While I love playing wide receiver, it's natural to think about playing other positions on the football field. As a wide receiver, you go up against cornerbacks every play. Their job is tough because they have to shadow this receiver who knows what route he's running. Wide receivers are at a big advantage because of that, but that's why being a top cornerback is so valuable. That's the position that I'd like to try out.
I think there's something special about playing a position where the coach trusts you shut down another player straight up. You're lining up against the team's best wide receiver and expected to shut him down. You don't know where he's going to run, when he's going to cut, but if your instincts are on point, you can shadow him and render him obsolete. Also, there's gotta be a thrill to catch the quarterback's pass when it's his job to avoid you. You jumped the route and burned the quarterback for a big turnover. There may not be as much glory in the position, but man can you turn the game around. Being a wide receiver, you really appreciate the job cornerbacks have to do. In a different life, maybe I'd be the guy on the other end of the football.
