3) All about the QBs
The quarterback that stood out in the playoffs was the rookie Armstrong. Especially his performance in the finals against the Baltimore Hawks. His stat line was:
Armstrong ®, F. 17/27 287 yds 16.9 per completion 3 TD’s 135.9 with 48 yards rushing!
He had a 78 QB rating during season with 12.1 yards per completion while having 16.8 in this game.
For being a young player joining the league in season 15 – this is a strong showing for a game manager QB that spent two years in the DSFL. With the Otters having the second leading rusher in Apollo you would think the gameplan would be to run the rock to minimize the jitters of a first time QB in the finals let alone the NSFL playoffs. His combination of accuracy and tempo kept the Hawks off balance all game while they dared him to throw by stacking the box against Apollo and the TD machine Corey Trevor. It was amazing to see Armstrong grow so fast in his inaugural season and I am looking forward to what he is going to bring to the league. He didn’t need the all star receiver Sunnycursed in this game as he leaned on blaze and mongo for the chunk of the passing attack.

4) Head to Head Matchups
In the Ultimus finals ex QB Showbiz competed against his well known friend sunnycursed and all-pro wide receiver Maddox and stood his ground. His seven tackles where about five of them came from run support or gang tackling another WR showed his willingness to get physical. By only allowing a few passes and getting one pass deflection this brings out how much work he has put in throughout the season to become competent in his craft. With only having one year of practice and being able to stay step for step with the receivers is an incredible feat. Espeeyeeseetee may have gotten the best of Showbiz on his touchdown catch but has several journeyman tricks up his sleeve. The most impressive part about showbiz’s performance is that he was such a student of the game while he was playing quarterback that he was able to transfer that knowledge to the cornerback position. Teammates are often heard him shouting up what play is coming in a Tony Romo esq way when he became a commentator. Showbiz has a year maybe two left to continue his battle at corner and I am looking forward to the savy techniques he brings to the table next year.

11) Trades
Trade:
Baltimore receives:
Sunnycursed
S18 3 rd Round pick
Otters receive: Yulic Nagasawa Wide Receiver – Season 11 – 500 TPE
Corey Trevor 190 TPE – Season 13 –
S18 1st round pick (3rd overall)
If trevor is on the otter’s roster after S18, Hawks receive 2M in S18 Cap space.
Baltimore tried to beef up their chances of a trip to the Ultimus and they succeeded. Unfortunately, even with this all-star receiver they couldn’t quite break the Otters defense to bring it all home. Sunny and Maddox lead the attack with over a hundred yard each and sunny had a TD so the trade was not for none. However, with poor field position and timely missed 3rd down conversions the hawks drive stalled. Hugh Mongo stepped up “Hugh” in Sunny’s absents and looks to be running with the wide receiver two roll. Next year Sunny is a FA and who knows if he stays or goes back to his long time home in Orange County. This leaves the hawks kind of holding the bag with only a 3rd round pick in this years draft. While that should net them a pretty good player in this deep class; they are missing out on a top three selection which is a guaranteed stud of a player that will be active in the locker room, high TPE ceiling and active in the forum.

19) Kickers are people too!
Kicky Bobby had a average to to successful playoff run up into the NSFC championship game. One play affected the outcome of the NSFC Championship game by missing a twenty two yard field goal that could have tied the game in the fourth quarter. The score was 27 Baltimore to 24 Orange County. This could have changed history and prevented the Otters from upsetting the Hawks and prevented Armstrong from becoming the Playoffs MVP. Bobby was five for five in the range of twenty to twenty nine yards throughout the season. However, his extra point completion rate was one of the lowest in the league. This unreliability reared its head in the fourth quarter of the crucial game. Was it nerves or was it Bobby to nonchalant as he had no problem from this range all season? Only Kicky knows and we will see what he works on this offseason – accuracy or intelligence to help diminish the nightmares that are fresh in his mind. Bobby has 2 years left on his contract for cheap so we will see if the Wraiths still believe in him or go another way in the draft as there are a couple active options available. You never know. Kicky might want out but we won’t know what goes on behind the scenes.
