It's halfway through the DSFL season, so I think it's about time I do a presser. Ask me about my player Lonnie Jackson, the Luchadores, the league, anything.
How do you like Tijuana?
I absolutely love Tijuana, so glad I landed here. After falling for 7 rounds, you know the team who drafts you actually wants you, and isn’t drafting for the hype. Let me start with the GMs, Tonzy and GuitarMaster (also known as GM). They have built a wonderful team here. You can tell every player wants and is happy to be here, and wants to win. I might be (probably am) biased, but our S27 DSFL draft is easily top 3 in the league. First, we got our QB with the #2 overall pick in Jpach, who is a well known and established member who will be great in his time here. With the #10 pick, we got j00 and his cornerback Juno Hu, who will have a great career in the DSFL and most likely the ISFL. With the 18th and 26th pick we got our safety tandem Amulos (Romulus Roman), and Quail (Lux Opal), who along with Juno will lock down the opponent. With the 42nd pick we gave our new QB and potent running game protection with dude_man (OL Cade Williams). With the 50th pick we picked up someone to lock down the opponents running game and intimidate their QB in FunnyManLuke (DE Gyles Marrett). Last, but not least, we got the coolest guy in the draft and future offensive star with me, RB Lonnie Jackson. Shortly after the draft, we managed to get a gem on waivers in Shiny, DT David Ramczyk. All of these guys are great earners and fun guys to talk to in the locker room. I will be very excited to see where this core takes us. Hopefully to championship #9 and many more.
What has been your favorite thing in the league so far?
The people. I have met some great people in the Tijuana locker room, and beyond talking in other discords. People were the reason I joined my first sim league (the PBE) in the first place, and even more now with the pandemic and barely seeing anyone. Sim leagues have been an escape and a way to meet and talk to new people when I can't in the real world. The main thing I'm looking for in an ISFL team is an active locker room with cool people.
What do you expect come ISFL draft time?
Not a lot, honestly. My earning at the start of the season was pretty spotty, and will most likely turn off a few teams. There are 4 RBs ahead of me in earning, and by quite a bit. I'm not expecting to go high. But if that means I go to a team who truly wants me there, and has what I want in a team. I don't mind going in a late round.
Any Rivals in the league so far?
If your GM has a twin who also happens to be GM of a DSFL team, like Tonzy does with his twin SouthPaw GMing the Portland Pythons, there's going to be a rivalry. It's even more of a rivalry when the twin's team is currently the DSFL North division leader. We're all hoping we can get to the Ultimini and beat the Pythons. We also have a rivalry in division with the Dallas Birddogs, as we are the two current playoff teams and have to beat the other to make it to the Ultimini.
A shirtless, masked man butts in from the side of the small mass of reporters. He raises a candy apple towards your face, "Can you tell us about Juno Hu and why he is the best teammate ever?"
Hu?
What do you think of the Tijuana women?
While I (Exilate) haven't had experience with this topic, Lonnie won't shut up about it. He's always talking about the women he sees on the street or at games. I hope they don't become too much of a distraction and mess up his game.
Thoughts on your personal season so far? Anything you hope to accomplish before the season ends?
While my performance in sim isn't mindblowing, I'm not upset about it. This season I'm stuck behind two capped running backs. Right now I'm focusing on earning as well as I can, and I'm a little upset about the TPE I've missed, but overall proud of what I've done. My goal is to not miss any more TPE for the rest of the season and put myself in a position to succeed in and out of the sim next season when I have a better chance.
How do you like it here compared to PBE?
I was a little intimidated at first but I think I've settled in nicely. While it sucks the league doesn't pay as much for twitter and there isn't a JPT to pair with twitter to pay for training every week, the predictions are a nice alternative for more TPE. Once I get a job and get more comfortable with writing media I will be in a great place. This league has a lot of great people like the PBE, and while the sim isn't great, it's hard to be on OOTP's level. I plan on sticking around for a long time.
Favorite type of Mexican food?
I absolutely love burritos. They're the best way of getting a lot of ingredients in one place and keeping them there. Any time I go somewhere with Mexican food I try their burritos.

You guys have already met Dallas twice this season. Would you say that Dallas won those two games, or that you lost them? Would you say that about your other 2 losses as well?
We definitely lost the second game. Throwing an interception at the opposing 39 in overtime and letting them march down the field is not how you win games. I think the first game is a tossup. Dallas is a great football team with a good defense and offense, and a 24-17 loss is just tough. Definitely a game that could have gone either way.
You have a great defense, with 2 CBs leading the league in INTs. You have a lot of offense, but you're only averaging 17 points a game. Is the problem your lackluster defense, or is it the problems you're having offensively, lackluster offense?
I know people like to cry sim, but I honestly think it's the kinks of the new sim. We haven't had good luck with the running game, which is a problem considering our offense is built around running, with 3 great running backs and a scrambling QB. I have faith the sim team will get the sim to a good state and Tijuana will be firing on all cylinders.
Do you think that the color of footballs being brown is racist? Do you think they should be a different color, perhaps, white?
I can't believe the football would do that smh. Unbelievable. #FootballIsOverParty
What's your pre-game routine? Does it work? (Followup if yes): But is it really working if you've lost 4 games?
Lonnie's pre-game routine is waking up, jogging to a burrito place (and checking out girls along the way), getting a burrito, jogging back to the team facility to pack up, and going to the game. It doesn't seem to be working, he might have to find a new one soon.
The cameras caught you drinking some Gatorade near the end of the 3rd quarter. Were you just thirsty, or was this you fueling yourself up for the 4th quarter?
I was feeling tired after the 3rd quarter, but after drinking a Gatorade® Fruit Punch, I was ready to take the field and make an impact in the 4th quarter. Quench your thirst with Gatorade®
Who is your second favorite rookie teammate? (obviously Cade Williams being first)
All of them.
Who is your favorite member of the Carolina Kraken and why is it Gino Lombardo?
Who else would it be? Gino is doing everything on the ice. Landing thunderous hits. Blocking every shot, who needs teeth. Gooning it up and cracking skulls.
