Hello NSFL,
As many of us know, @kckolbe appealed his recent punishment for leaking (found HERE). The process for appeals (since this is the first one) is that the appeals committee will confer and offer recommendations to HO on whether the original punishment was justified, should be reduced, or even possibly completely removed. HO then considers the commitee’s recomendation and decides what to do next.
In this case, after considering the points brought forward by the appeals committee, HO has decided to reduce kckolbe’s punishment.
The primary/general reason why is because 1. We consider what kckolbe did as leaking draft information. He knew the results and provided advice, that’s considered a leak and there is precedence to that. HOWEVER 2. This expanded definition of what a “leak” is was not written down in the rulebook, even though precedence is there.
Because of this gray area we are reducing the punishment.
The original punishment was:
- $8,000,000 fine
- Loses out on mock draft tpe for this season (S12 Mock Draft) and next season (S13 Mock Draft)
- Not allowed to be in a draft war room for the remainder of this season (S12 up to the S13 draft) and next season (S13 up to the S14 draft)
The reduced punishment:
- $8,000,000 fine
- Loses our on mock draft tpe for only this season
- Not allowed to be in a draft war room for only the next draft (S13)
We would also like to take this opportunity to set in stone clear expectations and rules regarding non-GM war room participation, which will be added to the rulebook.
The TLDR of the below is that we’re holding non-GM war room members to the same standards as GMs as far as leaking is concerned.
1. All non-GM war room members must be reported to the PPT Head and HO before the draft begins (we do this already more or less)
2. Any war room member providing mock draft advice or hints (in any fashion, to anybody, public or private) as to how the draft unfolded after the relative pick has been made behind the scenes is considered a leak and will be punished accordingly
3. Any war room member posting a mock draft article or similar media piece, of any accuracy, after the 1st round has started behind the scenes will be considered a leak and will be punished accordingly
Thanks,
HO
