The Sabercats seem to be in full rebuild mode. After a very slow start to the NSFL’s inaugural season it looks like the leadership in San Jose has decided to call the season a bust and move on to next year. In a pair of stunning moves they traded away their two best offensive linemen.
Ben Longshaw, an early season favorite for best offensive lineman in the league is being shipped off to the Yellowknife Wraiths for two first round picks and this year’s second rounder. The Wraiths appear to be going for a win-now deal that will get them the first crack at a championship but hinder them in picking up future players.
Center Tim Tebow has been traded to the Orange County Otters for DT Romeo Devitt and this year’s first rounder. It looks like the Otters are going to make the final push to win their conference and get a shot at this year’s championship after a strong string of games by their defense and power run game. A dedicated center could prove to be the final piece to the puzzle.
The SaberCats will hope to use their draft capital to rebuild the offensive line they dismantled, with a promising draft of offensive line prospects ahead. They’re on their way to securing Gregor Clegane as their #1 pick in the draft and should have their choice of a few other players along the line, while also gaining capital for future seasons and a solid player on the defense.
