There is a lot to talk about regarding games three and four of the DSFL season for the Kansas City Coyotes. Featuring a blowout against the Portland Pythons and an upset win against the Minnesota Grey Ducks, I cannot wait for this so let's just get into this:
Victory vs the Portland Pythons 37-14:
In our first home game of the season, things started extremely hot as Trevor led a really fast touchdown to Hands Solo drive to get the first touchdown of his career. The next five scores would be done by the Yotes, including a short rushing touchdown by Zane Cold and a 14 yard touchdown run by Ram 1500. Bonne McCoy would finally score for the first touchdown by the Pythons with a 33 yard pass. Then Hands Solo would catch a long 68 yard touchdown from Teevor to help ice the game. Other then a 70 yard passing touchdown from McCoy, the game was basically over by that point. Trevor preformed extremely well, completing 14/24 passing for 250 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Both Zane Cold and Ram 1500 had great games, with Zane notably having 142 yards rushing and both of then having a touchdown. The Yotes had two 100+ yard receivers, with Alex Armstrong having 108 yards and Hands Solo having 125 and two touchdowns. The defense preformed extremely well despite no one having over 6 tackles. I think the offense made the defenses job extremely easy, but they made some key plays including a fumble recovery that set Kansas City up for a score. Kansas City notably had a lot of fumbles that set up the offense well. it was a great day in Kansas City as afterwards the Yotes prepared to head to Minnesota for a game that is expected to be tough.
Victory vs the Minnesota Grey Ducks 20-13:
The first drive of the game could not have gone any better for the Yotes, as it ended with a Virginia Emmett two yard touchdown pass from Trevor. Minnesota would respond with a Kawai Bartok 37 yard touchdown and a field goal. The Yotes then would get a Ram 1500 touchdown pass to make it 14-10. The Grey Ducks would kick a field goal before the half ended to make it 14-13 at halftime. The next two scores were field goals for the Yotes as both trams struggled to get really going on offense. Minnesota even missed a key field goal in the 2nd.
During the Yotes last drive, the Ducks would just barely stop them on 3rd down but would get flagged for unnecessary roughness to give the Yotes a new set of downs. The Yotes would capitalize by taking a lot of time off the clock and kicking a field goal to go up 20-13. They would stop the Ducks from scoring before time ran out to complete the upset. Trevor preformed great with 18/37 passing for 233 yards and 2 touchdowns. Zane Cold only got 93 yards rushing as the name of the game was defense. Matthew Ashley had 11 tackles and Speedy McNeedy had 2 tackles for loss.
Brady Trady and Greg Strongjaw both had sacks as the defense managed to hold the Ducks down. It doesn't help that the Minnesota Quarterback only had 7/21 passing for them. Overall a huge upset for the Yotes and brings us tons of momentum heading into a home game against Norfolk.
To quote the GM:
"Lorenzen top 3 in passing and #2 in passer rating
Zane Cold #3 in rush yards
Strongjaw leads the league in sacks
Bom Trady #2 in forced fumbles"
I know that things can change rather quickly, but I an happy with how we have started. FEAR THE HOWL!
Thank you for reading and I hope to see you all on the field!
