I'm going to opt for a less obvious choice (and non-selfish choice) here and talk about some of the lesser known people on defense. Defense is always a really tough thing to gauge because of how players don't play an equal number of snaps, and have so many different stats it can be difficult to weight them all. Finally you have to consider how each position comes with a different type of production, a middle linebacker in a low blitz nickel gets way different stats than a 3-4 LOLB in a high blitz scheme. Then you have to consider single-season bias, if one linebacker is great for 2 seasons and mediocre for 5 they are still likely to stick in your mind more than the linebacker who is very good for 7 seasons but never the best. And let's not even get started on how position changes complicate things.
So with that I would like to bring you the story of Marc Spector. Marc Spector has been starting at cornerback for several seasons now with the Otters. Here's a fun fact: He has the highest career rate of passes defensed per defensive snap of all defenders in the league with over 3000 snaps (3000 snaps is about 3 seasons of play). On average he defensed a pass 1.46% of the plays he was involved in, the next closest at 1.40% was Phillipe Carter. Perennial stud Delacour was down at #5 with 1.31%. Marc Spector may not have gotten a ton of interceptions during his career, but he was a monster in sticky coverage and was excellent at getting his hand in there to break up the pass.
So my vote for hall of fame will definitely go to @RedCydranth when his name eventually hits the ballot for being an outstanding corner that does not get the credit he deserves for his efficiency on defense.
