The Yellowknife Wraiths have sent DT Trent Bender and a second round pick to Colorado in return for a package of players, in an attempt to shore up offensive weaknesses that have been holding the team back.
In return for the NSFL's joint sack leader, the Wraiths will recieve RB Luke Tiernan, who will slot in as Yellowknife's #2 running back and DJ Law, who will primarily play in the slot.
The Wraiths offense has been potent, but runs through 4 players - the Yellowknife coaching staff and QB Chris Orosz has been reluctant to hand the ball off to anyone but Bubba Nuck despite having 3 RBs on the roster, and wideouts not named Garden or LeClaire have 6 receptions between 3 players. Tiernan has rushed for 298 yards, 12th among tailbacks, but holds joint 5th place for rushing TDs, proving that he has been trusted in clutch situations for Colorado.
Bender currently jointly holds the lead for sacks in the NSFL's inaugural season with 11, but has rarely been seen in the Yellowknife Wraiths gym. In dealing him away Yellowknife is clearly indicating their belief that another of the team's 4 Defensive Tackles can step into the interior line with a similar effectiveness, while hopefully giving him a new start in the temperate lands of Colorado.
