1) Playoff Predictions, Reviews:
The Minnesota Grey Ducks barely edged out the Portland Pythons to advance to the Ultimini game. The Grey Ducks jumped out to an early lead as this team looked like too much for Portland to handle. By halftime the lead was already 24-10. Portland didn’t give up and score quickly to begin the 3rd quarter making it a one score game. Minnesota responded back on their next drive which resulted in a field goal. On the Pythons next possession they were stopped around mid field but their punter, Diego Espinosa, pinned the Grey Ducks inside their own 5 yard line. On the following play, LB Willie Hardagain sacked QB Zack Vega in the end zone for a safety. Had the Pythons won the game, this could have easily been the play of the game. The Pythons got the ball back and scored again and with the successful 2 point conversion, tied it up with a little over 9 minutes remaining. Each team followed up with an unsuccessful possession before Minnesota went on a 5 minute, 71 yard drive that ended with a game winning field goal as time expired. The Grey ducks now head south of the border where they will face the Luchadores for the Ultimini. Final score 31-27 Grey Ducks. (212)
4) Resim!:
If I could choose 1 game to resim this season if would have to be the Chicago Butchers week 4 loss to the orange county otters. This game was never close as the scoreboard quickly shows the Butchers failing to score. With the successful resimming of this game, first the Chicago Butchers would have an impressive road win in Orange County. In my ideal resim, I would have it be a low scoring game since I am a fan of defense. I want to see near perfect performances on the offensive side to score. In addition to Chicago getting a dominating road win, this loss by Orange County would change their record and ultimately alter the entire playoff picture. With the sims love for the home team, this small victory in week 4 could grant New Orleans Second Line the opportunity to represent the ASFC in the Ultimus game. Once in the championship game, they undoubtedly win easily over the Yellowknife Wraiths to bring the title back to the bayou. While this resim wouldn’t change the overall outcome of the Chicago Butchers, the butterfly effect type potential outcome on the rest of the league would definitely make for a spicy story line. (202)
5) Offseason Needs:
The Chicago Butchers are in need of some off-season help. After hiring new people to the front office, the next step is to bring in top talent to get this team back on track. On the offensive side they are positioned well for the future. They have their future QB and RB playing in the DSFL. They also have their young talented wide receivers Sean O’Leary and Sweet James Jones beginning their NSFL careers. The glaring weakness of Chicago appears to be their defense. While they have some talented players, teams are scoring easily on them as they gave up 392 points in S19 which is 2nd worst in the league. First, acquiring another defensive lineman that could add pressure to the opposing QB would be great. Follow that up with some additional help at line backer to help cover the middle of the field and take away some of the short pass options. Adding a lock down corner to slow down the deep passing game would be the final piece. In S19 Chicago went 1-1 in games decided by one score. As most of their games were decided by over 19 points, slowing down the opposing teams with an upgraded defense will certainly help Chicago moving forward. (208)
