JJ’s First Round Mock Draft 1.0
Here is the first iteration of my first round mock draft. I will probably update this mock draft at least once but maybe 2-3 more times, depending on new information that comes out, or if I change how I feel. I spent a lot of time doing research on these picks, interviewing every GM, and a lot of these players as well. I’ve consulted with the higher ups in the Norfolk shadow council, and will be including a confidence meter within my picks. This is intended to be as ACCURATE as possible. If you have any leads, please DM me! Especially if you are one of the players on here and think I may be wrong ?.
Confidence Meter
0-19% - Crapshoot
20-39% - Could swap another player here and it would serve the same purpose
40-59% - Likely but the draft will be unpredictable
60-79% - This is what they should do! Unless there’s some super secret info I don’t know about.
80-100% - Literally a lock! Unless the prospect has some skeletons in the closet.
1.01 - HON - Walter Yensid - CB - @WalterYensid
Confidence meter: 90%
Reasoning:
HON has a lot of options here but they choose to grab the consensus 1OA here in Walter. A good user and an even better earner. He will lock up WRs for them during this rebuilding phase and be a cornerstone of this defense for the next 10 seasons. A surefire, no brainer pick here from Icebear. Walter wants to go here, so make it happen HON!
Potential other picks:
- None. Don’t be dum dum HON.
1.02 - HON (via NOLA) - Brad Woof - WR - @Brad Woof
Confidence meter: 60%
Reasoning:
This pick was very difficult for me to make and I spent a lot of time going back and forth on it but ultimately I think HON really needs a WR and if they wait till the 2nd, they may not like their chances. They pick up in my opinion the best WR of the class in Brad Woof, who has expressed keen interest in going to HON. Getting a top tier offensive and defensive player with these two picks is key here!
Potential other picks:
- Dunkler Sowerwine (DE) @oknom
- JJ What (WR) @JJ5
- Tim Riggins (WR) @shahdude
1.03 - BER - Roquefort Cotswald - CB - @roquefort
Confidence meter: 70%
Reasoning:
Berlin needs some help in the secondary and defense, and this would be a good match. Gadget is a Norfolk war room member and the new GM of the Fire Salamanders, so he knows just the type of user Roque is. He is a top 1 talent and getting him here at 3 is a steal. He has been a delight as a teammate and I’m glad I got to play with him. He’s been helpful in the war room and I can’t wait to boss him around next season. Berlin might go LB here, or go with a recreate, but I really think that they want to snag this guy with their pick. Gadget will probably just follow this mock and pick him because of this.
Potential other picks:
- Lyle Robideaux (LB) @Figgy
- Huge Yakman (LB) @Vulfzilla
1.04 - COL - Dunkler Sowerwine - DE - @oknom
Confidence meter: 60%
Reasoning:
Colorado could go WR here, and I wouldn’t be surprised. They need WR help, but if Dunkler somehow falls to them, I think you have to go take him, especially with the aging DTs on your roster. Dunkler is open to position swapping to DT and could do that to help Colorado plug up the middle of the D-Line.
Potential other picks:
- Tim Riggins (WR) @shahdude
1.05 - NYS - Tim Riggins - WR - @shahdude
Confidence meter: 50%
Reasoning:
NYS is thankful that COL didn’t take Riggins because they need a WR! They are guaranteed one of the top users above and I think this top 5 will stay the same, but the order could change a little. Riggins is too valuable of a user to pass up and will be happy playing in NYS where he will be needed. A lovely user who I’m sure scouts very well. NYS could just as easily grab a RB here though, but I think that WR is a little more urgent. There is good depth at RB here whereas I think all the top WRs go in the first. If they don’t grab him, CTC will. They definitely want to focus on offense. If Dunkler falls here, I think they grab him though. I don’t expect the 3 teams above me to let that happen though.
Potential other picks:
- Reginald Hammerfall (RB) @Fangorn
- Dunkler Sowerwine (DE) @oknom
1.06 - CTC - Dominic Reynolds - OL - @standardan
Confidence meter: 30%
Reasoning:
This is where things start to get murky. Dan is a great user and anyone who talks to him will know that. I think he’s a little slept on despite being an HO intern and earning very well. He’s active, and open to position swapping. CTC won't play him at OL, instead moving him to WR or DL. CTC could go other ways too, but it really depends on how the top 5 shake out. I think if any of the top 5 above don’t get picked, CTC will go in that direction. They could also grab an RB and do some position swapping on their team to fill the holes. If I was negs, this is who I’d pick. But I’m not negs and I have no idea what he’s going to do. Hopefully leave KC Gordon alone. There are a few DEs they could pick up who are sneaky good users too. Blix is under the radar and NC talks too much but he could definitely fit in on that team. Jiggs and LCC are in Norfolk war room and stalking us. Help.. help.. help..
Potential other picks:
- Reginald Hammerfall (RB) @Fangorn
- Ranch-Ranch Pizza-Man (DE) @TheNC206
- Luke Laraque (DE) @Blix900
1.07 - CHI - Reginald Hammerfall - RB - @Fangorn
Confidence meter: 45%
Reasoning:
I think Chicago should go Fangorn here given the selections above. They need an RB to pair with Trevor to tear up the league for the next 10 seasons. It gives them some flexibility in swapping positions, though I know Fangorn is set on RB. He’s a great user and easily first round material. Scouts are high on him and I know that GMs have a R1 grade on him. It’s just a matter of getting him on a RB needy team. Chicago is a good match and they’d be silly not to take him here.
