The City
Montréal has a history with professional football dating all the way back to 1946. The city has supported the Alouettes of the CFL for almost 80 years, watching the team win seven championships. However, the team's most recent championships have all been away games, so the city is starving for some Championship Football action.
Montréal is certainly large enough to validate hosting the Ultimus, having a greater metro population of just under 4.3 million people. It's high time that eastern Canada hosts an ISFL game, and there certainly isn't a better way to break the ice than the Ultimus.
Fun Fact: Montréal has been called Sin City since American Prohibition! Why not bring the Ultimus from one Sin City to another?
The Stadium
Montréal's Olympic Stadium is a true marvel. Despite being built for the 1976 Olympics, the stadium has been kept in tip-top shape. The stadium regularly hosts Montréal's MLS team, so its more than up to the task. The stands can fit over 70,000 roaring fans and the field was fitted with FIFA Quality Pro Grass this year! Fun Fact: This stadium has been home to nine of the ten most attended games in CFL History!
The Logo
The logo incorporates both the iconic Olympic Stadium as well as the city's logo behind it. The red, white, and blue color scheme has long been associated with Montréal. I felt that an older looking design was appropriate for one of North America's oldest cities, one with loads of sports history at that.
Below are four versions of the logo encompassing versions with text and without text, as well as those same logos without a background. The font used is CMU Typewriter in italics.
