"It's frustrating, it's frustrating." Zach Skinner grumbled, still in his morning attire, as he reached for a cup of coffee that his now-wife had made for him, "I'm in the best shape of my life, stronger than I've ever been," he took a sip. The caffeine's effect might not have been instant, but the heat was, shocking the nerves on his lips to life, "And we're one and seven. Not just that, but I still haven't been able to play at the level I've always wanted too," he glanced down at his massive hands, flexing them for a moment, "And honestly, I think my body's starting to feel the effects of this game."
It was true. There had always been aches and pains that came with the sport, sprained wrists that were so bad by the end of the season that he'd use half a roll of tape to support them, perpetual pain in at least one knee, soreness, bruises, but it was different now. He had suffered back pain before, but never to the extent that he had after last season, and it was only getting worse, to the point that he'd stopped squatting and dead lifting entirely.
"Well," his spouse muttered, looking across the counter at him, "There's only so much one man can do, and you're doing everything your body is capable of doing." She tossed him the keys to the car, "Now hurry up and get dressed. We can't have you being late."
