It's a tight race in the ASFC at the moment. After a fantastic 6-0 start, the Copperheads have alternated losses and wins to be sitting at a 9-4 record heading into the final week of sims for the regular season. Along the path, we still have to face our old rivals and current ASFC leaders, the Arizona Outlaws. So long as we keep above the Sabercats or the Otters, we should be fine though. Our claim to fame this season has been the best defense in terms of yardage paired with a top 3 offense. Jay Cue III's sophomore season is tracking to be even better than his rookie year despite a bigger focus on the ground game through Howard Coward. On the defensive side, one of the big difference makers this season has been third-year LB Crasher Wake, who is tied for the league lead in sacks ahead of some veteran partners. Geralt has been ranging the secondary to lead the team in picks while 2nd year corner Trent Thigpen leads the team in pass breakups. If we can regain some momentum, the 1 seed for the ASFC (and a first round bye in the playoffs) is still in reach!
The Arizona Outlaws have been enjoying a pretty successful season, and currently occupy first place in the crowded upper echelons of the ASFC with a record of 10-3, good for a .769 win rate. Competition is fierce with the Copperheads and Otters close behind at 9-4, and San Jose only another game back at 8-5. 2 of our three losses have been to Austin and Orange County respectively, with a mildly surprising inter-conference loss to Sarasota mixed in. The competition in the NSFC is a little less intimidating, the obvious exception being Baltimore, which represents the most significant challenge with their dominating 11-2 record. Arizona is led by both a potent offense (PF is 2nd in the ASFC behind OC, 3rd overall in the ISFL) and a competitive defense (PA is 1st in the ASFC and 3rd overall), setting us up for a strong chance at the Ultimus. Baltimore looks like they have the best shot currently, but after their surprising defeat in last season's playoffs, we know they aren't invincible. There's no such thing as a slam dunk, and sim definitely going to sim, but I'm feeling confident the boys can bring it home!
My team the Yellow Knife Wraiths have been barely holding on to hopes of a playoff appearance. We started out with little hope, however this young team is starting to get strong enough to have bagged some surprise wins. It really has come down to the game planning I think and giving ourselves the chance to get a coin flip. There were so many games that we really pushed the game plan to get an outcome of 40% chance. With that 40% chance we have come out winning that slightly skewed coin flip a surprising amount. This has come down early in the season when we have been really efficient scoring. Our team had the lowest amount of yards but we scored with every drive. Now we are seeing a lot more settling for a field goal at the 3 yard line or being pushed back due to penalties to make us have to take the three points. We definitely need to find another WR as well as another RB this offseason so that our team can with stand some of the upcoming losses at key positions. The good news is we are young, and should be only getting stronger.
s43 Baron Nomination for Best Author, and Best New Author. Quite possibly, the greatest compliment I have received from anybody. I am no author I draw because I can not write. Most of you can not read.
Every season, except one we don`t talk about Arizona Outlaws is an Ultimus contender. This year is no big difference. While ASFC has been a blood bath Outlaws still come out on top so far. Their QB, Donovan Winters, finally found his groove and is having very efficient season with 24 to 4 touchdown to interception ratio. Add to this powerful rushing game with two good running backs, and pretty stout defense and you have a simple, yet effective recipe for success. While they are not as dominating as in their championship seasons Outlaws are still good enough for third in both scoring offense and defense. But the conference fate is still not decided as Orange County Otters and Austin Copperheads are just one game behind, and first round bye will very likely be decided in week 16 game against Austin. And we cant forget about surprising NSFC leader in Baltimore Hawks, who are the best team in the league right now according to statistics.
Wow, this season has been an interesting rollercoaster that hasn't stopped since the start. The bad part? I've loved every minute of it. Our season has given us a very good look into the future of the Norfolk Seawolves—the bright future that we have. My second year has been very below average at best, but I've been able to help our team in key moments when it matters most, and we're trying to make a run in a very tight division. Now, if we can't make a deep run into the playoffs, I think that we will have a very good shot at making it next year. Our team, depending on call-ups, will have an upgraded unit with guys who are determined to develop and make each other better off and on the field. On top of that, we will be able to get another chance at bringing some rookies into the locker room. All in all, our season has been a success, no matter the record we have. There is good chemistry on the field and in the locker room, which will only keep improving with even more talent this offseason.
Thank you Dangerson
Playoffs while admittedly unlikely are still on the table for the 4-9 Berlin Fire Salamanders. Somehow through 13 games, no team has been eliminated from the playoff hunt. Starting the season 3-3, a midseason slump saw Berlin drop their following six games, 3 of which were by a margin of less than 3. Offensively, the Fire Salamanders have been streaky at best. When the offense is moving the chains, Berlin looks competitive but the lack of consistency has prevented them from putting up points and has put the defense in some tough spots through the season. Winning out does not guarantee that Berlin makes the playoffs but in reality that's all that can be done. Get the job done these last 3 games of the season and hope that results fall in Berlin's favour. It's not the most hopeful of situations but that's how it is. The offense needs to get on a roll and if they can string together longer drives that too would help the defense out. As one of the older teams, it's no doubt that getting some rookies at key positions would be important moving forward. On defense, adding some new faces at linebacker and in the secondary would be important while on offense, some offensive line talent particularly at right tackle would be welcome.

After finally breaking out of their rebuild, the Orange County Otters are right in the chase for the Ultimus. Despite a tough loss against Chicago at home, OCO still holds the 3 seed with the Copperheads, it is a very real possibility that they will be their round 1 matchup if both teams make the playoffs. The 1 seed isn't out of the picture however, as the Outlaws have just 1 more win at 10-3, so if they were to lose 2 of their last 3, OCO would be in prime position to capture the 1st round bye, as they have 2 home games left against the rebuilding Silverbacks and Hahalua. As for the Otters title chances, I believe they can make it as far as they want as long as the offense keeps performing to the level it has been, with MVP candidate Reginald Shrubbery leading the way, the sky is the limit for this Otters squad.
The playoff picture in the International Simulation Football League this season is among the most crazy in the history of the league. The ASFC Playoff picture has the Arizona Outlaws at 10-3, the Austin Copperheads and the Orange County Otters at 9-4, and the San Jose Sabercats at 8-5. With only three teams making the playoffs each season, it is going to come down to the wire between these powerhouses. Arizona has games at San Jose and hosting Austin and Yellowknife remaining this season. They will need to avenge an earlier loss in Austin to have a chance at the first seed in the conference. Likewise that game is a must-win for Austin to have a chance at the first seed and a first round bye. OCO has the easiest remaining schedule of the four teams in the playoff picture, with only a game at San Jose standing between them and a playoff berth. All in all, Arizona has a great shot at the first seed and a good shot at winning the Ultimus

Well this is sad because the Silverbacks are out of playoff contention and therefore we can't win the Ultimus this year. However, the end of the season turn around for NYS has been a fun to experience in the locker room. I do not want to risk leaking the strat that has lead us to back to back OT wins, and an upset at Austin because other teams could use it against us. However, it does involve one of our players not watching the stream and that has led us to a 3-1 record. People should watch out for New York next year because we will be using this to our advantage in all the games. I am excited for this next draft though. It is a very deep and strong class so I think we will be able to pick up some rookies that will help surge the team to an Ultimus sometime in the next couple of seasons.
