1) Playoff Review
The game I will be reviewing is the one and only Ultimus. In this matchup we saw the Orange County Otters facing the Yellowknife Wraiths. Seems familiar doesn’t it. Anyways, let’s check out how they even got to this spot in the first place. Let’s begin with the Wraiths. After a disappointing loss at home to OCO last season they were looking to bounce back and win it all this season. They began the season with a tough loss to the Liberty but they were able to bounce back and win their next 4 games until again they lost to the Liberty. They continued playing at their best and finished the season at a record of 9-4. Moving on to the Otters, they had a very similar season. They started the season very hot winning 7 straight games until they gave up their first loss to the Second Line. Things kind of went downhill as they only won 2 of their last 5 games. Both teams swept their conference playoffs games to make it to this point, the Ultimus. The first quarter was a quiet quarter for both teams with the only points being scored was a field goal by the Wraiths. The second quarter was where the game started to heat up. The Wraiths again scored however this time it was a touchdown. The Otters responded by putting up their first points of the game which was a field goal. Going into halftime the Otters knew something had to change if they wanted to win. Something must have changed because they came out of halftime swinging. In the 3rd quarter alone they scored 17 points while giving up 0 and just like that OCO had the lead. However, the Wraiths would not give up. Early into the 4th quarter the Wraiths were able to score another touchdown off a run by Hanyadi. Although the Otters were able to respond, it was only with a field goal. This gave all Wraith fans hope that they could come back. The Wraiths were able to march down the field and scored twice in succession, once for a field goal and once for a touchdown giving the Wraiths the lead 27-23. This was it, what the game came down to. One last chance for the Otters to take the lead and win it all. Reed is able to run for a nice gain to put it all on Franklin Armstrong. He hits Blaze for a 24 yard gain. He tries to hit Banks only for it to be knocked out of his hands by Leonard. On the next play Armstrong sees Mongo burning. He heaves it downfield and it….. CONNECTS FOR A TOUCHDOWN. The Otters take the lead 30-27. The Wraiths with barely any time left try to get downfield to score but the Otter defense doesn’t let up. The Otters have won the Ultimus.
9) Brotherly Love
You want to know who I have a soft spot for? It's fairly simple really, all of S17. Let’s begin with…. Bubba Thumper! Although he didn’t rack up the most stats in the DSFL, he still had an incredible presence off the field. Not to mention that he is THE man to go to if you are looking for good barbeque. Trust me, he's the best. Now we are moving onto Mervin Leonard. My man Mervin and I have been buds since day 1. Everyday at practice(while we were on Pythons) we would line up against each other. It was so intense that we had a TV crew come over and record us for a mini series that started called “Brothers From Another Mother: Football Edition”. Now I can’t start talking about S17 without mentioning Mr. Tamper himself. Although he's been on quite a couple teams over his career doesn’t mean he's not a good person. If you ignore the tampering he's actually really nice. Next on the list we have my partner is crime while we were on Portland, Action Jackson! Although he barely got any touches in the DSFL, he is well on his way to becoming a top wr in San Jose. Everyone in S17 has a special spot in my heart and I cherish my time with them dearly.

What’s the feeling after losing to the Grey Ducks in the NFC Championship?
Obviously every loss sucks. It definitely does sting a bit more since it was a loss that booted us from the playoffs. Having to watch the Ultimini from home was definitely motivation to make sure it doesn’t happen again. I think next time Portland plays Minnesota that the Pythons are going to have a bit of a chip on their shoulder. It should be an interesting matchup, whether I’m on the roster or not. I’ll definitely be watching, wherever I’m at.
Were you surprised that the Wraiths beat the Otters in the Ultimus?
Am I on Jimmy Kimmel? I thought the Otters beat the Wraiths in the Ultimus. But either way, I didn’t really have much time to follow the NSFL. When I wasn’t on the field with my fellow Pythons I was usually watching game film to prepare for our next game, in the weight room, or hitting up some of my favorite restaurants. But on paper, that was really anyone’s game going into it so I wouldn’t have been surprised one way or the other. All the congratulations to the Otters though, for sure.
Where do you see yourself getting drafted due to the playoff outcome?
I’ve only really heard from a few teams and it seems like all of them would have me playing in the NSFL my first year. So while I may not be 100% sure what team I’ll be playing for, I know I’ll be called up. But as for where I think I’ll get drafted, I figure later in the first round so somewhere around New Orleans, Orange County, or Yellowknife. I will say that only two of those teams reached out to me, though, so we’ll see how it plays out. It’s coming up here quick. I still need to get my suit and make sure it all still fits properly.
Any early Ultimus predictions?
I will say New Orleans over Baltimore for the Ultimus next season. Toriki is going to lead the Secondline to an Ultimus in his second year in the league, much to the chagrin of Corvo Havran and company. My darkhorse pick for the Ultimus next year is Arizona. I think they tighten up that defense a little bit and they can really make a run at it.
16) Dynasty
You want to know why the Outlaws will be the next dynasty? I’ll break the offense down for you piece by piece. First off, we have the leader of the team Jay Cue. I promise you that Cue will win at least 2 MVPs due to his ability to scramble and throw. In ~3 Seasons he will be above 1k TPE which is when you will really see him shine. Next up, we have Ruff Ruff. Due to both Ruff and Cue being from S18 their primes align so we will see them both at +1k TPE at the same time which will make our ground game the best in the league. Now we need to talk about the other skill positions on offense, the wide receivers. For our wide receiver 1 we have yours truly. Most people know that I am a max earner and that I will be one of the best wide receivers in the league some day. Not to mention that due to me being from s17 my prime will line up with both Cue and Ruff to create a 3 headed monster. Now for our other Wr’s we have Hardigain and Bur’Berry who will both be near our offenses prime so we will have the best air attack in the league. Now that’s why we will be an offensive dynasty in the future.
