Probably one of the most memorable moments in the storied life on Angus Winchester is the time he completed his lifelong goal of beating the 4lb hamburger challenge at his favorite local burger place. The challenge is simple, finish the burger and fries in under and hour and get your name on the wall and a t-shirt. But there was one problem, nobody had ever managed to complete the challenge before. The burger is as follows: One four-pound (when uncooked) burger patty, 4 slices of cheese, 6 strips of bacon, mayo, pickles, grilled onions, on a challah bun. With one pound of fries on the side. All said this burger and fries combo comes to a whopping 12,000 calories.
Winchester had been eyeing this challenge for years, but knew he was not prepared. So one offseason he did what he does best, he trained to win. For three weeks Angus practiced eating large burgers in one sitting, trying to figure out the right way to accomplish it. Then for three days he ate nothing but raw vegetables to get his body ready for the feast. Finally, he sat down to show the burger who was boss. After only 45 minutes Winchester finished off the last of the fries, and the rest is history. He won a t-shirt, but they didn't have any XXXL sizes so he got one for his son.
