I will write about a couple here and a couple that I am involved in or was involved in at least and am no longer involved in which is sad in some ways. The first was the matchup between the Otters and the Sabercats which unfortunately did not go in San Jose's favor in what would be the last game for Sabercats' quarterback, Joliet Christ. It was a hell of a career for one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks the NSFL has ever seen and unfortunately it ended to one of his biggest rivals. There were no regrets for Christ as his career was mainly filled with ups and no downs. He would go on to mentor a new rising QB in Deondre Thomas-Fox of the Portland Pythons. Unfortunately, for DTF, he got no game action in Portland's loss and he was unhappy to say the least. "Yo, this Cue guy was a complete bum and I could've helped this team win an Ultimini, not my fault the coaches and GM's put faith in the wrong guy. Oh well, I hope some competent leadership takes a shot on me in the DSFL draft coming up. I am the ultimate dual-threat like my boy J Christ. Let's get it."
3. Draft Focus
Written: What areas of your team has the biggest holes that you are hoping get filled in the upcoming gigantic S18 draft? What round are you hoping it’s filled?
So this one is kind of hard with the fact that I am not actually on a team anymore but I will still talk about the one team that I have been a part of my whole NSFL career and recently retired from and that is the San Jose Sabercats. The team has been competitive for the meat of Christ's career but unfortunately that might be taking a turn for the worse as the whole team is retiring or regressing quite a bit and needs to kind of rebuild on the fly while they work in new quarterback, Dan Wright, previously a tight end for the team. Defense wins championships though and while losing Christ and having a regressing Xavier Flash and no other solid wide receiver next to him, as well as a new QB and less than star caliber running backs, the team needs to rebuild it's defense. The team won an Ultimus with defense and timely offense and with no good corners, a defensive line that has one or two active players and a team full of regressing linebackers or retiring Chad Pennington, the team needs to lean off their safeties in Staley and Brackenridge to get it going. The team will need everything besides safeties and rebuild their linebacking core and their corner situation to get back. I believe in the management, but it will be a long road. I would consider trading some pieces to reload as soon as possible.
4. All about the QBs
Written: Write 200 words on one of the QB matchups in this year's playoffs. What are you most excited to see (Or excited to have seen), who will play better (Or who played better), etc.
Graphic: Create a graphic on a QB matchup, (Pictures with side-by-side statistics).
Let's talk about the matchup that was Joliet Christ and Franklin Armstrong for a second in the matchup between the San Jose Sabercats and the Orange County Otters. Now, Armstrong would go on to win this game and eventually take home an Ultimus title and MVP but this was really a matchup between the old guard and the new. Gone are the days of Christ vs. Showbiz in what were some great Orange County vs. San Jose games and this would be the final time we ever see Joliet L. Christ on a football field. Armstrong, the new potentially premier QB in the league sent Christ out and left only Falconi as the oldest veteran quarterback in the game in what should be the twilight of her career. It will now be Armstrong vs. Wright in the OCO and SJS matchup which is kind of weird to think about considering it had been Christ and Showbiz for the longest time. Armstrong is the guy nowadays and looks to be a premier QB for the foreseeable future which is a scary thought. Christ had a tremendous career and should be an eventual hall of famer at the QB position and Armstrong could get there too. I have a tremendous amount of respect for @moonlight and wish him good luck in his career in the NSFL and congratulations on the championship. I hope Thomas-Fox will find a place and can have a similar scenario taking down Armstrong during his final days. Gotta get that payback!