Potential other picks:
- Ranch-Ranch Pizza-Man (DE) @TheNC206
- Luke Laraque (DE) @Blix900
- Lyle Robideaux (LB) @Figgy
- Dominic Reynolds (OL) @standardan
1.08 - SJS - Lyle Robideaux - LB - @Figgy
Confidence meter: 60%
Reasoning:
Figgy’s a quiet dude but I think he’s a lock for round 1, or should be at least. He’s a nice user and great to talk to. Not as active as some of the premier yappers in this class, but SJS needs an LB, and I think Figgy fits the best with this team. SJS could go a number of ways with this pick but I think that they get an LB. Even with Calhoun leaving, they can still grab a solid WR with their 2nd rounder or even work some position swaps around. They acquired Florida Man from a trade and don’t need WR right now that urgently. This team might not be as competitive next season, so I expect them to retool accordingly, especially in such a stacked conference.
Potential other picks:
- Huge Yakman (LB) @Vulfzilla
- Bean Beanman (LB) @Seymour
1.09 - YKW - Lane Wilson - WR - @dustywilson22
Confidence meter: 90%
Reasoning:
A former YKW player, Lane Wilson is returning to Canada in this draft. I see the Wraiths going for this and I have it on good authority from a little birdie that these two reconnect. YKW needs a WR/RB and Wilson can fill that role. They get a max earning recreate and someone they can trust. No point in gambling on a newcreate this late in the first round. I think you’ll start to see that trend after the last pick.
Potential other picks:
- None
1.10 - SJS (via SAR) - Mooty Poop-Eater - CB - @Asked Madden
Confidence meter: 90%
Reasoning:
A recreate who was on SJS for his last player. He’s a max earner who SJS will surely love to bring back at a key position. They will probably grab a shiny newcreate with their first pick and then grab Madden with this pick here. I’m pretty confident in this pick as it makes sense for both sides. The little birdies in Norfolk have been helpful.
Potential other picks:
- None
1.11 - AUS - Soul King Brook - RB - @TwoSocks
Confidence meter: 60%
Reasoning:
Similarly to the last two players, Austin reunites a recreate with the team again. TwoSocks max earned with his last player on Austin and is a war room member there so Austin should have no qualms with bringing him back, and perhaps slotting him into WR. It would make sense given their heavy need for the position. Austin will do their due diligence here though and could select another WR.
Potential other picks:
- María Teresa de la Rosa (WR) @Baron1898
- JJ What (WR) @JJ5
1.12 - OCO - SkibidGyat OhioRizzler - CB - @Cloud
Confidence meter: 80%
Reasoning:
I am pretty confident that OCO could pick up Cloud here as none of the teams above are that CB needy, or if they are they already got a CB (SJS, BER, HON). Cloud will be the last of the big 4 CBs to be picked in the first round and may even fall to the 2nd just given his risk with his last player not working out. Teams are aware of that. I think he’s going to be a steal because of that, but I think Roque and Walter will go ahead of him. OCO gets a great value here in Cloud and there is some connection with OCO and Dallas, given both their GMs play for OCO. They know the type of user he is so I’m sure he gets picked up here.
Potential other picks:
- None
1.13 - BAL - JJ What - WR - @JJ5
Confidence meter: 50%
Reasoning:
Hey! That’s me! I’ve had pretty good talks with Baltimore and would love to play there, which I can’t say for every team! They’re one of my few preferences for my landing spot in the first round. We’ve had good talks but then again I’ve heard a lot of prospects say they’ve had good talks with BAL lol. Swoosh has been awesome and they are going through a rebuilding/retooling phase right now. Top of the league and potential Ultimus favorites for now though. They desperately need WR though after DL and them parted ways. They could easily pick Baron here though. I know she would be happy here too. It’s just a matter of what the war room decides to do. Pretty much a 50/50.
Potential other picks:
- María Teresa de la Rosa (WR) @Baron1898
1.14 - ARI - Sewage Joe Fantringham - DT - @BRNXB0MBERS
Confidence meter: 90%
Reasoning:
I think this is pretty much a lock. BRNX has been telling teams he’d like to play for Arizona and seeing how he played for Arizona for his last player, it makes sense for both sides to embrace each other once again. It’s not a sexy pick (none of these recreate picks are tbh) but it will help their DL out a lot. No point in gambling on a new user this late in the first round. A lot of the surefire blue chip prospects will be gone at this point.
Potential other picks:
- None

Thank you all for reading! I hope you give me some weight in my choices as I spent a good amount of time working on this and reaching out to people. It’s not a sexy pick (none of these recreate picks are tbh) but it will help their DL out a lot. No point in gambling on a new user this late in the first round. A lot of the surefire blue chip prospects will be gone at this point.
Potential other picks:

Some notes for the reader:
- I think the top 5 stays the same. You can shuffle the order around a bit, and swap Woof for Dunkler / Roque. HON has a lot of options and Icebear is being a poopyhead and not telling anyone what his evil plans are. That top 5 is probably the consensus top 5 on most boards.
- Walter 1OA!
- YKW, SJS, AUS and ARI are all suspected here to pick their respective recreates that played for them. Given that it’s later round picks, I think it makes sense, unless they decide to trade up for one of the shiny top 5.
- Baron and I are pretty stingy with our draft demands, and that’s why you’ll see us falling. HON could take any WR though except for Baron, since it’s known she does not want to be picked up in the first 2 picks.
- BAL will probably pick either me or Baron up.
- Picks 6 and 7 were very hard to predict and I honestly don’t think that they go in that direction. Those picks are kind of a placeholder as of now, but I think they’re the right decisions for those franchises. If I was in their place, that’s who I’d pick and that’s who would make the most sense. But the draft is about user fit. So it’s possible that they don’t end up there.
- There’s a chance Berlin picks up a LB. It all depends on what they feel like is the best fit for the team. That could upend the top 5 and give CTC a chance at one of those players.
