. The next possession for Cape Town ended in a punt and Honolulu got the ball on their own 25-yard line with the score tied and 7:19 left in the game. After the Honolulu QB was sacked at the very first play of that drive the Hahalua had 9 plays eating time of the clock and ended up with a 21-yard TD pass from Montagne to Octavio Pérez taking the lead 43-36 and only 1:52 left on the clock. Cape Town's last drive of the game started at the own 14-yard line and after eleven plays the ball was on the Honolulu 49-yard line and the down was a 4th and 9. The pass from Jerrith to Harbinger-Marjin was only for 4 yards and the ball was turned over on downs and with 12 seconds left and Cape Town out of timeouts all the Honolulu Hahalua had ot do was taking victory formation and kneel down the ball for the victory.

Alright, I'm going to do one of those mascot fight articles. I've seen other people do this before but I want to give it my own personal spin. Each mascot was randomly divided into two brackets and ranked randomly. The battles will be one v. one and fought on the home turf of the higher seed. Here is how it will play out: 



ROUND 1
#9  @ #8 : On the African savannah, a lone yeti ambushes Crash the rhino by jumping on his back and attacking. While the yeti has the element of surprise, he cannot overcome the pure strength of Crash. Crash bucks the yeti off and stomps him 'til he is no more. Crash advances to face the Hahalua.

#13  @ #4  : The sabercat stalks its prey. As it pounces, the wraith suddenly appears and begins attacking it. The sabercat fights back hard, but cannot land a killing blow. The wraith advances with its death-dealing scythe blows. 

#12   @ #5   : Unfortunately for Sarasota, it is a fish out of water. The silverback simply finds a meal waiting for it and eats it. He advances to fight a wraith.

#10   @ #7   : The Second Line are jamming, providing some great tunes. I mean, what else can they do? Unbeknownst to them, a butcher dances nearby and enters their ranks. She proceeds to "carve them up." Butchers advance to face an outlaw.

#14   @ #3  : For some reason the fire salamander enters the river to attack otter. The otter eats it easily, but the salamander's toxins weakens the otter for the next fight.

#11   @ #6   : The copperhead is sunning itself just outside its den. The hawk spots its prey and attacks swiftly. While the attack is quick, the copperhead is able to get a strike in before it goes down. Although weakened, the hawk advances to face the otter.

ROUND 2
#8   @ #1  : Why does Crash venture out into the ocean to attack the Hahalua, nobody may ever know. But it does. And the fight is actually a good one. It tries to spear the Hahalua on its horn, but the Hahalua's quickness in the water allows it to avoid the deadly blows and take down Crash. 

#13 @ #5  : As the silverback is heading back to his den to recover from the last fight, the wraith strikes. The silverback struggles hard, dealing a massive amount of damage. Unfortunately he doesn't have the ability to use silver as a tool to deal the final blow. The wraith wins due to its supernatural defence and advance to face the Hahalua

#2   @ #10    : The butcher walks into the outlaw's tavern and offers to buy him a drink if the outlaw can beat her in a dual. The outlaw accepts, thinking it will be an easy shot. The outlaw draws and fires against the butcher. She is only armed with a butchers knife. Her amazing reflexes allow her to deflect the bullet and move in for the kill. Poor outlaw never stood a chance.

#11   @ #3   : The hawk, feeling good from its victory, eyes the otter for its next mean. It dives and attacks. Unfortunately from the height of its flight, it mistook the river otter for a cute and cuddly sea otter. The otter dodges and pounces on the hawk. Holding it under water until it advances to face the butcher.

ROUND 3
#13   @ #1  : Even though the Hahalua has the advantage of being in the sea, it simply has no way of defeating the wraith. It can do all the damage in the world but can't defeat it. Maybe the wraith is OP. Oh well, it advances to the championship.

#10   @ #3   : Damn, as much as I want the otter to defeat the butch, I don't see a scenario where it happens, even with the advantage of being in the water. The butcher is simply skilled in carving up animals. She does so and advances to face the wraith in the championship.

CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND
#13   @ #10   : The butcher returns to her shop with the meat of an otter, an outlaw, and several members a second line (oof that got dark real quick   ). As she's getting the meat ready for sale, the wraith appears. It takes a surprise swipe and the butcher. But she knows every sounds in her work area and dodges at the last possible moment. They proceed to tussle, bite each other, and throwing each other again the walls and furniture. The wraith happens to throw the butcher into the china cabinet, where she keeps he family's silverware. The wraith brings the butcher to the ground, ready to deal the final blow. At the last moment the butcher grabs a silver fork and plunges it into the wraith's heart. The critical hit does the wraith in. And that's how the story goes. The butcher is your mascot death battle champion.
