Published Sat June 10th - 8:20 PM
The NSFL's official preseason was completed this last week while coaches and players continued to prepare for the Inagural Season. One player who had a strong showing, was 5th round selection Vick Bowers Jr. had a strong showing in the San Jose Sabercats opening 4 exhibition games. Bowers Jr. was the 3rd running back off the board in the NSFL opening draft but has outplayed the other backs in the league that were selected before him in the preseason. Part of this can be allocated to Bowers strong earning potential in Training Camp Events and Practice leading up to the season, but the other part is all based on the Sabercats strong offensive line. The Sabercats captain Ben Longshaw plays on the line, and he helps lead the charge for Bowers Jr on the front line. The Sabercats are looking to get off on the right foot in the NSFL, and at 2-2 for the preseason, the Cats have a strong outlook heading into the regular season considering that they finished the preseason on a two game winning streak. Bowers Jr. and the Sabercats open the season on Monday, and Bowers Jr. will look to start opening up the holes with the help of his offensive line and take some of the pressure off of Jameis Christ and the passing game for the Sabercats.
