Every draft, the question lingers: Who will be the first overall pick? Granted, it’s an arbitrary position, often based more on the position one plays than the overall success one saw in the DSFL. Regardless, it’s a tremendous honor that very few earn. They may go bang or bust, go big or go home. Today, the only question that stands is: where are they now?
2016 NSFL Draft - J.J. Reigns (DL)
J.J. Reigns was the first ever 1st OA pick. However, his career would not pan out as far as the Orange County Otters may have hoped. He made the S1 Pro Bowl, and won his only Ultimus in S4 with the Otters. He made a difference where it mattered, nothing more and nothing less.
2017 NSFL Draft - Dermot Lavelle (CB)
Dermot Lavelle was taken 1st OA by the Yellowknife Wraiths, where he would play out his entire career. He won his only Ultimus in S8, and was the NSFL Defensive Back and Defensive Player of the Year in S9. Lavelle holds the record for the most Pro Bowl appearances with 13, every season of his career. He ended his career with over a dozen records, many of which still stand to this day, both as a defender and as a returner. Today, he is the cornerbacks coach for Yellowknife. He was inducted into the NSFL Hall of Fame in the S16 Class.

Antonio Sandoval was drafted by the Colorado Yeti in the S3 draft, and would become a major player for the team. Over the course of his career, he played in 3 Pro Bowls, and in S10 was awarded as the Defensive Lineman of the Year. His number 99 jersey was retired by the Colorado Yeti after he entered the team’s Hall of Fame. Sandoval sits 8th all-time for Tackles for Loss with 72, and today he is the defensive line coach for the Yeti.
2019 NSFL Draft - Noah Goodson (LB)
Noah Goodson was drafted by the Arizona Outlaws in S4 and in that year won Defensive Rookie of the Year. Ahead of S6, Goodson was traded to the Baltimore Hawks, whom he would play for for the rest of his career. With the Hawks, he made 2 Pro Bowls and won the S10 Ultimus.
2020 NSFL Draft - Carlito Crush (TE)
Carlito Crush was drafted by the Colorado Yeti in the S5 draft as a tight end, but would be traded to the Otters ahead of S7, where he made the transition to wide receiver and became a powerhouse. Crush was the S9 MVP and with the Otters won 2 Ultimus Championships (S12 & S13), despite playing for New Orleans in S11. With Orange County he set the still-standing Annual Receiving Touchdowns record with 17. He also sits at 8th all-time for Career Receptions with 728 and 10th all-time for Career Receiving Touchdowns with 70. In S20, Crush won GM of the Year with Charlie Law for their work with the Austin Copperheads. Crush was inducted into the NSFL Hall of Fame in the S18 Class.
2021 NSFL Draft - Brian Mills (LB)
Brian Mills was drafted by the New Orleans Second Line in the S6 draft, and with the Second Line he won 2 Ultimus Championships (S9 & S11). He would get traded to the Colorado Yeti ahead of S13, and then to the Baltimore Hawks ahead of S15, where he would win his third Ultimus. Mills sits 5th all-time for Career Forced Fumbles with 15 and 7th all time for Annual Tackles with 134. He played in 5 Pro Bowls over the course of his career, and also won 2 Ultimini Champtionships as the GM of the Tijuana Luchadores, in S13 and S16. Today, he is the linebackers coach for the New Orleans Second Line. Mills was inducted into the NSFL Hall of Fame in the S19 Class.

In S12 and S13 he won Returner of the Year. He sits 7th all-time for Career Kick Return Yards with 7070 and 4th all-time for Career Kick Return Touchdowns with 4. Today, he is the Offensive Coordinator for the Colorado Yeti.

He is remembered as having the best hands in the history of the NSFL, having dropped 0 passes in the last 7 seasons of his career.

D’Pez Poopsie was drafted by the San Jose Sabercats in the S10 draft, and played his entire career with them. In that time, he helped the team win the S14 Ultimus Championship, and made 6 Pro Bowl appearances.
