The first season ended in spectacular fashion for Marshalls Cornerback winning multitudes of awards and his ultimate goal as Development Simulation Football League Player - the mighty Trophy of Ultimini.
Playoffs were the real rollercoaster. First game against division rivals Tijuana Luchadores was not a cakewalk like many predicted, but hard fought battle between two proud teams.
The final game was even better, full of turning points and legendary rush by Nyquist.
Being named co-Defensive Player of the Year with Ryan Lefevre and defensive back is a huge honour. It wasn't smooth sailing all year, with some disappointing numbers, but there were some bright moments like 44 yards defensive Touchdown in regular season game against Kansas City Coyotes.
I am really grateful to all the teammates and especially GMs that created a great atmosphere and led us to the successful postseason run. run_CMC has a great successor in Ramero who is already making a huge impact with his effort on newest Marshals. Although I wasn't sure about this at draft night all signs suggest I will not be returning to this amazing comradeship for another stint. I probably will be one of the few players who joined late to the league while never being drafted by DSFL team. Still, I'm very glad the odds of waiver priority aligned this way so I can forever claim to be alumni of San Antonio giant.
Another great story is whole drafting process, and rumours that circulated around the league. I believe I'm one of many that got caught off guard about many of the trades that happened in the before the S7 Draft.
Even though I had huge hopes of going to one of the underdog teams - Colorado Yetis and New Orleans Second Line because I knew their GMs as solid and worth playing for, for the first time in my career in sim league I ended up on undisputed contender - Orange County Otters. Now I have to recalibrate all of my underdog mentality.
When I heard the news I was ready to go back to Development Simulation Football League, but I was really pumped up when there was a place for me in the squad, even though I had low TPE. I know I'm repetitive, but it really sucks that new players joining just before the draft are in losing position to veterans, that could get ~80 regression free TPE due to task and equipment availability for players created after the trade deadline. Don't get me wrong Howard Miller was undisputed number 1 draft pick this year - not only due to enormous TPE lead, his articles and activity were top notch - but without this loophole, I am sure as hell I would give a better fight with increased effort.
Instead I slipped to the third spot, because Hawks drafted another amazing prospect, partly because of the night at Tight End position and somewhat due to my reluctant answers about my future at Baltimore - I didn't want to go to DSFL for a long time, and with their defensive depth one season probably wouldn't be nearly enough.
Preseason results:
Playing as False Safety is not a new experience for Siberian Swatter, in fact, I played in that position in my first game ever as Marshall. Results seem to be adequate to Otter's position and put them yet again as frontrunners to grab yet another Ultimus Trophy. That would be an unparalleled achievement all around sim league - more than a simple dynasty. Although it is kind of sad and boring that only two teams so far were able to achieve that.
So far surprisingly Otters lost first game of the season but we bounced back quickly against Arizona Outlaws. Siberian Swatter had two quiet games with just 10 tackles and 1 deflected pass, but I assure this is not the last thing you will hear about tim.
