Handling a loss can mean a lot of things depending upon your situation. As a rookie with the young Austin Copperheads, Seer Ial came into the season knowing it was a rebuilding year and that losses were to be expected. And honestly, not having the expectation of winning makes the losses not sting so much, especially since the draft format tends to reward teams that receive a few L's along the way. Knowing all this has made it much easier to keep team morale up because in a weird way we were not being let down. Still, things always feel just a little bit sweeter after a win. The most important part of handling a loss, even in seasons like this, is taking the time to watch the tape and figure out just what were the causes behind it. Are we committing dumb penalties that are avoidable? Are there opportunities in the way we are positioning and running plays? Do we simply need to work on getting bigger, faster, stronger? Nailing down the reasons for the losses now, even if we may not be equipped to make all the necessary adjustments in the short term, will make us stronger as a team when it comes time to make the conquest for an Ultimus.
