Arizona Outlaws fans are in for another disappointing season of watching one of the ISFL's best rosters consistently suffer from inconsistency. Featuring the league's best past pass defense, second best defense by yards, and third best defense by points, the Outlaws have shown that their dominant talent on defense, especially in the secondary, can still get the job done. However, with the 3rd worst totals in the league in passing yards and overall offensive yards, the Outlaws have been far from looking like a high level contender. While sporting a quality win over the defending champions and gathering some momentum with a thrashing of the bottom tier Otters, this Arizona has also suffered a thrashing by the Copperheads and an absolute lampooning by the New Orleans Second Line. Though the fans of this Arizona Outlaws team may have hoped for a bounce back season after such disappointment last season, it's looking like a long path of mediocrity for this teams future.
After week 1, we have not gotten off to the start we were hoping. Me and Minnesota, got crushed in week 1 vs Portland. I have no doubt in my mind that this team is capable of winning out the rest of the year. I believe that we will get better as the year goes on but seeing as we have multiple positions filled with only rookies, its gonna take some time. Painted and Ice are coming up with some great strats for the next couple weeks, and I have full faith in them. I played great in my first game, with 7 receptions, 70 yards, on 16 targets. We were outplayed and the score showed it. You never want to get beat by more than 14 points especially on the season opener. But that was our learning curve, and we set it very low. This is just the beginning, and we will be back for week 2.
San Jose has had a pretty good start for a team that went 6-10 last season. We are currently 2-2 with the 4th most points scored in the league, our offense is popping off! We would be 3-1 coming off of a victory over the regular season conference champs Austin Copperheads if it weren't for some unlucky sim shit where we spiked it on 3rd down and then went for it on 4th when a field goal would've won the game. Sim gonna sim, either way we are optimistic about the season and seem to be closer to the end of the rebuild than the beginning.
In terms of Deshawn Penne, I have 69 (nice) receiving yards on the year and 7 pancakes. Pretty low stats but being an immediate call up after being drafted I don't expect to have very good stats for a couple of years. As long as I beat Lenard Graf then I'm happy!
The Minnesota Grey Ducks are only 1 game into the DSFL season so far, but that one game was a pretty big loss to the Portland Pythons. Admittedly Portland does appear to be the slightly better team on paper, but the margin of victory was still rather surprising. It's also a bit concerning. Portland is slightly better than Minnesota on paper, but neither team appears to be near the top of the DSFL in terms of talent. If the Grey Ducks suffer a loss like that to the hands of a team that's likely to be middling at best, I'm a little afraid of what one of the powerhouses like Norfolk or Tijuana will do to us. Hopefully we can regroup and rebound as the season goes on.
Daron Arnold's week 1 performance was equally disappointing. Arnold was 4th on his own team in terms of defensive production, a lackluster result from what should be the star LB of Minnesota. He will continue to grow, though, so he should take his rightful place as the centerpiece of the Grey Ducks' defense soon enough.
Honolulu is back baby! Coming of one of the biggest Cinderella stories the ISFL has every seen and clutching their first ever title, the Hahalua have started season 32 off with a bang. Hon was able to get a handful of key offseason free agents that help solidify some of their weaknesses. Hon has been off to a hot start by going 3-0 to start the season and dropping a close one to Arizona to cap off the first quarter of the season. At this rate the Hahalua will end up with a 12-4 record and would likely hold that top spot going into the playoffs. Hopefully the hot start can keep them rolling thru a tough week. With matchups vs the butchers, sabercats, and Secondline, we hope to have this be a big statement week and be standing at 6-1 almost halfway through the season. It's likely we will hit some bumps in the road but another playoff push is near in this teams future.
