Norfolk has an incredibly reinvigorated defensive unit this year, having added incredible value in players like Thubba Bumper, Magnus Rikiya, Matt Cross and other. Thubba is a speedy and agile corner and kick return specialist. His ability to read plays and shadow receivers will be instrumental in keeping the enemy offenses off the field. Magnus is a hefty D lineman that can beat O linemen and get at the quarterback on a consistent basis. And when Magnus doesn't make it into the backfield, he's generally being double teamed, allowing other players a mismatch. Like Matt Cross for example. He's a speedy and intelligent safety who is confident in coverage and has the vision to surge forward on blitzes and beat the edge guards. On top of these defensive pieces, Norfolk added to their offense with receiver Kevin Koh, a pacey weapon with the route skills to leave defenders in the dust and the size to be a red zone threat. New QBs Luke Skywalker and Suleiman Ramza will be looking to wrangle the job from good ol Cal, and they look good value for it, although both need much more time to develop. With these tools in hand the GMs at Norfolk are going to be able to put together a stalwart ground-and-pound team that will be able to generate turnovers and dominate possession.
