*I'm only doing offensive players because I'm going to be drafted as a defensive players so I want to avoid bias...nah. I'm just lazy.
**This list includes everybody who hasn't been drafted into the DSFL yet. Regardless if they were picked up on a waiver claim last season.
I just figured I'd give my rundown, position by position, of which offensive players I believe are going to make the biggest impact this year in the DSFL that are going to be rookies. I thought that it might be interesting to get an upcoming rookie's take on the upcoming rookie class. Then again, maybe not. But regardless, let's dive in starting with the most important position, at least in their minds, the quarterbacks.
Quarterbacks:
1. Wolverine Justice - Pocket Passer - This is probably the easiest choice of the list. What do you get when you mix a good build, with an active member? A high draft pick. Although it's also pretty obvious he doesn't want to be in the DSFL long, the one or two seasons he is on a team in the DSFL he will be the starter and he will be a good one. I expect him to be one of the first couple of picks in the draft, and wouldn't be surprised in the least if he was the overall number one pick.
2. Isaac Brown - Mobile - A mobile quarterback has proven to be successful in the NSFL but it requires a good build. His build is... a bit all over the place if you ask me. Increasing several attributes at a time, a little at a time, can work, but I'm not the biggest fan as of now. He was last active 3 days ago which is also slightly worrying. He will be a solid pick if active but I would be surprised if he went in the first round or even the second.
3./4. Callum Grey and Mitchell Stars - Both of these quarterbacks haven't been active in a month or more. Don't expect either to be drafted early at all. Basically if a team want a minimum TPE QB, pick these guys up.
Running Backs:
1. Sydney Spinelli - Speed Back - Another really easy choice. Easily the most active of the upcoming RBs, he has accumulated the maximum amount of TPE thus far in his short time. I'd be surprised if he didn't go first round and can only see it happening if teams really draft with their defenses in mind. I'd expect him to go no later than the second round and if somebody gets him in the second round that would be a steal.
2./3. David Turner and Thomas Mango - Both haven't been active since they joined which is a worrying sign. I see these guys as I see the two inactive QB's above. They are a skill position but very possibly inactive so they will get drafted somewhere near the end but not among the last couple.
Wide Receivers:
1. John Wachter - Possession Receiver - This was the first tough choice so far. There are two WR's that I think will have an impact this year in the DSFL and choosing between them will be the GM's job. But if you have to ask me, John Wachter is the way to go. He has been hyper active thus far and has written some excellent media pieces. He is accruing money and TPE like they are going out of style and I believe he is going to be a force in the DSFL this year. I can see him going number 1 overall if they are looking for a WR. You heard it here first, John Wachter is going to be a monster in the DSFL this year.
2. Fresh Booter - Red Zone Threat - A very active member plus a red zone threat WR? Sign me up. Whatever the line is on total touchdowns in his rookie season, I'll take the over. He is going to kill it this year and I can definitely see him being picked over John Wachter especially if they want a red zone threat wide receiver. Plus he has experience as he was picked up on the waiver wire last season. Whether he's drafted as the first or second WR in this draft, it will be early on and likely in the first two rounds.
3. Kenny Omega - Route Runner - Cam Newton's favorite kind of receiver, one that likes routes. I can see Kenny being very successful this year in the DSFL seeing as how he has been quite active early on and that is always promising. If a team is specifically looking for a route runner, taking Kenny Omega over the other two might be worth it. But regardless, he is going to be a solid pick somewhere around the third or fourth round.
4. The Rest - There are three more wide receivers in the draft class, Banyard, Ball, and Charles. All of which haven't been active in several days. Don't expect these guys to go early at all. End of the draft fodder.
Tight Ends:
1. Carlito Crush - Balanced Tight End - Very active, has experience playing in the DSFL, sounds like a first round draft pick right? Well, I want to agree. It will be interesting to see where Crush is drafted because he is a tight end. It's no secret that tight ends just don't do well in the DSFL but Crush is going to be different this year. He joined at an odd time so he missed the last draft but has a sizable TPE advantage over the other players in this draft. I'd expect him to be drafted early and have a great impact in the DSFL this year; even as a tight end.
2. Brandon Carter - Possession Tight End - He appears to be active which is important as a tight end. It'll be interesting to see where the two tight ends go in this draft and Carter is certainly being picked after Crush so who knows where he is going to go. I'd guess third or fourth round but it's really tough to judge. Regardless, I think he will have a solid season but it's gonna take a couple DSFL seasons to be ready for the NSFL. And this might make him a more appealing draft pick.
Offensive Line:
1. Jett Winter - Technician - Very tough choice with the top two offensive lineman. I'd honestly say that at this point, Winter and the next man on my list, Sierra, are both equally appealing. Both appear active and ready to jump into the offensive lineman scene which isn't changing in the DSFL. Should go early, first two rounds if I had to guess. But I could see him sliding to the third possibly.
2. Ryan Sierra - Athletic Lineman - As I said above, Sierra and Winter are very close in my humble opinion. Both have been active and give off the impression that they want to play offensive line which is promising. I'd say Sierra goes right around the same point as Winter in the draft. Either second or third round.
3. Ray Riemann - Athletic Lineman - Not much to say here. Clearly the worst/least active of the offensive lineman in this class. He will likely be among the last rounders of this draft. Rest in peace Riemann.
And that's it folks!!! All of the offensive prospects in this coming DSFL draft. I wish I could go over the K/P and the defensive players but alas, no time. Look out for my draft recap some time over the next couple of days where I will go over some of the picks and maybe then I will key in on the defenders in this draft.
Good luck to all in the draft tonight! Well, good luck to myself that is.
