So, while perusing the media and the fine S51 DSFL mock draft, I saw that Swoosh asked for an early S51 ISFL Mock to be dropped. Well be careful what you ask for, you just might get it. Now, yes this was totally a comical request I am sure, but it seems like it might be a fun exercise after doing my S50 mock draft, and I do intend for this to be a serious mock draft, unlike my previous one which will probably be totally wrong since I probably go 1OA being the great whit of a player that I am.
So, how will I go about this.
1) Well there might be more trades coming and obviously there will have been a draft coming up this Fri. So, I will go on the rosters right now and will project a year a head on players further regressed and will hypothisize what was taken in this draft and what is still needed.
2) No idea what the draft order will be, so I will randomly drw a number from my head corresponding to the alphabetical tab in the draft tracker for S50 and that will be who drafts.
3) I am sure more people will create between now and the trade deadline so many people are not involved. Their loss who cares about them they will be drafted last. And here we go....
Pick #1
And first to draft is tab 4 Berlin. They traded away their !st round pick last year so who knows what will happen this year, Go Go Gadget picks. In S50 draft they probably S, LB and an OL. So, now they have aged another year and what are they looking for? They are still a super young team with no real new players facing the regression buzzsaw. However, there might still be two positions of need depending on how S50 draft did work out and that is another LB or DL. At this point in time they are in luck that these are two of the most created positions thus far for the S51 draft. And this pick is in...
With the first pick in this draft Berlin selects out of Universidad de Salmanica LB Miguel Caballero Rojo. Tab 8 you are on the clock.
Pick #2
Tab #8 is the Honolulu. The team that had Berlin's 1st pick last year follows right after them. They really cleaned up last year taking LB,S and WR in the bargin. Wow looking at them now, they are a stacked young team ready for a long run. Don't really see many holes at this point. They might just go for BPA or even trade out of this pick, K is their most needed position, but do you need a K? There is no K, so next. The BAP is a QB, so pass again and that leaves us with....
With the second pick in the S51 draft Honolulu selects out of Clemson DT Al Porpoise. Tab#2 is on the clock.
Pick#3
Tab#2 happens to be Austin. In S50 they decided to go with their DT, and also scooped up some WR reinforcements. They are slightly on the older side with some regression about to take hold. CB could use some help at this point and so could RB maybe and They only have 2 human OL and an aging QB. Will they shock the world and take an OL or QB first?
With the 3rd pick Austin take out of Arizona State CB Xavier de la Roux. Tab 14 is on the clock.
Pick #4
Yellowknife is the last tab and so they are coming up next. They had a nice S49 and in the S50 draft they sured up their D going and taking one of anything they could get. Another year on and older and not much has changed. They might have had another good year and the O is still stacked and the D is aging still. So, roll the dice and let's see what they come up with...
With the 4th pick Yellowknife takes out of LSU S Roy Rivers. Tab#1 is on the clock.
Pick #5
Arizona is #1 tab and they are still a premier team making the playoffs more than not. They shored up both sides of the ball going LB, RB, S in S50. So how are they looking now as we turn the clock forward. Their defensive backfield still is aging and some of the other skill positions are getting older too. They want to keep themselves relevant and keep the playoff coming. They are set at their QB. RB and LB are still aging and might be target here.
With the 5th pick Arizona takes out of Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México LB Chavo de la Cruz. Tab #11 is on the clock.
Pick #6
The otters come in at the 11th tab and they had many ageing players in regression last year that they started to fill in for the future. Through trades they had an amazing number of picks in S50, with 10 in the first 5 rounds after many trades. Also, this just in the Draft tracker has changed as I type this and they now how Yellowknifes #1 pick in S51 (or I just totally missed it). Either way, I am not redoing that and they have Roy Rivers on their team. At this point they are probably just loaded with young talent everywhere and would just trade this or take the BAP. So, making it easy who is currently the BAP...
With the 6th pick Orange County take from NC State DT Ghost Panda. Tab#7 is on the clock.
Pick #7
Cape Town Crash come in at number 6 on the tabs. They are a relatively young and balanced team on Offense, but regressing on the Defensive side. CB, LB and S. But again another year forward and we have deja vu all over again. They are still an aging defensive unit. And with LB being probably the lynchpin of most schemes.
With the 7th pick the Crash are pleased to select from USC LB Senior Seau. Tab#10 is on the clock.
Pick #8
With tab #10 the Silverback make their entry into this mock draft. Having traded away most of their S50 draft to get the RB they wanted. The NYS have many places they can go. They got their LB with their only pick last year, so...
With the 8th pick New York take from boulder CB Sam Wazinski. tab #3 is on the clock.
Pick #9
So, we are getting into playoff territory here. and tab #3 is Baltimore. Baltimore is a perennial powerhouse, having lost back to back Ultimus games. They had plenty of picks last year so probably filled up on most of their needs. What will they need now? Well probably to have a banner saying Ultimus S50 champions. Let's say they it slipped their minds last year to get this back up for the future and..
With the 9th pick Baltimore take out of n/a QB Cyrus MacDougall. Tab#13 is on the clock.
Pick#10
So, we reach double digit in picks and brings the SaberCats on the clock. Well last year they went RB, CB, LB. Still it leaves them a little light on CB and Safety. But there are no current creates left at those positions. Their TE is also getting up there in years so it has to be..
With the 10th pick San Jose take S to be created later. Tab #5 is on the clock.
Pick #11
Now we get to the conference finals losers and first up is Osaka. Lucky or sadly for them on the Draft Tracker still has them down as Chicago. S50 they get help for the backfields on both sides of the ball with S, CB and RB. So, as the regression turns this is the needs of Osake in S51..They seem in pretty good stead for the most part, but with this position out of contract they go with.
With the 11th pick of the draft Osaka takes out of San Jose State TE Rocket Toss. Tab# 12 is on the clock.
Pick #12
Well for only the second time in this draft, I think without going back, the tab and pick coincide. Which means that Sarasota made the playoffs again and one step further. They were aging last yeat in many places. Last year in the S50 draft they picked up a S, LB, OL and TE. Do they still need players? Of course. What is available that looks like a need? They are very light at the RB position and well really all Offense except QB. MAybe we should reconsider their S50 mocks. But it will have to be something on the offense. And maybe a position near and dear to my heart even it well....
With the 12th pick of the draft Sarasota take from UC, Berkley RB Ignacio de la Serna. Tab# 9 is on the clock.
Pick #13
And it seems that Secondline again made it to the Ultimus, this time finished Second in Line. They have been dominate for a few seasons and unbeleivably they are still pretty stacked at most position. They could probably trade this or it is a BAP at this point which is...
With the 13th pick Nola take from USC LB Abstract Geometry. Ultimus winner tab #6 is on the clock.
Pick #14
OMG everyone was amazed when recent perinial laughing stock Colorado Yeti actually came from nowhere to win the Championship. And in honor of that they finally bow to reality and realize that there are no Yeti in Colorado and rename to the Sasquatch. (I swear this wasn't planned and it was random that they won. Did the other playoff teams come from the right conferences?). But the Yeti are of course very young having been bad for so long, so what do they need. They could have taken anything in S50, and that still applies. They lack one position totally so..
With the last pick of this mock draft the Yeti take from Not Harvard University OL Mike Ross.
And that is it. I wonder if any of these players will still be top of the class when the actual draft roles around next season or if even one team drafts in the same position.
So, @swoosh there is your Way way way too early first look at the S51 ISFL draft.
