Is it just a free for all in FA to who gets offered the most money? In this league salary amount does not feel like a truly important resource.
Will the teams receive compensatory picks if their players get lured away in FA, similar to the NFL? You could add a restricted free agent tag, to allow teams to recover some losses
If players contract expires at the end of S1 they are still eligible to be placed in the expansion draft. The expansion team that chooses them will be allowed to negotiate a contract before free agency and if a deal is not agreed upon the team will have the right to match any accepted free agency offer for that player. If the expansion team matches a contract the player has agreed to with another team the expansion team gets the player with the agreed upon contract.
As for regular free agency, no, after one year of service there won't be restricted free agency. Players won't be subject to restricted free agency until after something like 3 seasons with one team. Exact rules for it aren't in place yet but are on the table. There is no compensation for having a player for one season though. That's just normal.free agency, like in the NFL. Restricted free agency and compensation in the NFL don't come unless a player has a certain number of seasons with one team.
