So here we are again. Another stepping down post. This time it’s for real for real. You’d think I’d just copy/paste the things I’ve said from the other “stepping down” announcements. However, so much has happened since then that I have to talk about.
First off, to tell you all what you’re here for, I’m stepping down as Co-GM of the San Jose Sabercats effective at the end of the season. Additionally, I’m going to be stepping down from my job as an Updater at the same time. That part was for those of you that just want the announcement.
Now to the meat and potatoes that most probably won’t read. Since joining the league in S14 with that insane class of amazing S15 people, I’ve been hooked. Became a GM of Kansas City immediately and then became the co-GM of San Jose as soon as I could in S17. This league has been a staple in my daily life for almost two years now which is wild to think about. I had never known that something as niche as this existed and here I am writing this long drawn out not even goodbye post. I’m good at rambling though so here goes.
I want to first thank @ckroyal92 for trusting me with the job and being a mentor to me to learn how GMing in a league like this actually works. It’s been a hell of a ride full of ups and downs and holy shit those ups have been great. :derpcatback2back: I’m glad we were able to get at least one GMs of the Year award, that was a really big goal for me alongside winning the Ultimus. I’m so stoked about what we’ve accomplished with the team we’ve built and the awesome locker room culture we’ve created.
Thank you @flyeaglesfly29 for joining this crazy shit with me. Without you being in the league I probably wouldn’t have stayed nearly as long as I have, especially in those early seasons. Shame we haven’t been able to play on the same team or GM together again since KCC.
Thank you to every Sabercat that has been on this team at some point since I became co-GM. Yes, even you. This has been a long and wild 9 seasons and I’ve learned a shit ton from all of you. It may not have been great all the time but it’s been fun nonetheless and I’m proud of the strides we’ve made as a team. You all are awesome and I'm glad I was able to meet all of you.
This was really tough to write even though it’s just about co-GMing a simulation football team. Not even gonna lie to you. I’m not stepping down for bad reasons or some drama that people in this league so desperately crave. I’m stepping down because I feel like it’s time. With a new sim coming up, it seems like a great transition time for someone new to take my spot with both SJS and updating. I know whoever takes over both spots will do amazing work. Also, no I’m not leaving the league. Haha derpcat go meow meow
